Have someone tried the tool of Nekopak engine? I think nothing wrong with the tool since I extracted the files and repacked them again using the tool and nothing went wrong but once I edited the script which was a plain text (I use Notepad++), then I repacked them again, the game crashed. Is there some rule or something to edit the script?

Notepad++ has a standard coding for new files.

Example: If the original file was coded as Shift-Jis, Notepad++ is configured to creating new files as UTF-8. If the engine does not accept unicode, then it won't run.

Another possible issue is if you messed with the programming structure in the script. It is really easy to break a script if you do not pay enough attention.

Just a single misplaced comma, and everything goes downhill.

Open the original file, and without changing anything, take a screenshot. I will be able to tell you a few things.

Nope. After checking many converters, I reached the exact same values (and pretty much all of the others, from 64 to 500), but the file simply does not play inside the VN.  I will try overwriting one of the songs. Maybe the file names are hardcoded.

But if that is the case, then it is a no-no. I wanted to add new soundtracks, not change them altogether. I will keep you posted.

The hell. The track's names are hard coded.

After I overwrote one of them with the same name, the very file that was not working before simply played out in the VN.

This is beyond what I asked help for in this topic, but anyone has any idea on how to "add" more name files to this list?

Edit: I feel like a dumb piece of---- You get it.

The names really were hard coded (I have no idea if that term can even be aplied here).

....But I managed to find the scripted file and add the name of the new track there. It is working now.
Thank you all for your help and time. I actually got my ogg files with real high quality after messing around with them for 3 days straight lol

Regarding the PS2 port to PC, it is still on the beginning stages, so it will take a while.

I kind of 'translated' the news so I could grasp at least a bit of it.

But, again, it is great Nitroplus did not forget this one. I would not have messed up with Demonbane if it wasn't awesome. Cheers!

Aw.... Well, when it comes out, maybe I will try to adapt my translation into it. Until then, let me have my dream lol
Thanks for the info though. It is always good to see Demonbane getting some love from the industry.

Oh, ok. I actually tried converting to 499kb/s for better quality. Heh, my loss.

Let me try this then. Thank you!

  5. Good afternoon, fellow readers.

I am translating Demonbane to my mother tongue, while creating a "Realta Nua" patch of sorts based on the PS2 version.

Well, "patch" is actually not the right word for it, since I am no programmer, nor hacker. I am coding the new stuff directly into the script, along with my translation.

The thing is, I can't put any of the PS2 tracks to work inside the VN. The engine is picky and the encoding of the OGG files probably must have a specific coding.

Can anyone give me any tips on what program should I use?

Here is a sample of a file that works (originally from the PC version) and a sample of a file that does not work inside the game (originally from the PS2 version).

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/bcsueg7kfvq431j/track_samples.zip

Aside from 44100hz and mono (which I already tried converting) there is nothing in the PC version that I can notice is different.

Thank you all in advance for any help you are able to provide!

Edit: Oh, just to let you know, I already tried using the methods below:

Wavepad, Audacity, OggdropXPd, online converting using both Vorbis and Opus coding

    try CriPakTools, but please note...

I am probably doing it wrong, but the codes used on command prompt (following the read me file inside the tool's folder) don't work on the file.

If the file "IMAGE.PCK" is in the same folder as the "CriPakTools.exe", I opened  command prompt as administrator, changed directory to the folder and used the code " CriPakTool.exe IN_FILE", substituting the IN_FILE part for the name of the actual file I want to extract.

Is that it? Because, the code to extract all is "CriPakTools.exe IN_FILE ALL", which I used as "CriPakTools.exe IMAGE.pck ALL".

The result is the pic below. What I am doing wrong?

    344cnxh.jpg

Edit: I managed to do it by asking in the ZenHax foruns. Their admin made a custom script to use in QuickBMS and all the CGs came out in .tm2 format, which I was able to convert easily.

Thanks for trying to help, Huang Ling Yin! In case you need some image files edited, you need only to ask.

Now, back to the project.... Demonbane will get a "Realta Nua" of sorts, after all.

I am an image editor, so if you ever wanna try it again, send me a PM. I might be able to help ;)

    Good evening, everyone!

I am currently translating JAST Usa's version of Demonbane to portuguese, and I managed to get the PS2 version to get some Extra videos/openings/effects/CGs.

I was able to get everything I needed, except the CGs, which are kept inside a PCK extension file.

I tried a bunch of programs, but not one worked. The file is almost 700mb, so uploading it is almost a no-no, but there is another PCK file inside the game disk, which is only 50mb.

