  1. Skip grisaia, it's awful and you can't even prepare yourself for that since the common route is just full of wacky humour (and not bad) Just a huge waste of time
  2. Thanks all for your suggestions! I'm wishlisting the titles that seemed most relevant. I don't discriminate against english VNs or yuri, or dark material like rape and guro, I'm open for anything. That's just how I roll! I should mention though that I'm not really talking about something where you move to a new place and then stay there for the whole story, I'm looking more for a road-movie type of story. I figured as much, of course, but there's always going to be some exceptions and different things out there. When I first got into eroge I really wasn't prepared for the sheer number of them that exists. Besides, characters in these kinds of stories don't always journey alone. Cannonball was kind of an adventure-type of VN where 1 (or 2) central heroines stay with you the whole game. Still, it doesn't have quite the kind of movement I'm specifically looking for here, but it comes closest to what I'm looking for so I guess it serves as a good example. From what I read around on VNDB, rail-softsAlbatross might be something closer, but sadly a SEOP like me can't read it
  3. The story and setting can be anything, I'm just looking for a VN where the protagonist isn't bound to one place. Perhaps he's journeying and meeting new people each chapter that he then leaves behind. Perhaps he finds comrades along the way. These kinds of stories aren't rare but I haven't found any VNs really like this yet. I can understand that it requires more backgrounds than usual though.
  4. I'm stoked for more liar-soft (maybe rail-soft... pls albatross) c'mon mangagamer it's time for fairytale requiem and MONOBENO I can feel it in my lolicon bones (not really, but one can dream)
  5. It's fucking scummy to keep this shit in the dark, so yeah, kudos to FrontWing for being transparent about what they're censoring. Also, remember that even though it's a pretty small piece of censorship, it could be more important next time so as a principle it's a good to take the anti censorship stance seriously. The more they get used to that censorship is ok the worse the censorship is gonna get, they've got to know that the audience is displeased about decisions like this, even if it is relatively small concern to most... you may say it's only a 10-15 line scene but this scene adds shock value to a chapter that was meant to be completely miserable, so it's still unfortunate that it is removed since it will be a memorable portion of the game for a lot of people. It doesn't ruin the game, no, far from it, but it takes away a tiny piece of it, however insignificant it may seem. Not really disappointed or anything because at least they understand that you gain more respect by announcing these decisions than by just randomly doing them and it coming as a surprise to the readers, and at least it is a relatively unimportant scene. It's hard to speak out too much against this censorship but I insist that censorship is bad and if they take away anything you will really miss you must make it known tbh
  6. Visual Novels rarely seem to depend much on literary merits, you are setting yourself up for disappointment to begin with. You should treat VNs more like games, thankfully VNs generally have better writing than games. I like VNs because they can do a damn good job at immersing you in the setting. Symphonic Rain is my favorite so far, it did something that you couldn't do in any other medium. I would also say that both Forest and Ever17 couldn't have been done in any other medium at all. Besides, I think Kikokugai and Saya both had fine writing by literary standards and they packed some serious atmosphere to boot with amazing BGM and CGs, stuff like this is really important. Reading Inganock right now and it's yet another reminder why VNs can be so cool. You gotta remember that these are VISUAL novels. Now, I haven't read Fate/Stay (frankly it looks bad) nor Grisaia so perhaps you just had bad luck in your choices. You gotta remember that weebs have awful tastes in everything and are often incredibly stupid so it's important to not listen to them, only listen to me and noone else.
  7. When given a 10 point scale I think you should try to use use all of it and not just limit yourself to the upper half. It's a bit silly that I have to get used to others inflated rating systems when I browse works. If a work has an average rating of a 7 or a 8, what that actually means is that the community considers it merely decent. Try to be flexible with the scale and perhaps you won't have such a problem (maybe lower those 10s to 9s for example)

I got into Visual Novels about a year ago and have been pretty hooked since. I signed up here on a whim, not sure what to expect. Thanks for having me.
