Well rance 5 was almost done so it is partially true. Well another good reason to learn japanese. I was pissed off when they dropped daiteikoku, now i don't care as much.
 
 
Sucks they're not jumping in with something big like daiteikoku or rance games. 

I'm pretty shameless, and eroges don't typically get me "excited" most of the time, however being the shameless man that I am, there has been on more than one occasion that I have been "caught" (I quote that because it's not really getting caught if you don't care, right?) by my cousin while laughing at amusing sex scenes in VN's. Particularly of note was a couple weeks ago actually, when I was finishing up Neko Para Vol 1, and if you've played it, well... the h-scenes are pretty uh... Animated? Heh.

Basically, I'm sitting there in awe of how animated it was and with my fascination with neko's who happen to be IN MAID ATTIRE, I didn't quite notice my cousin walking in my room until the last second. There was a good five seconds of silence as I continued to click my mouse, half-heartedly watching while my cousin stared from the screen to my face multiple times, to my crotch, then back to my face, blinked a dozen times, twitched, and finally said, "You're joking, right? Right? You would do something like that and not care..."
 
Yep. I'm that one guy that doesn't care if his female cousin walks in on him shamelessly watching a good plowing take place while simply shrugging and saying, "Look at it! It's animated! So cute right?!" 
 
But you know, this happens often for me, and I never really cared, and I can casually talk about sex, porn, or other lewd things with family/friends/random people with no worries. Of course I know TPO well, but I'm not easily embarrassed by those things I guess. If anything, it's actually amusing for me when/if I do get "caught" because the other person ends up being the embarrassed one!
 
I'm weird, I know.

So, like, I spent a lot of my time as a second year in highschool playing Sengoku Rance.
I never bothered with hiding it from my brothers, so they know there's sex in it.
My brother, 6 years old back then, was asking me why they were doing it.
I just replied, "The protagonist is a pervert."
 
So one day, when I was boarding the train, I got a message from my mom.
It said something of this context:

experienced my personal moment of shame during spring, last year. went to a job interview in a well known hotel in marsaille/france and diligent as i am, arrived there ~1 hour earlier. sooo whilest sitting bored in the hallway and waiting for my turn to come, i decided to prepare myself a bit mentally. thus i took out my netbook & continued playing "Sora No Mukou De Sakimasu You Ni", including scenes where 2 people do stuff and yeahh.......
needless to say, i got some malicious glances from my surroundings, needless to say as time passed by i got a pretty bad boner, needless to say the dude sitting next to me was not some average dude, no that one was the f&b manager on his break, needless to say i totally screwed up...

I'm normally very careful when playing VNs but there was this one time at bandcamp- oh. Nevermind.
Anyway, back when I was a teen (like a couple of centuries ago) I left my PC on and went off elsewhere.
After like 1 hour I returned only to find my sister playing "True Love" (The dating sim) which I left paused.
I quickly removed her from the premises and told her she shouldn't play this stuff as it wasn't for girls.
She would still sneak in and play whenever I wasn't around and even got to finish it. the H-scenes didn't faze her.    

Aaeru who wrote the guide learned Japanese in this style. Her Japanese got strong enough where she even fan translated for awhile. The most important part is to read. Once you get RTK and Tae Kim's Grammar out of the way, read! With the help of Jparser and a Text hooker, once you know Japanese grammar you are more or less set. In my opinion RTK isn't necessary, but highly beneficial if you choose to do it. Personally I'm currently making the transition from RTK to grammar and reading. From what I have noticed, all the people who know Japanese fairly well on this site prioritized reading after getting the grammar down. Recognizing Kanji and knowing grammar won't do anything for you unless if you constantly expose yourself to the written language. Also, memorizing vocabulary doesn't seem that necessary because you will naturally learn words by running across them enough in reading.