Dunno if the process to extract them both is the same, but it is very likely.

In case I prove myself to be too much of a noob, and a noble soul is willing to help, I can upload this smaller file for testing purposes.

    Thanks in advance!

Can anyone at least tip me on what programs might work with this one? I would really appreciate it!

  9. I wish you good luck on this project. I have one of my own, and I know how trying it can be!

Unfortunately I cannot read moonrunes, nor will I ever be able to. I actually tried to learn japanese once, but it was a no-no.

I hope you find a proper translator soon enough :D

Whit FontCreator. If you need, i can send you.

Thanks a bunch bro. I received help yesterday and was able to modify the font.

I also used FontCreator before reading your post, so I guess this is the best tool around for this haha

Also thanks for going out of your way to actually offering to send me the program. I really appreciate the help :D

    ---
I think your editor is recreating the source glyphs table, as sjis fonts contains a massive amount of characters some font editors that do not target 932 fonts end up generating a new "corrupted" font that may affect the recognition of some games, or not ...
well, I'm not sure if that's your case.
Take into account also that it is MS Gothic, have you correctly installed the modified font? if you just opened and gave install this is your mistake, MS Gothic is a protected system font, you will not be able to modify it so easily.

    En---
The editor I tried to use the first time is a mess. FontForge is no good. At least for this.

Xander actually sent me a custom font of his by PM, and it worked wonders.

But since spanish does not have all the special characters I need, I also installed FontCreator and was able to add the missing ones.

FontCreator is surprinsingly easy to use, so I recommend it deeply in case anyone needs to customize a font like I ended up doing.

Everyone that cared to answer this thread have my sincere thanks, because all the responses were very helpful.

Also, Xander, thanks a bunch again bro. You saved my bacon big time :D

    PT---

  12. Good evening people!

I am currently translating Demonbane into portuguese, and unfortunately it uses Shift-Jis in all of the text.

And this coding does not accept any of the special characters my language has (ç, á, à, ê, ã, etc).

I have already been told I can modify a font to make another character Shift-Jis accepts to look like one of the special ones above.

Demonbane also lets me change the font in one of its 'sys' files.

Well, the thing is I managed (at least I think I did) to change a few characters to look like the ones I need. I saved the modified font, instaled it and set it in Demonbane configs.

But it simply does not work. I used FontForge to do it.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to do this?

Edit: Oh, I tried changing characters in MS Gothic, the game's original font, and also Meiryo, which is pretty much the same as MS Gothic, but none of them worked.

Yes, I was very careful in the character exchange, and use never or rearly use characters like á=#, é=$, í=|, etc.

What tool did you use to modify the font? Because I kind of have the same issue with my translation. I also need to put ç, á, é, ê, ã, and so on.

I tried modifying both MS Gothic and Meiryo (which is basicaly MS Gothic with a different name) but I can't make the special characters appear.

I used fontforge to modify them, and at least in the program, the glyphs are changed to the special characters I need.

Welcome to Fuwanovel, and quite straightforward introduction I see. Hope you have fun here, and if possible find whatever VN that you want to be translated.

    Thank you!

About the straightfoward thing, I don't know. I got like this over the years, probably because of my wife's influence. She is a lot more reserved than I ever was in my youth.

We are like water and fire, after all.
In the end, we will both be smoke.

About archery, where I live there is an archery range, but despite liking it a lot, I am pretty bad at it :P
No championships for me anytime soon haha

What I really like is bow-building. Arrows particularly are really difficult to make if you lack the proper wood around.

I abandoned the project many years ago.. I should still have the file backed up somewhere, though...

    Hey, thanks for the reply!

I would not like to impose, but could you look for it when you have the time? It would save me a lot of time afterwards! There are 807 nss files, which I am saving as Unicode txt to keep the special characters.

If I can save the translation directly in the Shift-Jis nss, will speed up the entire process big time!

Also, that is too bad about the project. Muv Luv is one of the greatest stories I have ever read, and the major thing that works as a downer is the engine.

I really got into it, and no matter how simple the plot feels at first, the whole Lovecraft business makes up to give one hell of a time after.... say... Chapter 4 or 5.

And when you have to play again the first chapters to get further routes, you will notice that Lovecraftian lore was there since the beginning. Demonbane is very well-tought.

That is more than enough to let me pull this off. And, of course, my Metatron fanboysm.

But please let this one slide. She is awesome :P
