First part is not something that could be explained in a forum post. At very least, you have to have solid grasp on common C/C++ data structures and containers (how they are represented in memory and on disk), common compression and encryption algorithms, common encodings, at least basic knowledge of x86 assembler and some skills in reverse-engineering (at least to be familiar with IDA Pro). There are tons of materials available on each of these subjects, but its not something you could learn overnight.
Second (installer) is simpler — you just use any of available toolkits, like Nullsoft Scriptable Install System. -
Just do Takeshi's routes before Shounen's, and you will be fine.
I started with Shounen and it kinda spoiled half the game.

1) Depends. Its okay with neesan, but not okay for underage imoutos. It was really annoying that I had to complete Chinami route in hoshimemo to read true end.
2) No fiction should be ever outlawed.
I agree in my prespective there's no harm either, however if it was like that worldwide it wouldn't be considered harmful material in many cases. Maybe they're accounting that we're all unreasonable people?
Generally, you shouldn't expect "reason", "accounting" and "common sense" from authorities. There would be no NSA, "Patriot Act" and other pointless (from citizen perspective) stuff if they would actually care about "reason".

I have installed the restoration patch but have a problem. If my heart had wings works up to a certain point in the game where it crashes. It says "ADV Player HD has stopped working. Please help.
1. Did you set system locale to japanese?
2. Did you try prepatched version?
3. Does unpatched version work at that certain point? Game is very picky about videocards and drivers.

If you are looking for something-not-SoL, MLA is definitely first thing you should check.
Other titles with unique and interesting stories: Saya no Uta, Liar-Soft WAB series (esp. Sharnoth and Inganock), Dra+KoI

Can everyone open the CGs? I’ve got some trouble of it. It can’t be open, there's just many can be open. I was installed patch when I’ve playing in the middle of story. Who can solve it ?
If you mean CG gallery, its broken right now, wait for second patch.
If you mean CG in game itself during playtrough, use prepatched version (link on previous page).

Interaction with protag matters much more than archetype for me, and pretty much every archetype can be played good, but if I'd have to choose, I'd go with Yamato Nadeshiko type. Esp. ones which combine strength, strictness and reservedness with feminine and cute sides.
Best example Uesugi Kenshin (http://vndb.org/c2859) from Sengoku Rance. In her shy-mode she is irresistibly cute.
Also, Mitsurugi Meya (MLU/MLA), Kan'u Unchou (Koihime Musou).
Other two archetypes worth mentioning are "Arrogant Ojousama" and "Modern Tsundere", because most of the time I cannot tolerate their presence in novel and just ctrl through their lines, but they also can be played right (for example, Mare isn't that bad even tho she's abusive and tsun). If protag is not some hetare shit and actually got balls, arrogant heroines become good comedy relief characters, like Yuuji x Yumiko in Grisaia.
Appearances are much easier to rank: kemonomimi; twintails; meido uniforms; slim, petite body; gothic/lolita fashion suits. Kuroneko in her nekomimi mode is best example.
And out of categories, just ranking heroines alone: Saya and Makina, two best eroge girls ever.

Quick report.
There is some kind of problem with the sound database (I think). Whenever: Yoru, Tatsuya, Matsugu, Other Man and Other woman about to talk, suddenly the game crashes. When I mute/turn off their specific voice, the game runs smoothly without crashing. But it kinda annoying to not be able to hear Yoru's voice. For another ones like Ageha or Kotori, there is no problem so far. Don't ask me to reinstall or repatch the game on another directory since I've done both already.
My system runs on Win 8 SLE (System set to Japan without Apploacale), i5 with Radeon 7520, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD. I wonder if I messed up something?
It was tested thoroughly, and it shouldn't crash. Use prepatched version if yours fail, its possible that your copy was different from one we used as base and therefore voice archive wasn't patched correctly.

I would be interested to see a poll to determine Fuwanovel's favorite VN. I might go do that now.You can ask for everyone's vndb profiles, then sum up votes on their vn lists, and then calculate which vns have better average/median/total/weighted average scores.

No MLA, SnY or Grisaia? No KID novels? Thats quite weird selection.
Also, KiraKira? Its slightly-above-average, but hard to see why it would be in this list, its no better than, say, Quartett or Period.

