Confession: I just looked at my schedule after a week-long vacation, and the first day I see is that I have a Biology course test right the next day

    Welp, fuck me :wahaha:

Kids were complaining about that here too.  They were bitching about how we have a genetics test after spring break and how they didn't want to study over break.

Anyone know how to reset SadPanda password?

It's the same account as http://e-hentai.org/, so trying there would be the right place to start.  I don't know the specifics since I have google save my passwords I don't really care about.

Because I'm so horribad I need to play Awakening on easy. Fk perma-deaths, I know you can just reset and git gud at the game if someone dies during a mission, but frankly I am a filthy casual. qq

Never play any of the earlier games then. They don't give you that option. It's always permanent death and normal difficulty. It's only after you beat that do you get the choice to "level out" the stat growth to be predictable and make the game harder.

Though, the gba games had a soft reset trick to roll the game back a few turns provided you saved. Can't remember if game cube games allowed it.

I don't envy those of you who were looking forward to this. Do you see his soul in those dead, dead eyes?  I certainly don't.

  5. So I decided to pick up where I left off of Grimgar.

    LOL

You can totally see the theme shift after episode 5 in episode 6.  The opening went full fanservice.  I don't know the ratings, but I can only assume Grimgar went down and they were desperately trying to keep it up.

Unfortunately, the issue I had with the show from before still stands, and I'm forced to rename the show Grimgar: of Hymns and Arias.  I had a few other joke names too, like Arias of the Opera, of Hymns and Psalms, and Stills and Songs.  Seriously, that last one is this show to a fucking tee.  How many times are they going to fill time with a few parallaxing stills with a tune over top of it.  It's at the point where at least 20 minutes of the show has been only that.

Pretty much yeah, and for sure don't turn on the AC as that will only make the engine hotter.

  7. Me and my friend researched this game briefly last weekend. The big reason why we ultimately decided to not try it was because the Korean game already had it's support dropped.  The game is pretty much dead over there and it will most likely not receive updates in the NA release.  This is the reason for the buy-in.

First off, thank you for supporting the release, OP, much appreciated. And the same to anyone else who has supported Atom GRRRL!! or any of our other releases...be it on Denpasoft or Steam.

To address some of your questions/concerns: The primary function of this download limit is to prevent account sharing. Yes, the game is still DRM-free, but we hope that people will want to support the blossoming western VN community/industry by acquiring the titles legitimately: i.e. purchasing them directly from their publisher or development circle or from trusted third party services like Steam. We also understand that internet access and bandwidth issues can be finicky and downright troublesome at times, so if a registered user has an issue(s) downloading a title they have purchased that can be easily remedied by contacting Denpasoft support. :)

    And I'm justified. Thank you.

Christ this is a cluster fuck of an idea. FACEPALMDESK

As an afterthought and rereading your post, I feel I should clarify that the talk about bandwidth was the idea that you were doing this to save money for bandwidth on your end.

I just find it amusing that I'm the only person here who has wished him ill and didn't get railed for it :wahaha:

I said probably because it's the likely reason since it's been done before by many others but i didn't jump to coclusions..my gripe is with the measure itself not the reason behind it.

When someone pays and buys a copy of the game be it downloadable or physical, that person has the right to download it when he/she needs it...restricting them for whatever reason will only damper and damage your image with your loyal followers or supporters and while the reason for doing so whichever it may be might be understandable it still doesn't mean you should put everyone in the same bag and restrict everyone.

Those are just my two cents

Unfortunately, in the current market, it isn't a right because it isn't a good.  It's a license. By using their service you agree to a EULA which basically says that you don't own jack shit. This is a whole other can of worms which we probably shouldn't derail into.

  11. 2 minutes ago, Deep Blue said:

limiting downloads only hurt the customers, once you have the copy you can upload it and share it via torrent or a file hosting while the owner is still cripple by this nonsense, any person with a bit of common sense can understand this so I don't think they did it for a drm reason.

It's probably a way to manage their bandwidth which is really expensive.

The reason I refuse to believe it is bandwidth costs is that if they are doing digital distribution then this is the FIRST thing they should have sorted out.  If they can't even deliver things properly to the consumer then they shouldn't be selling them in the first place.  And if they wanted to limit bandwidth costs, there would be much better ways of doing so, such as a refractory period where you can't download the game again if you downloaded it recently.  In fact, this is a better solution if you also consider the idea of selling copies of the game via selling accounts that someone brought up earlier, no consumer would download the game 5 times in a week, but say over a year? That's entirely plausible.

That's the reason why I say this has to be a piracy measure.  The only other reasonable alternative, bandwidth costs, would be sending far worse messages about the state of their internal finances, and would personally make me far more wary about the stability of the company that any piracy measure would be.

Guys, I know you probably think everyone at Sekai Project is stupid but it seems pretty obvious to me that they do know how piracy works.

If you find yourselves in the very unlikely case that you've reached the download limit, just send them a mail explaining your situation. That's what Mangagamer does already used to do. Those companies are small and reactive enough that you're not likely to ever be bothered by this.

