  1. Ehhh it's going to be in volumes? well i suppose that does mean we should get around 60 episodes total then :)

and i suppose this will also cutdown translation time? seeing as they will be shorter?

60 episodes of what? This is about Visual Novel which will have 6 volumes. Or have I missed something?

And 1st volume may be as big as CLANNAD.

  2. If I were to pick between these 3:
Grisaia - no. Not until sequel is translated. Otherwise I'll die from not knowing "what happened next" and by the time they'll translate sequel I'll forget half of it. And from what I remember, koestl already started TLing it.
Higurashi - they look awful, but after stuffing some patches on them to upgrade graphics - might be good enough.
LB - no. Not until LB EX fully translated. Otherwise I'll have to re-read everything from scratch or read only new routes. Both variants sux. Unless enough time passed for me to forget LB by 80%, then re-reading can be an option. But for me to forget it to this extent, some years should pass. I really want to believe these lazy asses will release the translation faster. Hopefully by the end of the year...

    P.S.
I saw that you picked VN, but still wanna post it ^^

  3. Runtime error? what exactly it says? Maybe you just need to install correct VC++ runtime or update the one already installed?

Anyway, you don't necessarily need to download anything S;G to obtain libvorbis.

I'm sure there should be plenty of the downlands on the web since this is a file from very famous opensource project.

Or maybe downloading statically linked libvorbis.dll and renaming it to libvorbisfile.dll will work, dunno.

  4. One important thing to keep in mind before any actual Fan TL can pick it up: It might get an official translation.

Or pick it up and host all the stuff somewhere where they can't take it down.

    isn't there one for clannad?

Huh? Nice joke. Unless Doki upgraded to the official company. But judging from their speed it doesn't looks like they're getting any money from it :DD

Edit: On the other hand, Planetarian has an official English TL. Or so they say, I don't live in iLand.

  5. 1st video starts right at the end of the prologue before they show you the main menu.
This might be the problem then. Try removing codec packs and stuff, reboot, then install LAV Filters with all settings to default. You can try something else too but I don't know a single case where LAV failed to play video in any given VN.
Go to the extra/movie menu and try to play back videos there.

Also just try to load somewhere before the issue and press+hold left control to see if you;ll be able to get past that point.
^that probably won't help you. While 1st video can be skipped, skipping UBW video is not allowed.

Instead you can try to wait 1.5 min or so. While you can't see it, video might actually play at the background.

Alternatively download this. Put it to the Fate folder and rename it to the patchX.xp3 where X is the number-of-already-existing-patches+1. This should remove UBW video. (though haven't tested, it might not work at all).

  6. Eh? here screenshot? Where 【・ヘ・?】

Also this "green shows up" sounds pretty confusing, that's why I want screen...

I don't remember where exactly starts UBW video, but if this is the problem, you should be able to skip it. So again have you tried workarounds mentioned in TPB comments? They may not be exactly for the scene you have problem with, but might work.

Edit: also video after prologue or in movie menu works? If yes there is no reason for UBW video not to work.

  7. fickledorf

What you don't understand? All of the releases you refer to are equally crappy. Edit: in fact the second one you linked (from 2009) you really should avoid by all means.

    1) get original, untouched, unmodified fate ISO, without any pre-installed patches.

    2) go to the official websites of the patches you want to have, download latest versions of them and install.

Whether you need to install Fate from ISO first or not depends. Refer to the patch install instructions. I think MirrorMoon's translation will install it for you.

Edit2: also post screenshot of the problem. And have you tried workarounds mentioned in TPB comments?

Given the amount of extra stuff you can get into fate, though... sure seems annoying.

Yeah, but it can't be helped that almost every second version of these patches is broken and the only ones that known to work fine is a MM translation 3.2. And, IF you need/want it RN patch with update that was released this year (don't remember date).
  8. Regardless of where you DLed it, it sucks (this TPB release sucks for sure). There are tons of Fate versions and even more patches for them. The best thing to do is to have original untouched iso images, go to the official patch pages, download latest versions of the patches and apply them. Everything else is outdated.
Edit: TPB says that release is from 2011. I'm pretty sure latest update for that version of Fate was in 2013.
Edit2: As you can read in TPB comments "To fix the issue with tainted berserker, hold ctrl to skip through that specific screen. Not ideal, but works." Not sure if this is the same scene you talking about, but you can try to do the same anyway. Still that release sux.