Is this due to VA's stance on offering their product in the western market (e.g. the usual xenophobia) or something else? I'd expect Angel Beats to be one of the higher profile VNs, no matter how good the actual game is going to be, as the anime has a lot of exposition, so many people would probably be interested in the VN as well.
Xenophobia or not, but they turned down all approaches from MG, JAST and everyone else, and its common tale in community that they asked about million dollars of advance payment for license for one of their games.
MG staff several times stated on MG forums that getting Key/VA games is impossible.

Gathering team before game released is pointless, size, engine, writing complexity and even whether its worth reading at all is unknown at this moment.

Yes, project uses our own tools.
Crowd uses different encryption between games, so our tools wouldn't work with other versions of XC/XCA as is, I or binaryfail would need to reverse-engineer encryption there and change code accordingly.

DR has linear main plot, all characters die in specified order and you cannot affect story in any way.
Your actions only affect whether you get characters backstory or not.

Actually i have been meaning to download Da Capo but i couldn't find it on Fuwanovel and on sites like nyaa and sukebei.nyaa they only have 1 or 2 seeds which would make the download take a long time that i'm not willing to wait for. Is there any other source that you might know of?

I have no idea how people are able to determine the amount of lines a visual novel has. :|
Don't tell me they count them one by one...
Usually there's at least one person capable of making programs in the team, and its trivial to count them automatically.
I'm sure you could do it with existing tools as well. Heck, you could do it with `find`, `grep` and `wc` alone.

While that would certainly be nicer than an abandoned 5% project, where did you read that they updated it? I assumed that because it was 5% on fuwanovel and their website was completely dead, that it had been abandoned.
Its not "5% project", its 5% of Eris route, 100% of Fione and common route.
There are posts from project staff on Ixrec's blog, I believe.

I have just finish Yumina route, is there any walkthrough out for Yumina?
I will move on Kirara route after, next will be Ai.
The conclusion were really weird for Yumina route, the boss were really easy.
Will it be a true end route? O_o
True end is separate thing, you access it from main menu and it doesn't follow any of heroine routes. Well, Yumina is closest to it, except romance.

:| Yandere Translations last update - November 19th 2012. That team is no longer translating the project as far as I know. If the "Downloads and Requests" section is the wrong area to ask for a translator/team, which section would be the right one?
Umm, no, last update was this summer IIRC, its just they don't update site. Team is active, ask SlashZero (team translator) for details, he posts here on fuwa from time to time.

Why, why japanese authors like to make their protags complete hetare shit?
Game was quite good until I reached "true end", where Maito explains backstory of their marriage. There's only so much shit even hetare should put up with, Ryumisu deserved slow and painful death, along with her brother and their family, and protag had more than enough means to do so, but instead he marries her like nothing happened and still let her boss him around.
Only saving grace is Yume ending, where she actually kills that bitch, but she does it on her own and protag pretends nothing happened, being hetare shit as always.
Seriously, having 2 artifacts, each of which capable of killing her for good, having Yume, having Ryanne back, having army of demons, mundanely terrorizing 3 kingdoms, and still being afraid of single insane bitch. Not funny, SHChara.

I don't want to bother with distributing several gigabytes patch 3rd time, so 2nd should be final one, with everything needing to be fixed done.
If we decide to port Sweet Love as well, realistic ETA is somewhere around year end (at least two more months from now).

I like my anime to stay all ages thanks. if you need fap mats there are plenty of anime for that too.
Way to miss my point entirely. I specifically pointed out that porn is not needed, like its done in Ever17.
What I need from mah romance in anime is moving to actual "we are couple" stage instead that awkward-hand-holding shit they put in pretty much every title. Yeah, sure there are very few titles that hint about characters having sex offscreen, but it doesn't help that they are still NOT acting like couple on-screen.

VN is "visual novel". To qualify as VN, game should have "visual" aspect of some form, and "novel" aspect (in particular, narration). So if significant part of story is explained via narration text (ADV or NVL style), its VN. If text is limited to dialogues mostly or its audio narration, its not VN.
