-Forced Route Order (I just want to play _____'s route...) -H-Scenes in general. They often destroy the plot (Fate/stay night) -Sudden changes from tsun to dere. (Ever17) I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of any...

Thanks for all of the input. It sounds like the large majority of VN's can be played on windows 8.1 one way or another. Now the hunt for a laptop begins...

I have being playing visual novels for awhile now, and wanted to play them on the go with a new laptop. The problem is that I am unsure if most visual novels will be compatible with Windows 8 (.1). I have checked around the internet but have found no relevant information. I'm also interested in windows 8 tablets, and if anyone knows if most visual novels work on them nicely please tell me.

Ah man, I had that problem. It's a huge pain to fix. You have to go into registries (regedit) and fix some stuff but I forgot exactly what.
