  1. Running Microsoft Windows 8.1

Also, I have the DVD version. Unless the folder name "HelloWorldDVD" in the NitroPlus folder within the Program Files (x86) is leading me astray. I have tried using a noDVD patch, as I have had similar issues in the past, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I also tried putting the .exe in a folder other than the program files, patching it, putting it back in the program files, but that didn't really have any effect on result.

Although, I suppose if you say the "right" noDVD, perhaps I am just not using the right one?

  2. Heyo everyone,

Having an issue with running "Hello, World". Whenever I run the .exe for the game, nothing at all happens. No extra processes come up in the task manager. No real sign of anything happening at all. It just kinda, doesn't do anything.

My locale is set to JP. My location and time settings are also set to JP. So none of that is the issue here.

I'm pretty sure the issue originates in the fact that the VN came out in like 2002. So, I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this issue. I am currently running windows 8.1. I highly doubt upgrading to Windows 10 would help this issue any. xD

Greatly appreciated if anyone knows. ^_^

  3. You. I like you. Almost as much as I like getting absolutely wrecked by sad/feelsy things.

Actually, no, that was a lie. Nothing can compare to that. :D

Anyway, here are two more recommendations:

Planetarian ~Chiisana Hoshi no Yume~ -- Short, but has the potential to cut the legs right out from underneath you

Clannad -- My personal favorite (well, it holds the title of favorite with one other title, but I digress). Unlike the last one, it is extremely long and there is a lot more comedy than you might like. However, when it decides to pull out some soul crushing... it doesn't pull any punches.

Also, I am going to second nohman and Kawasumi on their recommendations, as those are also solid picks for that feeling of catharsis. Any others I have either don't fit the bill of having to guess things, or just aren't translated yet.

  4. I am going to be LinovaA.

Seriously though, I'll just continue my slow saunter through life as I always have. I suppose I go into this new year with one of these so-called 3D relationships, so I suppose things are a little different from last year's opening.

I'll continue looking for a job to save some money to move out of this accursed city. Until then, I have dank memes, asian cartoons, and arguments over what constitutes a JRPG to keep me company (please don't ask... xD).

I'm not going to change, but I will probably polish off the rest of Macross. :D

  5. I'm putting Tears to Tiara on indefinite hold. I hate saying that I dropped something, so it is just going to sit there for the rest of time. Unless it pulls off some mad changes later in the visual novel, I just saw no hope for it and just can't bring myself to muscle my way through it. I'll probably read one more TL'd visual novel before I jump back into reading UnTL'd. I am thinking of reading Shikkoku no Sharnoth, as it has been burning a hole in my visual novel folder for quite some time.

I'm not sure what I am going to read after that though. If I foresee a time where I will be home for a considerable amount of time, I may bite the bullet and read Sakura no Uta. The visual novel's resolution is way too big for my laptop, so I have to hook up my laptop to a monitor in order for it to fit. Although, unless I fix ITH's issue with unique characters, or find some alternative, I may shove that to the side as well until I am less of a kanji-pleb.

To end the late-night ramblings though, I am thinking I will move on to "Hello, World" after Sharnoth. It has been sitting in the backlog for way too long, and is something that has interested me for a large amount of time since I was first exposed to the medium.

  6. And please no more dank meme, there is already too many :sachi:

I actually need more dank memes to finish "Here at Fuwanovel v.2". Keep memeing, boys.

Here at Fuwanovel is a 7/10 mank dayday. It has its dank moments, yes, but IMO doesn't deserve that high a place in the hallmark of maymays.

There is kek to be found here.

    Merry Christmas/Happy Holodays (:holo:

As we approach the new year, may your days ever be dank.

  7. Yes, more tears for the Clannad Tear Bucket Fund.

Seriously though, glad you enjoyed it. xD It's kind of my favorite thing ever, so when people say they like it I always get a little feeling of happiness. ^_^

i wonder though, should i still watch the anime?

For sure. I mean like, it does cut out some of the fat, but that is entirely fine in my opinion (heresy, some might say, but I digress). If you want to get emotionally wrecked all over again, I can only recommend it more and more. It is a very well done adaptation and takes the best of Clannad and does well with it. Nothing like having certain scenes animated to bring a whole new level of crying to the floor. :wahaha:

Edit: Oh yeah, and Fuuko best grill. :D

  8. Confession: According to multiple sources, apparently I am a decent singer. This is something I find hilarious, because I sang like a dying cat in the few times I was participating in the Karaoke group on Skype. xD

Guess it just depends on the song and where I am, because my low register is absolute poop, and I was singing in that the entire time on Skype 'cause people were home. :wahaha:

  9. Welcome~ o/

Since you are new to visual novels, I shall wholeheartedly recommend one of my favorite visual novels of all time to you; CLANNAD.

The price is quite high, I know, but now that it has finally been released in the West, I can't help but recommend it to everyone. ^^
