  1. Probably a combination of Persona 4 and running out of anime and manga with what I was looking for. After Persona 4 I started looking at VNs as something similar and then when I ran out of anime and manga I wanted to watch/read I went back to VNs and found some that really piqued my interest.

There was something else that got me into them but I can't remember the reason I had for it now...

  2.

shadowwolf64 I must warn you the version that cost 14 dollars is the one without voices. The one including voices cost more.

14 dollars for the voiceless edition, if you are going to buy it then you should buy it with voices, it's another whole experience also the voice acting is really good like in most of the akabei novels.

Ah thanks for that. I would have bought the wrong one. And I do want to read it but I would like to see the definitive version which appears to be none of them at the moment. Since the new version looks better but is cropped and missing content.

  3. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and buy it on Steam. It's only like $14 right now as its opening sale which is good. (Regular price $20) I don't like that the CGs are cropped and it doesn't include the H-scenes, but on the other hand I want them to continue releasing VNs in an official and convenient manner so I'm torn...

  4. I'm still pretty new to VNs but I'll give the more general things that turn me off to things (which extends to VNs). he first is anything that is just depressing. I mean something that's main appeal is being depressing. I don't mind if something is sad but at a certain point I no longer want to engage with it. Life is sad enough in my opinion, I don't need to seek out depression as entertainment. (If you can still call it that)

One of the others is huge tits. I like my anime women to look like they could actually exist in real life. Large are fine, but about the size of Momoyo from Majikoi or Amane from Grisaia is about the biggest I'm interested in.

  5. Didn't get Kawakami Momoyo from Majikoi but did get Kagome from Inuyasha pretty quickly. Guess it goes to show how much more people will think of anime characters than VN characters.

Also that Inuyasha is pretty mainstream so it might not actually mean much of anything... but whatever.

The key for Akinator giving you more precise answers is not answering too many Don't Know, Probably Not.

If you can answer questions with only Yes or No, Akinator can be pretty spot on. This means you need to have a good knowledge of your character. Yes, he can get pretty complex anime/vn characters as long as the vn has been translated or has a really popular wiki built around it.

Yeah I probably did answer too many Don't Knows and Probablys. With Momoyo in particular I feel kinda weird answering some questions like "can your character use magic?" or "can your character fly?". Well its not called magic but in reality you can't shoot beams out of your hand and hover in mid air for your fights so... Guess I should have just picked an answer though.

  6. Btw I just realized the reason I put Lovely x Cation on my wishlist was because it appears to have 2 older heroines. Says its a dating sim though so I'm not sure exactly how it plays but it does seem to have older heroines at least. It is currently being translated and seems to be moving at a decent pace so hopefully we'll see it translated soon.

  7. Like the title says what upcoming translation are you most looking forward to? Official or fan translation.

Mine are Clannad and G-Senjou no Maou from Sekai Project (yes I know they are already translated but I want to see the official translation effort before I play them). For fan translations I am most looking forward to Clover Day's and Amagami. Although I am much less familiar with what projects people are working on in the fan translation scene since they don't have people doing marketing for them.

Anyway thought this might be interesting for a discussion, plus would let me see what is on the horizon that I should be looking at.

  8. Damn, that thread necro.

But for the actual topic. I find it depends on the novel. I typically do not like it since it means I skip through a lot on my next reading but it can also be enjoyable.

The thing I really don't like is when the common route and heroine routes aren't divided into separate sections so you have to go through the common route every time you read a new route just with some new scenes switched for others. I understand why it is done because it does make more sense to a degree, but it makes me want to read one route and then be done.
