  1. Nosebleed can you add my info onto the first post

    Eclipsed - 199707075

    I saw the little debate on single draws vs 10+1 draws from earlier; Any advice on how I should go about this? I don't have any SR's yet

    ~~~
    Edit: Oh, and just a status update: Rank 28, this is like my 4th day of playing? But man I'm so bad xD I bombed the hard songs during my first few days and just now am barely finally able to FC some of them.
    Then I tried some of the expert songs and got demolished instantly. #sadlife
    One day I'll get better...
  2. What I found with Ageha's route was that I understood the plot as a whole but the individual pieces that made it up were nothing short of confusing. I always though Hotaru hung out with Aoi to give the teachers the impression that his time was now dedicated to girls rather then gliding, but if this thread is to be believed, i was way off.
    Nah, you're right, that's exactly why Hotarou was so prominent for the first half of the route, to make the teachers not suspect the Soaring Club.
  3. Ah, finally a general discussion thread about LB. I wanted to talk about this VN but didn't find a place to start. Now is my chance.
    First, is it true that the western players are all playing the original Little Busters that has only 6 character routes?  If so, it's such a pity that the enhanced version Little Busters EX (or better, Little Busters PERFECT EDITION, which is the best version on PC) has a revised plot, new CGs and BGM, and 9 character routes, including a new heroine, saya, whose route is of high quality, plus her theme song is nice too. I do hope the perfect edition will be translated into English someday or else western audience will be missing out on a lot of new content and plot, and I'll have to always refrain from sharing my thoughts on these new contents in this forum for fear of spoiler.
    Omg yeah I totally wanted to read the EX! version, but it's not finished translating!!! It's at about 85% at the moment.
    I had to settle for watching the subbed anime adaptation  :ph34r:
  4. Let's not derail, folks  :P.
    I guess this post (if you can call it anything) is just a small concern I have for the members of this website. What will it take to keep people motivated? As an active member who is always trying to create projects for the community, I feel that people are starting to lose interest in a lot of things that help make this website tick. The logo contest is no longer a thing, and the MOTM for September has not been posted.
    I think it's very, very interesting though that maefdomn would leave the community due to the "85% of threads are about anime, worthless chat and pointless games."
    I wonder if maefdomn classifies Ren's games as part of the "pointless games"...? B-but I like Ren's games..
  5. UiF1ecV.jpg
    Nice "eyes", Kotori.
    10/10 translation would read again.
    Ageha's route was a mess
    But basically
    Ageha becomes out of focus in the first half of the route because she's busy doing things behind the scenes to ensure the Soaring Club's success(things that could result in expulsion if teachers were to find out, apparently) which causes Aoi to think she's distancing herself from the group so he starts to wonder why.
    In the meantime we get some fanservice via Ageha's sister Hotarou whom she assigns to hang out with the group in her place (one of the reasons being to make the douche teacher Mr. Tobioka not suspect that the Soaring Club didn't halt their activities)
    ~~~ Various scenes occur which make absolutely no sense whatsoever ~~~

     We eventually learn that Aoi confessed to Ageha as a kid and that an "accident" happened to Ageha in the past. Hotarou knows what happened, and so she bargains to let Aoi know in exchange for going on a date with him since she clearly has a thing for him.

    On their date Aoi was tempted to kiss Hotarou but he remembers his feelings towards Ageha and rejects Hotarou. Hotarou is relieved though, claiming she loves Ageha as well and so she's fine with that. Aoi decides he'll find out what's going on with Ageha himself.

    Aoi tries to figure out why Ageha has been so distant; one day it rains and so the two rush for shelter and bam have sex. Aoi tells Ageha he loves her, but she essentially replies "cool story bro" and doesn't return the love. Aoi continually attempts to confront what's going on in Ageha's head but is shut up by sex, sex, and more sex.

    Aoi has an inner monologue breakdown when he suspects that Ageha sees him as a sex friend rather than loving him.

    Finally the glider is completed but Ageha is nowhere to be found. Aoi abandons his pilot duties to go after Ageha and they finally talk.
    • Ageha's "accident" in the past was that she stubbornly stayed at their childhood hangout place despite it being scheduled for being demolished.
    • Ageha avoided being at the glider's completion due to paranoia that once the Soaring Club's objective was complete, everyone would go their separate ways (all good things come to an end)
    • She doesn't see him as a sex friend, but she is afraid of commitment to Aoi because the last time he confessed to her, he moved the day after and their childhood hangout spot was demolished. Unfortunately she never gets over this and will never directly tell Aoi that she loves him.

