I'm actually proud of Grimgar's restraint. It managed to go an entire episode without an insert song. Now if we could just get them to stop talking about Manato every 5 minutes... Schwarzesmarken... I'm definitely enjoying this show, but I can't help but feel sad that it's not going to be in my top 3 this season because they compressed the story into a single cour. Rakugo is a goddamned work of art. If anything tops this for anime of the year for me, that just means it will have been a damned good year. Erased... loving it, and probably my #2 of the season, but I do wish they put more effort into the mystery. This was like a two player game of Clue. Ajin is fantastic, marred only by the fact that traditional Japanese low framerate animation is very obvious in an all CG show. But the content of the show itself is tops. Konosuba is the absolute worst... ...for only being 10 episodes long. I want more, do you hear me Deen?! Gate is still Gate.

It's something to consider...

It's a really young cat demon with a lollipop. I know this is supposed to be cute or even sexy, but the first thought that comes to mind is "how many ways would I go to prison?" 7/10

Just finished Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, and.... hmm... On the one hand, I like the premise as well as the overall story. On the other hand, the pacing is weird, and it just kind of cuts off. In other words, a typical LN adaptation. I think I may follow LiquidShu's lead and go with Ergo Proxy next.

What essential features should modern VNs today have?
Scars Unseen replied to Kanbe's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It seems like it'd be pretty easy to pull off. Spriter Pro could do it with likely minimal effort, and there should be plenty of people that have that from the Humble Bundle that practically gave it away with some other game dev tools a while back(I really should get around to playing around with that stuff...) -

It'd have to be a lot more subtle and less frequent for me to view it as a positive. People don't move like that when they breathe unless they just finished a 5k run. -
I've been working on my backlog since I'm not watching many shows this season. Just finished up Katanagatari, I'm feeling... things.

So my top shows of the season: Rokka no Yuusha - Went in expecting a basic kill-the-monster show and got a locked room mystery. Fantasy Aztec Anime Batman is awesome. Classroom Crisis - Another expectation defier. I really didn't think I'd be getting a political/corporate thriller out of this show. Overlord - It's pure power fantasy, but it's good power fantasy. Ains-sama is P2W. Jitsu wa Watashi wa - Nice relaxing comedy that occasionally goes off the rails. GATE - Another show that is fairly relaxing to watch. I like the characters, and I don't have to think too hard about where the show is going. There are some shows that might have made it, but they were kind of slow paced, so I saved them for a binge watch later. Off the top of my head are Gangsta, Arslan Senki and Ushio to Tora. Most disappointing show of the season: Charlotte. So much hype. So much trainwreck.
