  1. Try this one as said by @binaryfail.

I've briefly played with Windows 10 and tried these installation methods: upgrading from Windows 8, as well as a clean install.

In both cases, the Japanese fonts like MS Gothic are not installed by default in Windows 10 (despite them being included in previous versions of Windows) which means they'll need to be installed from the control panel.

    To do that....

    1. bring up the Start Menu -> Settings

    2. click System

    3. pick Apps & Features (on the left)

    4. choose Manage optional features

    5. choose Add a feature

    6. find Japanese Supplemental Fonts and install it

    or this one

It might be the system's time/date format (which is not the timezone) -- try changing that to Japanese.

  2. Rather than a destructive escapism, I'd say that it's more of your escapism becoming a bad vice. "Something that you love that makes things worse" is just screaming a bad vice if you ask me. An action always affect something and it's not exactly always in your control. I'd like to think that weighing what is more important to me in every action I take is a good way of doing things. If this certain action I do, which I love, is having a more negative effect more than a positive one, I'd probably stop it. Then again, I can't be completely objective so which I 'value' more would be the one coming out on top.

But in this case it's something that's rather vital. I don't think people can handle great amount of mental stress without taking a break one way or another. And escapism is one common method that's actually quite effective, at least for me. I'd do something to forget things for a while and then tackle the problem later with a refreshed mind. Don't just leave it to solve itself and be on your way since it'll haunt you back regardless. If it can't be solved then at least get some closure or it'll always poke you at the back of your mind.

In the end it all comes down if you're willing to let go of something for the sake of another one. Getting everything you want isn't something that I would call human.

  3. Uhh are you guys gonna release another patch to fix some typos and bugs? I've listed down around 20 of 'em with screenshots but I'm not sure if I should continue since the errors are really minor (for me) but it is still something that can be improved on.

And thank you very much for the patch! I'm really enjoying it so far so thanks for the time and effort from the team.

  4. I don't really understand how to use this . .  . . . .

Just download the patch and rename it to a "patchx" where x is the highest patch number you have, plus 1.

    For example:

    I have patch.xp3, patch2.xp3, and patch3.xp3.

I'll download the patch I need and rename it to patch4.xp3 (because +1 of the highest patch number of what I have, which is patch3)

Don't forget to put it in the game folder!

    Hope this helps.

  5. Hey guys. I started playing this game a while back and I had a question that I didn't see any answer to so I figured I would ask. I've reached the 5th floor of Demon Hunt but how many floors are there to this dungeon and Dragon Hunt? Are there just yellow enemies that get progressively more difficult or do we eventually reach a boss room?

I'm a level 73 and I just fought Ayaka(Still can't find Cass in the yellow enemies) but I got some new demons so I have been leveling them in Demon Hunt, then I got curious and decided I wanted to try and reach the top but I don't know how long that will take me or if it's worth doing.

By the way, is it worth getting the adventurers for your party? (Well, I'm probably no where near getting them right now, but I'm curious.) I mean the crusader women in that black armor look awesome but I don't know if I can even get them and the Kensai women hit really hard, but I didn't know if it was worth switching out a Basiwyrm or Giant for, especially when my demons are level 45 and 47.

That map is until floor 7 and yes, there's a boss. It's on the upper left part of the last floor. You'll get some restoration points the further you go in. Some for skills and some for HP.

Tbh this game doesn't really require much planning and requires you to get the best gear/units or close. Darx is more than enough to destroy things and the other units are nothing but support. Personally, I've never tried the adventurers since the demon units are enough. Well this is just opinion tho.

  6. I don't really see the reason why not just use the both of them properly.

To me, eden* was the most visually appealing VN I've ever read. Reason being the usage of subtly-dynamic sprites (just the eyes move) and the blending with the background with the sprites made it more than enough for me. Sure, Nekopara did a more expressive sprites due to the e-mote system but that doesn't mean the static sprites aren't properly conveying the feelings of the characters. A good example would the Yuzsoft VNs that has sprites with a lot of variety that constantly changes.

I have no idea how much does this affects the production costs but the developers would think of things to shake things up like the current E-mote system. It's relatively new so there's still so much to improve, hopefully.

