You highligted wrong part ;) "All-ages" isn't end of the world, if done skillfully, but when translation is horrible, even h-scenes won't save it :P Or does it have so high amount of H that there's almost nothing left without it?

I simply refuse to play an all ages game, I would rather watch a very generic slice of life anime or any anime really than read an all ages VN.

  2. My current list for this season:

    Tier 1

    Yakusoku no Neverland

    Tier 2

Dororo,,,Yakusoku no Neverland Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari

    Tier 3

Kakegurui ×× ,,,Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka ,,,5-Toubun no Hanayome ,,,Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. ,,,Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

    Tier 4

Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai,,,Egao no Daika,,,Girly Air Force,,,Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! ,,,Endro!

    Horrible Tier

Revisions---typical netflix show, very ugly 3D westernish art.,,, Pastel Memories- ugh so generic it hurts, very bad production value no story no art,,, Grimms- somewhat nice looking but everything else is bad about this, was struggling to finish the first ep ,,,Boogiepop---I have no idea whats going, and seeing the generic boring art style I really dont care at all,,,W'z-- Probably the worst of this season, so ugly 3D it hurts eyes and makes no sense, could be a hentai

Steam likely banned My Erotic Summer because it's an H-game with a shota protagonist, not just because it's an anime-style game.

What about Food Girls? All-Ages game yet also Indefinitely Delayed by Steam. Seems like they are still "taste police" despite claiming otherwise.

Shit. That was one my top 5 VNs for 2018.

*Prepares line of defense for tasteless opinion*

I don’t know another JVN like it that was so much fun to read in a single setting. I think it’s popular because it’s a quick, fun, “accessible” visual novel. Also, there’s a strange lack of horror VNs. Like seriously, when was the last good horror JVN? Anyone? Because all of the other ones or just gore fests. Trust me, watching cute anime girls getting mauled, decapitated, disembowled, dismembered, etc. can get boring real fast. :yumiko:

Accessible meaning, no stupid nudity, nothing too vulgar either. Like I have puritanical Christian friends and I can comfortably recommend this VN to them because it’s just a ghost horror. Like the exorcist is more disturbing than this VN and religious wingnuts each that crap up like the Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity.

And, to be honest, this time I simply cannot understand why it isn’t popular enough.

The sad reality is that so called "gorefest" horror extremely rare at least for english only peasants(like me), you are really lucky to get access for these titles so much that you are getting bored.

Btw you answered your own question, "why isn't popular enough" the keyword is "accessible", I really dont get what supposed to be horror in that game, in horror one want to see "horror" , but there is no gore no nudity etc nothing going on etc then whats supposed to be the horror if appeals to everyone?

Sekai is heavily to blame for this though. They should have understood that and aimed to release as fast as possible instead of putting it in the icebox. Hell the title I'm looking forward to the most from them is still in the icebox(Tenshin Ranman).

I am waiting for that game since ages, only dreaming hopefully once can play it, Sekai surely making the wait as long as possible.

In this case it's your logic which has faulted. You've practically not understood my point at all. Try reading it and rereading it. If it doesn't sink in, give it a few years. I'll give you a major hint: I don't personally like that these games are removed from steam.

I understand perfectly, you wrote if a drawing looks like a 12 year old then she 12 years old, before edit... I dont like this thinking at all, and frequently see this mentioned "underage girls" looking less than 18 years old because she has no breast or her face too cutesy etc...Ignoring the fact that these drawings usually dont have child like personality, also in Asia many 25+ year old girl looks like less than 18... There is no solution for these people, they just hate the art style and would never accept it no matter what they want SJW like design like Alloy and New Lara etc .

They do, but when you show a girl looking like she's 9-12, then that doesn't hold up. It just doesn't.

Drawings arent real so they dont have rights and neither ages....You can commit mass murders in several popular western game, yet as I recall murder also illegal in RL. So by ur logic everything should be banned in games thats illegal in RL... Damn, SJW's allows no fun in games

Gabe freakin' Newell, what the hell are you doing allowing your very own employees to call the shots on what VNs can and cannot be allowed on Steam? What next? Are they going to go on a crusade and ban all JRPGs with an anime aesthetic?

I wouldn't be surprised if that's also the case. I've been with the Steam community before, and a lot of the users are so anti-anime that they'll throw slander at anyone who has an anime avatar. If they're giving Valve more incentive to ban these games, this will be problematic in the future.

    "Dear Mr. Newell

Please open an internal investigation on two employees working for you - Jason Ruymen and Arisa Sudangnoi. They are alleged to be responsible for the continued censorship of niche anime-styled games under the guise of 'child exploitation'. This contradicts Valve's previous statements about not being the 'taste police', and calls into question the legitimacy of your company's commitment to give gamers the freedom to buy and play what they want.

    Please resolve this."

It came out and nobody noticed. Grab it, it's 10% off and the 18+ version is ON STEAM

Support Sayori or go to hell. Long live the queen.

Thanks, never thought this will be released ,years ago saw the op and liked it, what a nice surprise.

  10. Charages, moeges I like those of the most, where you can choose from girls, but is important that relationship well built and progresses logically. I hate when there is absolutely no romantic buildup but out of nowhere and ero scene forced just because, what I call those is throwaway scene. Those throwaway scene usually most often occurs VNs with so called story, where the game focuses on shounen like fights etc hate those with passion. So almost never want a VN with story, usually just boring and predictable filler.

Now I like very dark VNs with story(lot of bad ending) or would love to read VNs with depressing ending only and of course NTR however these are quite rare so my default stance NO STORY because I never feel any fun reading them, knowing that everything will end happy and never any real danger.

As it is now, give me moege

NO to story and NO to nukige

  11. You make fair points about Goblin Slayer and can understand why they did skip that part however I sure hope so this wont became a trend and skipping every part where someone might be offended.

As for Akame ga Kill ,at first I did enjoy the anyone can die trope at first, however just as u pointed too many death and too fast, really lacking balance. Far more serious flaw was the obvious death flags one could see them from miles away, the icing on the cake was by the books ending guessed the last 6-8 episode exactly who will survive and will die in order.  Felt like going through motions, I absolutely despite predictability, second half had absolutely no surprise and couldnt care less about characters.

Well, there's a difference. Rape isn't dark, it's just messed up. Kind of like Lesiak said, the first episode already very clearly establishes the goblins and what kind of creatures they are. Constant repetition would simply be that, boring repetition. What characterizes the show is its violence, which it hasn't really hidden from the public.

Death and gore for the sake of shock value is kind of what doomed shows like Akame ga Kill.

I can see where are you coming from, however I didnt find Akame ga Kill that horrible, at least I would value it way more than typical shounen, certainly was flawed especially the last few episode those were horrible executed and predictable to the letter. There is a certain dogma among most of animefandom, that I strongly disagree, "every death need purpose or advance the plot otherwise is nothing but shock porn or edgy for the sake of edgy"

I think they were right, if the second episode got more of that stuff I would most likely drop it. I'm not scared of super violent/disturbing content, but the show communicated what goblins are and the fate of the team that stormed the fortress well enough. Any more of that would be pretty much just guro and if I looked for that, I would go on some hentai site or read a clock-up VN.

Seriously, Goblin Slayer was far cry from guro, it was extremely vanilla, in fact one could barely tell whats going on due the censorship, second was so disappointing I am thinking dropping it. The problem is that who like dark stuff has no choice really, about 1 show per season if lucky.