    Aoi then rides the morning glory along with Kotori as Ageha cheers them on (and mouths, "I love you"? to Aoi)

  6. Kurugaya's route is one that requires alot of thinking to get the most out of it. Which is why it can appear lackluster to some people.

    The first time you play her route yes, all the supernatural shit going on is so confusing it makes you lose track about the themes that are supposed to be portrayed in her route.

    Once you complete Refrain and take the time to reflect on her route then you can sort of understand the tragic elements of it

    As for the Kurugaya's "true route"

    Y'know how Riki was all like "I won't forget!" And pre-refrain it's all tragic because he really does forget once the world resets and all, but post-refrain the ending scene with Kurugaya shows that Riki does indeed remember so it's pretty damn sweet in that aspect.

    But yeah the amount of effort you have to put in to come to these conclusions is overkill and I may even be completely wrong about these conclusions xD

  7. A lot of us aren't as interested in those things, Down. Or at least that's what the relative subforum popularity suggests. I don't like reading reviews, I'm not big into analysis, and I don't have a big enough list of completed vns to be able to read most of the threads on vntalk anyway. Should I just leave?

    The problem is that you're seeing this as a new development. Which it is, but that's completely natural. The first people to join this community were heavily entrenched in the work of spreading vns, or at least the vns themself. As you get more popular, you attract a wider array of people. People who enjoy vns, but not as much as maybe anime or manga; who enjoy the community and try to help spread it's message just by making the community more vibrant. That's just because you've already trrapped a lot of the hardcore visual novel enthusiasts already.

    If you want a strictly visual novel forum, you're going to have to implement changes that will effectively take this site back in time, removing the more stray fans such as myself. Or you could just produce more content, but whining about how we don't produce enough as is won't do anything. We are in our natural state.

    And furthermore, for outsiders, the first thing they see is the front page, then the vn talk and projects subforums. THEN, if they like the site, they'll join or start lurking around GD and Anime/Manga. You only see all the non-vn stuff because you're here all the time. My first days as a lurker were spent in the vn focused subforums.

    Yay Tay

    Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I think Down was just clarifying to Heizei what maefdomn was complaining about rather than it was him stating that he wanted the forums to be strictly visual novel discussion based.

    I sympathize with maefdomn's desire for more productive VN discussions from the community, but I also sympathize with those who aren't as interested in VN discussions and instead prefer the G&D/anime sections. Those come down to the individual's preferences on what they want from the forum after all.

    It's pointless though to argue whether the forums should be purely VN-based or VN-based with G&D/anime sections. In the end the community will decide what it wants to do and unfortunately for maefdomn the "85% of threads are about anime, worthless chat and pointless games" is what the community wants to do right now xD. It's a shame if people really left for these reasons, though.

    I'll admit that I do desire a good VN discussion every now and then and I find that these forums are severely lacking in that respect. Yes, there is activity in the VN Talk section, but it's mostly trivia related stuff like "what are you playing, what's your favorite VN, when do you consider a VN completed" etc. etc.

    When I recently finished G-Senjou no Maou I posted my thoughts on a thread that I was referred to via the index of reviews/discussions sticky but no one followed up. Obviously there are plenty of factors which could explain why no one replied (such as what I had to say was simply a #coolstorybro and not really able to be followed up), but it was still pretty discouraging :P.

    I shouldn't discredit the recent Little Busters! and Fate Stay threads though; those do indeed have some good discussions going on (I personally enjoyed giving my thoughts on Little Busters!), however when compared to the amount of activity in G&D/G&C it's not hard to see why maefdomn is upset. I personally enjoy G&D/G&C alot though.

    As for Tay, I wish him the best in getting well soon. I was still relatively new at the time so when I PM'ed him to verify some of those random walkthroughs that I made. He simply thanked me for the hard work and told me to PM one of the moderators instead because "he was away from a PC," so when I finally learned of his deteriorating health I just felt so bad  :unsure:.

    Get well soon Tay!!!!!!!!

  8. I feel like Kurugaya's route was actually the least memorable for me. I can remember the specific conflicts for all of the other girls, but for some reason, I only have vague memories of Kurugaya. She was a great heroine for sure, and as I'm rereading the common route, I'm remembering how much I liked her. But her route was one of the weakest, imo.