  9. Sadly, Tobioka ruined every and each route. And Ageha's drama is even more stupid than Kotori's, I don't advice to read that route at all for you, just go with Amane and then consider game finished.

Well, I'll try to read all of it. It didn't met my expectations at all, but I can't say it's that awful. Pretty average I guess.

Ageha's route wasn't that bad with regard of Tobioka-sensei (maybe because I was able to skip some of it?). Also there was no Hibari or her Father (and no new stupid characters to replace them) so it was far more enjoyable for me. The biggest disappointment for me was... Kotori. I really didn't wanted to see her in a glider again. But I guess this won't change in other routes too.

Ageha's drama was stupid indeed, when I found out about her "problems", I though liker "what??? and that's all??". But this thing aside, I liked her character. But more importantly I REALLY liked Hotaru (*°∀°)=3 Too bad she doesn't have her own route... Also I liked H-scenes more than in Kotori route (Though Kotori's cosplay was better ^^)

So overall I guess I'll bump my vote to 6/10 for this VN.

  10. validrong

Oh right. That's true, game can rewrite it's own files and they won't be suitable for seeding. But this is actually the consequence of another issue - making releases with preinstalled VNs, with preinstalled patches is just stupid. But I think it was partially worked around by releasing stuff in archives.

Though if antivirus deletes something, this is nothing more than end-user mistake (or just crappy antivirus if first deletes stuff then asks and can't be configured)

Btw that quote I poster earlier was from Ageha route. I wonder what was the reason for that change? There is nothing to censor there... unless patting the girl on the head is forbidden in the US :D

Edit: also it kills me when they translate one word "mitai" like "but I really want to see it". They could use something like "show it" or "show me"... but 7 words, wtf?

  11. I do know what I am talking about and no matter what, I can't remove read only, it is a microsoft problem, and it has been since XP. Even with the UAC disabled.

Even going into Command Prompt gives me an error saying I don't have access, I as an administrator on my computer cannot use the Attrib command on Command Prompt, I can probably fix it, but I don't have the time, or the drive, and there was an easier way that was pointed out to me.

They are not "read only", there is a difference between "read only" and not having write access. If you are real administrator, you shouldn't have an issue like that to begin with. But let's not continue this topic as I'm not going to explain the differences between your user account and administrator.

If you want an easier way: do not install konosora into program files directory (or any other system directory).

Also, what does having it distributed as a single .exe have anything to do with what I was talking about?

Nothing. I said it to validrong, not to you.

  12. Opinions, opinions. Securing currently seeded files against writing is essential, but I guess it's a crappy feature. Enjoy your refused packets.

Securing from what? If you think something may try to write over your game files, which will render them corrupted, you have a way bigger problems and shouldn't really worry about packets.

Other thing, Windows 8 lacks backwards compatibility. I'm running multiple-boot myself for compatibilities' sake (XP, 7 and - for the kicks - Tails) - 7 is main, XP for hopeless cases and Tails when I go out and use hotspots.

This issue is not limited to win8 and have nothing to do with backwards compatibility. This is just end-user fail. People should learn how to use OS they have. Such amount of issues in this thread is just ridiculous.

  13. If you use crappy .torrent clients and play the game straight from your torrent directory, your torrent client sets "read-only" on all seeded files. Try moving it to another folder and unchecking it.

    FIXED.

However in this case this is not read-only issue but rather UAC issue. He just don't know what he is talking about. Konosora is distributed as a single .exe installer anyway.

  14. Hmm...

Hotaru says: "nade nade shite, mukashi mitai ni"

Translation: "touch my cheek. like in the old days..."

    whaat?? Oo

    Okay, then:

Without resisting I placed my hand on Hotaru's face. And just like that, I started to move it gently across her face. Hotaru's eyes closed as if she were in a trance.

