  1. Heee, i see...

for this case, i'm not using fulscreen mode, i'm using normal mode and use "magnifier tool" from Windows7 (docking mode) in text area. hmm. i cant show the picture cause my flyable heart game is left behind in my hometown. i can't reach it for now...

Actually, i have a lot of question for you. especially for one background that changed after i patched original one with yours. the background is blurred photo, looks like inside of orange-colored hallway. well, i just wonder what is that. (once again, i cant show the picture T_T)...

translation quality is pretty good. not like machine translation at all. good work.

my only sugesstion: change "*** is my favourite child" to "*** is my favourite girl". 'Child' word sounds funny for describing how you like someone...

I think you mean one of the test images, that was there for the early alpha/beta releases and forgot to be removed. You can put this in the install directory to fix that: http://www.mediafire.com/?aeh8f6jcg2odcen

  2. REtrans International you think this is a good Vn to start to read with? (I can only read kanji' date=' kana's and understand quite much talking 'audio') Somewhat simple word use?[/quote']We didn't do the translation, but heard from others that it's one of the easier ones.

The text box is a limited size so it was a tight fit getting some of the very-much-longer-than-Japanese lines in there without cutting things off. Fullscreen mode might help if you find it too small. Nothing we know of about FCH but it was on the roadmap at one point. We do have an upcoming release of KNNWSNY that's currently being stalled waiting for some video subs (thinking of just releasing the main translation patch and catching up the rest later. Thoughts?)

  3. Does the engine support Japanese Locale? I've noticed that many engines do not work properly under Japanese Locale.
    You mean English?

We do resource extraction and insertion, patch releases, etc. and offer a web-based interface so multiple translators can work on a project anywhere, anytime. No installation or download required just a relatively recent web browser.

We're currently a bit backed-up with other stuff but if you make a request you'll be queued and we'll take a look once your turn comes up.

Contact us for more information (see signature).

  4. [*]Another question has to do with the current state of browsing through the list of novels available. Currently, there are 3 pages, although there is no way to know that unless one were to count. Furthermore, each page is directed to "https://fuwanovel.net/novels".'>https://fuwanovel.net/novels". While I like to open each page in new tabs, this is pretty much a hypothetical situation... Suppose one were on the second page, and clicks on Katahime or Kanon or something. Then they press back. They are redirected back to the first page since the last known page to my browser is "https://fuwanovel.net/novels" rather than where they were last. I'm not quite sure what would fix this, but I think your coder might know what I'm getting at. (I think some websites use #(text here) at the end of the address/url or w/e to solve this problem)
That is an artifact of the rather... perverse way in which the list is being displayed. If you look at the source of the page you'll see that all the entries are downloaded at once... I can see this being a big scalability problem :o

Also browse is completely nonfunctional without JavaScript enabled. Unless your intention was to prevent search engines from indexing what VNs you have here, not a good idea.

And if you decide to implement a search feature, this is not how you should do it.

  5. The point is, if they give us all the text I can do it, but the problem is I'm not that fast translating but if they don't mind with that. I can. Also, if I need the game, or to play it, It must be impossible since I don't have PSP

I believe we extracted the text of this game or one of its versions a while ago and put it up in an RWI instance for translating, you may find it here:

    http://rechan.eu.org/go/retrans-oip

(One of the projects contains pieces of a botched import from TLwiki; feel free to overwrite it with your work if it's the one you had in mind.)

  6. Storage is cheap and text requires a minimal amount of it, so one easy solution is to store all submitted versions of a line, along with their associated user. Others can set a preference for what user's lines they'd like, and essentially give their own ranking to the translations. E.g. someone likes user1's translations and thinks user2's are ok, then he can set user1,user2 in that order and the system will display, for each line, submissions from user1, and if there aren't any, then user2's, and if there aren't any, then default to whoever else was the last to have submitted a translation for that line.

This will also solve any edit wars; if two translators disagree on how one line should be translated each user can choose and receive whose lines they prefer.

  7. Good to see this initiative is gaining activity.

His 4th item is particularly interesting, as a SQL-based backend means many existing standards-based tools can be used to process the translation data, and it naturally fits with the formats we use for text extraction/insertion, making realisation of one-click patch creation/download considerably easier.

We've done some (very minimal) planning around the 2nd item; I'd be interested in hearing what sorts of ideas he has. Perhaps using manually input translation data for sMT engine training? There's been a lot of linguistics research into this but for general MT and not specifically targeted at VNs, so maybe a targeted approach may yield much better results.

I'd say definitely invite Jichi here if you haven't already. It looks like he'll be an invaluable asset.