    Not to say it was terrible, though, it was still a fun read. Love-Love Hunters was great.

    That's because Kurugaya's so badass that she doesn't have any specific conflict :P

    Arvis don't read this since you're still reading Kurugaya's route. (Actually, don't read this until you've beaten Refrain haha)

    Another spoiler tag just incase you clicked.

    Yeah, Kurugaya's route feels less personal/memorable than the other heroines because the writers decided to use her route to be the one that hints towards the "secret of the world" the most, but given a bit of analysis her route was actually pretty darn tragic.

    If I recall correctly, Kurugaya's regret was that she wasn't able to experience emotions. So naturally, with the help of our good guy Riki, she was able to experience emotions like anger, happiness, love, etc etc. so technically the world should have reset once that happened like it does when the other heroines resolve their regrets, however being able to experience emotions instead made Kurugaya have a new wish: for things to stay as they are.

    That's what causes the world to flip out and have all of those inconsistencies towards the end of her route and my god the feels were real when she realized that what she was doing was selfish and that she had to let Riki go. (and ultimately forget everything in the process).

  9. Well, that makes me feel a little better.  I was so excited for the baseball game and then got slaughtered.  It was very discouraging.  I didn't expect to win, but... 13-2.... ugh...

    -Arvis

    Yeah, I totally was excited for the baseball game on my first playthrough too.

    I don't think my team even scored a single point :ph34r:

  10. I didn't :(

    But I turned off the baseball game for 3 of the routes.

    Riki & Rin's stats will increase on a next playthrough upon completing a route regardless of whether or not baseball practice is turned on or off, but yeah in a particular playthrough if baseball practice is turned off you're guaranteed to lose the baseball game (since nobody will gain stats from practice)

  11. Anyways, my latest update:

    The Little Busters finally played their first baseball game! YAY!

    I lost 13-2. Booo... T_T

    Did I do something wrong? Is there any way I can win? I heard that Riki and Rin get higher stats in the "true" route, or whatever. Is that the only time I could realistically win this match?

    Incidentally, both my runs were scored by Kurugaya, unsurprisingly. She also won the Battle Rankings, too, having suffered only ONE loss the entire time. And, oddly, that loss was to Riki.

    I may be taking a break from LB for a while now, though, to do something else. We'll see. I won't be starting another VN, though.

    -Arvis

    Yeah, the first baseball game is impossible to win.

    After clearing each heroines route and starting over, Riki and Rin's stats do indeed get higher to the point where they will wreck everybody on like your last playthrough.

  12. My problems with LB are the same problems I have with most KEY VNs - too much bloat and filler (too many scenes which have no purpose) and replaying the common route is an absolute chore.

    I also have a philosophical problem with requiring the game be replayed 6 times before being able to obtain the ‘true’ ending.

    ^Key certainly fixed the bloat and filler issues that plagued Little Busters! when they made Rewrite huh :P.

    Seriously. Who knows why they even threw in all of those quests and "collect 100 friends" BS. That was a damn chore to do and nigh impossible without a walkthrough.

    Back on topic I realized I didn't really share my thoughts on Little Busters! so I'll do so now.

    It was my second VN. I enjoyed the common route. Enjoyed Rin1 -> Enjoyed Haruka -> Played a little bit of Komari's then skipped through along with Kud/Kurugaya/Mio -> Enjoyed Rin2 -> Very much enjoyed Refrain

    LOL sorry... I read too many reviews going "REFRAIN!!!<33!@!##" that I grew impatient and couldn't resist.

    Tried to go back and play the character routes again but lost motivation.

    ~~~
    Don't shoot me  :ph34r:
    Edit 1: I swore to myself I wouldn't make the same mistake ever again and when it came to Rewrite I enjoyed every last minute of it from start to finish
  13. Oh, wow- this got a thread.
    I've said good luck already, but I forgot wether or not you got any congratulations from me...
    Well, congratulations, nii-chan?
    inb4 someone thinks I'm nosebleed~
    Back when I was a few days old, I mixed you two up soo much
    Best of luck to you with your education Nosebleed~
  14.  It was so hard to not choose Rin to come with me (she's my clear favorite so far and definitely the most interesting heroine), but I don't like doing "main character" routes right off the bat when I start a VN.  Although, perhaps, with LB that might not have been a bad idea.