My finger became entangled in her hair. So fine and so soft. This is completely different from my thick, rough hair...

whaat?? she has a hair on her cheek??? That's damn scarry! ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ

  15. Well, I finally finished Kotori's route (it took me one month to do it). It was quite promising at first but then my enjoyment gradually dropped, and later it transformed into annoyance. At some point I started to skip every second line. 4/10. And this is only thanks to H-scenes, cause I was looking forward to see them. Otherwise I would probably just drop it by now. I expected to see way more "pain and suffering" caused by Kotori's disability directly and not her father being a jerk, or sister that has no clue about what's going on even by being there in person, not the place where they have everything "handicap friendly", not all of this stupid drama that they create for themselves like they have nothing better to do.

Guess I'll try Ageha's route now. I hope there won't be Hibari, her parents or Tobioka-sensei... cause they are so annoying and poke their noses into something that is not their business, I wish I could tell them about my feelings using some heavy club ( – -)/☆°_。)

Basically the flowchart looks like this:

intro - they are flying - stupid forced drama happens - they are flying - stupid drama - they are flying, woot, suddenly ending

So it the third of it could be easily cut and no one would notice.

  16. just wanna to ask.

Why in this choice, if i choose "Go to Asa" always go back to title screen after Aoi take off the glider? (Sorry if my english is bad >.<)

    prob_zps0f474cf7.jpg

    Thx b4 :)/>

I think this means BAD END. However I'm not sure. I haven't cleared even a single route yet. (But i'm trying! :D) Could be also a bug.

  17. I wish I had. I wrote this shortly after beating the first one.

And I'm assuming XSeed will localize DEAD PATIENT once all the chapters are out. The OVAs are also being subbed right now. I'll see if I can't find them.

B-but that chapter one is a standalone ~6-7gb game. Why would they wait for other chapters? That'll be years before they come out...

Besides this is a PC game. XSeed work with PC games? (I have no idea) But fan TL is very possible.

  18. Wow, you're like some kind of AppLocale hater.

    I am Applocale hater

It's certainly more convenient than messing with OS settings

You changed os settings once and forgot about them. Each time using applocale with some probability to catch random bug - certainly more convenient.

Anyway, you seem to be missed my point. What I'm saying "if it works for you it is still not a reason to recommend it for someone else"

  19. I'm on Win7 64, and you may be right - I might be just incredibly lucky.

Sekien no Inganock, Sharin no Kuni (+fandisc), Kanon, Clannad, Canvas 2, GnK, G-Senjou, Cross Channel, Tsukihime, F/SN, Kagetsu Tohya, Wanko to Kurasou, YMK, Underwater Ray Romano, Monmusu Quest!... Those I remember playing, and they didn't bug out in any way - no wordwrap problems, no sudden exits to desktop, no error messages.

Type Moon VN's absolutely have problems with applocale. So do some other VN's from your list.

It is probably should be noted that problems appear after you apply some kind of translation or maybe other modifications. There are less likely to be problems with "raw" japanese versions.

And no, problem's doesn't means that they'll "bug out". Most of the time no errors is shown. Which is only worse, you don't even know that applocale caused something unless you'll make someone who reported bug to stop using it. Anyway, try to make few patches yourself and deal with applocale, then you'll see what I mean. Not to mention that switching windows locale to jp permanently shouldn't hurt you in any way.

    One typical case:

Anon: fullstops/exclamations marks and some words, move down a line

メルP: ll look into it, but font on your screenshots looks different from what it looks on my screen. And history is just totally different. I don't remember making any font adjustments. So...

Anon: And I'm using Microsoft AppLocale to launch the VNs

    メルP: Please stop using applocale.

Anon: You were right I stopped using AppLocale and the lines were fixed

Also things that DO have non-jp locale support, may also work fine with applocale. For example things translated by mirrormoon do have non-jp locale support. But then it is pointless to launch them with applocale anyway.

But we're talking about Konosora here. It does not have non-jp locale support (yet?). At least not full support.