  7. Can someone take Nohman's request? My pc is out for maintance again and I've kept this without any progress for too long already. Sorry Nohman. T_T

I'll take this one then. I haven't really done anything since I always come up late lol.

    Edit: Done

  8. Finally finished with the last route!
Aoi's route was . . . something? The others can't really be called compelling but this one takes the cake. The conflict was lackluster and I think it was resolved too easily. Not that the others weren't but I think the way they resolved it was too cliche. Also, they made too many things go on simultaneously.

Done with the 3 routes and the only reason I can find as to why it was rated so low is because it was plain. Didn't strive for anything big but they didn't screw up in giving a bland story I guess. I didn't have any expectations at all when I started reading so I think that helped in my perception of a story such as this. It didn't tug at my heartsrings nor did it provoke any thoughts. Altough, the visuals were a good change of pace since it did use the E-mote system.

Summary in one sentence: It's so plain that people find it bad.

    Enjoy your stay~

  10. Just finished Karin's route and I still have no idea why this scored below 7. It's nothing grand but nothing terrible either. Karin's character isn't really that deep but goes well with her route. An aspiring idol that has a cool style but has a strange obssession with cute things. In a somewhat exaggerated way, her conflict is throwing away her ideals in exchange for an opportunity to reach her life-long dream. In a weak way, she wants to be cute but her dream asks for coolness. In how I see it, she's a teenage girl who reached the point in her life where you need to decide on what do you want to do. It's pretty relatable if you ask me since there are people that feel like this when taking on an opportunity for a greener pasture. The story didn't aim for much so it didn't achieve much.

One more route then I'll continue on reading Symphonic Rain which has been stalled for almost a year. The season's just right to fit with the story's setting~

  11. I just finished Sakura's route for Tokyo School Life and I am wondering why does it have a score less than 7. It was really educational, although I do doubt the credibility of the info since I don't feel like doing extensive research about Japan. Still, it's a good read. A bit cliche but it isn't really a chore to read. Or maybe the killing blow is in the other two routes.

Maybe I liked it too much because it somewhat fits my taste. A dying heroine is something that really hits me in the feels gland. Sakura was someone that was alive but also dead since she didn't expect a long life ahead of her. They kinda failed in giving her a 'detached' feel tho. The glaring flaw for me is the fact that they had a good buildup but completely blew it in the last hit. I'm not sure where it lacked but her breaking point didn't hit the intended effect for me. There was something off but I have no idea what.

I didn't see any voice actors in the credits so I have no idea who voiced the characters but they didn't give me a bad impression. Not bad but not great either. And the voice of Karin sounds like a cross between Chisato from Koichoco and Amane from Grisaia. Weird.

  12. I'm not saying she was playing the victim on purpose, obviously she was not, I'm saying that her role in the story was basically being a victim that you pity from the get go and I'm not a huge fan of that. It diminishes the character that she could have been and reduces them to a punching bag that you're forced to care about. Even the protagonist doesn't have any solid reasoning to go to her.

In Mizuki's route you end up meeting her because you're forced to help the student council which is fair enough and credible.

In Nekoko's route you end up going after Nekoko because she essentially barges into your work place and you kind of have to do something about it.

But Aeka's route is the only one where you just decide to go to her because she's getting bullied

Her story was still sad when you got to know more about her background and discover her personality, I really liked the later parts of her route quite a lot, but once again I struggled to find something that glued me to the screen as much because I just didn't feel as emotionally invested in her from the get go.

The way the game goes about her is what bugs me, it essentially is "Hey look at this poor bullied person, you better go save her".

There's no deeper meaning behind it, it's just trying to make you pity her as much as possible so you can get emotionally invested, and for that reason they're always trying super hard to make her miserable, sometimes pulling off ridiculous set ups for it.

I agree with how Aeka's character in her route played out. She was reduced to nothing but a victim and she didn't proactively do anything to end it. She just endured more of the bullying and it doesn't exactly solve her problem. While she did have reasons for doing so since she has quite the strange outlook on her own problem, it didn't solve anything at all. If anything, the protag is the one who solved her problems for her.

This is also one of the reasons why I liked Nekoko's route and as a character more than Aeka. After accepting that she had a problem, she did her best to overcome it and while the result was a bit exaggerated, she did it with the help of the people around her. The protag did his part in making Nekoko realize her problem and help her start. And for me, her doing her strange antics was more entertaining and enjoyable than watching Aeka get tortured.