I would be inclined to agree with you if they didn't do something that literally hurts only people who pay for a copy.  As I pointed out in the third post, the game is already DRM free, so adding this purchasing layer of DRM does absolutely nothing to curb actual piracy. The only things this accomplishes is to stop people from downloading from official sources and reduce their server costs.

Sure, Sekai Project/Denpa Soft may know what piracy is, but they clearly lack understanding of what it is, and why DRM is used.  Think about if steam limited you to 3 downloads, I can guaruntee you the platform would have crumbled and not taken off. Steam realizes this is the utmost of consumer unfriendly ideas and is actually pro-piracy because people can't get what they want from official sources.  What do you get when you don't download something from official sources? Piracy.

You know what, I take everything back, Sekai Project knows what piracy is and is clearly embracing the idea of it. /sarcasm

I've picked up and put down Shinsekai Yori twice now, the last time at about 10 episodes through. Like you said, the production values and the execution are excellent, and that's why I go back to it (and still want to go back to it again and finish, or at least make some progress), but the dark tone makes me have a lot of trouble keeping with it. I get easily distracted by anything a little bit brighter - clearly my mind's way of telling me that it doesn't want to be watching the show. I agree with pretty much everything you said.

The execution and plot do it for me.  It fully felt like the show thought every last detail through from start to finish, which makes sense because it was a book, but it also didn't compromise on the rest of the values as well.  That dark perspective actually comes from what I believe was HG Well's The Time Machine if I'm not mistaken(it was some notable work of that era), from which Shin Sekai Yori novel was almost a rehash of.

  14. Another silly stupid move from people who don't understand what piracy is.  All I can see this doing is forcing people who have legitimately bought the game to torrent it after they use up their download limits. As it is already DRM free, it would be faster to pirate it via torrent than go through their servers already.

All right fine, I'll just be honest with myself and won't beat around the bush with what I'm trying to say:

With K and G he probably means the row(like he did in the picture), like K = (a)か(i)き(u)く(e)け(o)こ and G=がぎぐげご the same, it's not silly if he actually learns from it and that's a valid method of learning. Even if he wants he cannot learn just a K or t+d etc because it doesnt exist the only syllable without a vowel is the n

now if you mean why study ただ if you know that adding the ten ten (dakuten) again it's a method of study that a lot of people use because is not easy to remember when you start that ta becomes da by adding the "apostrophes" the same with the rest.

Yeah, this.  I've met people who couldn't understand the concept of the dakuten is literally just changing the way you voice things.  Any simple observation in how you move your tongue in your mouth (from english at least, it's near identical) when pronouncing them immediately gives away why they are laid out like that.

This is my locker, and the first things I've started practicing. The vowels, "K' and "G"

Is it just me or my "Ko" and "Go" are pretty bad?

It shouldn't have to be said, but the inflector on the kana literally just corrupts the sound, so memorizing t+d, k+g, h/f+b+p, and s+z separately is somewhat silly.  I've met people who tried to memorize them separately and facepalmed. There is no point in memorizing 100 pieces of information compared to ~60.

You won't be disappointed as the standard does not change throughout. Some people found the second last episode hard going but I thought it fit in perfectly with the conclusion after that. Your enthusiasm for it has made me decide to rewatch it from scratch myself again... which must make this the 4th time for me.

You know. I really expect him to post another mega post about his reflection on the show like he did for Zero no Tsukaima.  It may not be nearly as epic, but I think it has similar impact and rises in the series. As for the penultimate episode, I fully agree.  The was it was depicted was really nice for the setting and mood it was trying to portray.

Yo, how was Charlotte? Half way through the first episode and it seems like shit. Drop or keep going?

IIRC the seasonal thread decided that you get SoL until episode 7, at which point you get 4 episodes of plot, and then episodes 11 and 12 are really dumb.  I would check the seasonal thread for actual opinions, but my impression of it is "Jun Maeda; Key; didn't watch.  Thread didn't seem to like it awfully much; feel justified; life is good."

Holy crap you guys are right, I've watched my share of things but only 1 episode in and Rakudai Kishi indeed has a breath of fresh air feel to it and you just know they played the tropes right.

Ikki x Stella already have some top-notch banter and interactions, right down to their first meeting with Ikki's lolreverse-strip to the classic hard worker untalented vs. (hard worker(!)) talented duel topped off with Stella's reverse-perverted-curiosity and finally a touching "your first order as my slave is to be my roommate" by humble 'ol Ikki, commence fistbump :3

    Looking forward to great things,

... am I the only person here who didn't have any significant problems with anything other than memorizing kanji (it got easier once I memorized the radicals)?

Memorizing the language is simply easy, I just haven't found any clear answer to the kun/on-yomi question I have of when to use which and why.  So instead I've just been memorizing vocab and the kanji meanings and assume I'll pick up on how to read the kanji from the vocab and actual reading. The language itself is fairly simple and uses semi standard conjugations and declensions which I learned how to use from Latin, so I doubt grammar if going to be any real issue. It's just that damn reading question is the only thing I don't have an answer for.