Lastly, I didn't like how Aeka's problem dragged on through most of the route. They could've just get on with it earlier and made more for her recovery/resolution of the story.

    Tokyo School Life

    Summary

This is the story of your trip as an exchange student in Tokyo and the three girls you meet there.
Although you don't make the greatest first impression, you quickly settle into the kind of everyday life you've seen in anime and manga -- filled with laughs and tears.
By the time you have to head home two months from now, you might find that you've fallen for one of your new friends...

Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order

There are 4 available endings in the game: 3 good ends and 1 bad end. At the latter part of the game, you'll be given choices depending on the points you've accumulated. For a choice (route) to be available, you need at least 4 points for that particular heroine. In the case you failed to accumulate at least 4 points in either heroines, you'll end up with the bad end.

After completing the three routes, you'll get a bonus message from the developers.

    Attribution

This walkthrough is based on info attained on a guide made by Amagami no Daisuki with some adjustments made by me.

  14. I thought the other paths have been translated by Staircasesubs (aka.patch2)? If the other paths do not have translations and someone can give them to me, i will gladly add them to the patch.

The released patch only translated Common Route and Elina's. Although according to the translator, they managed to translate everything besides Miu but didn't release any patch. Whether it is true or not is unconfirmed. At least from what I know.

  15. One thing I think you might be missing about Katawa Shoujo: a big, big point of the story is that the characters' disabilities aren't related to the problems they have (and when I say characters, I include not just the heroines, but also Hisao). It's a moral the game likes to harp on: disabled people are not defined by their disabilities.

I do completely agree with you that the conflicts in the game are just not heavy enough to leave a huge impact, really.

I believe that is exactly the problem. This game is about the disabled girls. I really appreciate the fact that they didn't make the girls look like helpless people because of their disabilities but they didn't even use it and like I said before, just became a normal trait. If the other routes are similar to Emi's in this aspect, then they just made a romance VN with heroines and their tragic pasts. Then we arrive at the same problem. All they did was get closure on the events that happened a few years ago, which didn't really leave much of an impression.

  16. Yay another LN reader!

LNs and VNs are both fun to read and if you've already read some LNs then I guess you're prepared to sit for a few hours straight when reading a VN.

    Anyway, welcome to the forums!

  17. More adjustable bewbz bounciness!

I haven't even finished the first installment because their chests were distracting me of being easily side tracked while I was playing it.

And does anyone know what specifically does it have? I know it's a fandisk and all but idk extra routes or just some cutesy side stories or somethin'.

  18. You are not alone ;) I also really disliked Emi route. Well, mostly because Emi was in it :P Being genki type is bad, being genki type that engages in sport is terrible, being genki type that engages in sport and isn't at least kind boke with big heart is beyond salvage. However that's not just preferences. Romance is just not enjoyable. She don't want to get close, turning hostile when you try to help her and don't really care who she is with as long as sex is hard and preferably anal -.-' Also there is not enough plot and it's not good enough to accept this crappy romance. One could say "it's good, because it's realistic", but I read VN looking for enjoyment, not just realism.

So yea, you are not alone and there are people that disliked Emi route (probably) even more than you did :P

I don't necessarily hate Emi. In fact, I went for her route since she had a bubbly personality and I don't hate that kind of thing. It's just that her route was rather bland and didn't have much to offer. Predictable, to say the least, but I felt no hate for the heroine of the route. She's not useless. After all, Hisao himself said that he believes that she can solve her own problem but he still wants to help. Also, I picked up Katawa Shoujo and it's pretty obvious that it would have have drama and romance elements in it so I can say that I expected it and wanted to enjoy it if possible. It would be strange if I viewed the romance genre as boring and picked up an obviously romantic VN and say that it's crap. That's just using the wrong tool for the wrong job.

Lastly, I have no idea where you got the idea but she's not the type to just have sex with anyone. She did say that she had a boyfriend before but broke up with him. Hisao ended up being too close but also had the guts (maybe tactlessness) to force his kindness on stubborn Emi.

I just want to clear it up since I didn't hate the route because of Emi but simply because of how bland and predictable it is. Maybe a bit of Hisao too but that's another story.
