  1. Japanese always fixed-width, they will always do that when they use their own text rendering code because they don't really care any other language.
  2. Ten years ago - Tuesday September 17, 2013 - our Founding Mother, Aaeru, made her last post on Twitter, and was never heard from again. No one seems to really know what happened to her, and in fact whether she is even still alive, but let's not forget the one who started it all. Aaeru, if you're still lurking out there and come across this post: thank you for everything.
  3. The OP says 2017-2018 so neither of those are old enough. This query only has 31 results and might have it: https://vndb.org/v?q=&ch=&f=032gru74_0bZW280Rq&s=22w
  4. Thank you for the samples, they validate the decoding is successful. Yes, this format has separate alpha channel. Please find analysis report and sample code here: https://www.mediafire.com/?4sjk7crcsbaklc8
  5. Thank you for the additional information and sample. Does this look correct for an extraction of your sample image? If it is correct, please provide a few more samples, preferably of different dimensions, for validation.
  6. What does the distortion look like? A picture is worth at least 1k words.
  7. Line spacing maybe hardcoded in .exe , need to analyse it to find where to edit.
  8. Try it? If it is a simple concatenation you may be able to cut the XP3 archive off the end separately.
  9. Post hexdump first 40 bytes, that can show what the actual format is. Example of valid XP3: 00000000: 58 50 33 0D-0A 20 0A 1A-8B 67 01 17-00 00 00 00 00000010: 00 00 00 01-00 00 00 80-00 00 00 00-00 00 00 00 00000020: 0C A4 6A 4D-00 00 00 00
  10. In general the AI/ML systems require a lot of processing power, and cannot easily parameterised -- do you want to keep honourifics or transform them, set the gender of names, change definitions of words, etc. It requires whole new model retrained every time. The advantage is it is simple to implement and not dependent on language, only need set of matching phrases to train on and enough processing power - implementer do not even need to know either language! Output is based on training data so it can be very close. But it is not easy to modify the model after training to suit specific application. Hence entire specialised models needed e.g. DeepL, Google (general text) Sugoi (JP VNTL only), etc. Also the "hallucination" phenomenon can cause outputs look very correct when incorrect in absence of training data. Unfortunately syntax-parsing MT has dropped in popularity due to AI hype, although it is very easy to modify and parameterise to adapt to any application. However it requires one know both languages in order to implement and adjust the parsing/transformation rules, but once set up right, so it can give highly accurate 1:1 correspondence translation at high speed with very low processing power. In addition, when the algorithm fails to parse or find appropriate rule to apply, the output will become wrong or left untranslated in a very obvious way.
  11. You may try to ask, on https://www.watzatsong.com/ ,although they are focused on English, someone may know.
  12. By the contents of your post, you do... But ATLAS is a very old technology, one of the first automatic translation software. Its output is not competitive with anything recent, especially AI-powered solutions (although the latter are capable of generating very good-looking English, they are also prone to "hallucinate" and create output that is far from the meaning of the Japanese input).
  13. You are correct! That is the reason why it is in our list. In order to arouse some more possible interest, here are translations of the intro movie from the original site (https://palette.clearrave.co.jp/product/hareten/image/story/hareten_story.swf https://www.mediafire.com/?6dulr0jiuvf3wyr (EN-UK) https://www.mediafire.com/?3crzw3ycg943mo7 (EN-US) Flyable Heart does seem quite popular, and this is why we also want to improve the translation. However, it is rather long, and although we have been going through again and fixing many lines, it is far from complete. Hare Tokidoki is actually even longer than Flyable Heart - the latter is ~2.3MB of (Japanese) text, and former is closer to 5.3MB, so it is nearly twice as long. In contrast, Nanatsuiro Drops is 1.1MB, and Kimi no Nagori only 985KB.
  14. Post hexdump of first 20-30 bytes, maybe can identify it.
  15. We are not asking for opinions about translation. There has been more than sufficient feedback on that. We are only assessing the interest to determine priorities. Grudges and accusations are not needed either. One of the reason we are planning V2 release is to improve the translation accuracy. We do not need any other assistance. Generally, there would be no need to respond beyond that? Please do not turn this into a debate. After all, we cannot please everyone but the silent majority is valuable.
  16. In the distant past, we have released some translations under our FlyableTrans brand, and although the reception was very mixed, they filled a need. In the intervening years, we made several more attempts, but were lost for priorities. Now we are choosing to take some more democratic feedback to guide our direction. The choices are explained as follows: 1. Flyable Heart V2: Fix to improve the translation accuracy and improve stability. This is a relatively LONG script so it will take relatively more time. 2. Kimi no Nagori wa Shizuka ni Yurete V2: Fix to improve the translation accuracy and improve stability. It is mostly complete. 3. Nanatsuiro Drops: This will be a first complete translation release. 4,5. Hare Tokidoki Otenkiame: Those who know the history of this site may notice the significance of this VN. The trial version is split into two parts. The full version is self-explanatory. There is no guarantee of anything, this is just a way for you to contribute to our decisionmaking process.
  17. It doesn't really matter, if anyone else want to do it they are welcome to. 初恋 started translating almost 6 years ago, then stalled.
  18. We have accumulated several VNs in varying states of progress: リトルウィッチ パルフェ 初恋 時計仕掛けのレイライン Magical Battle Arena Reply here if you are interested. No long-term commitment or anything else required, you can work from anywhere. We just want you can put some lines in when you have time so they can be finished eventually.
  19. Legal or not you can bet that it has been done before more than once.
  20. Do what you want, no one forces you to translate or not, you can't satisfy everyone so just be happy with what you want to do and enjoy fact that there will be those satisfied of your work. "Don't take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering." I don't think there is more needs to be said about this, although if you keep going to make this topic more popular and increase forums' traffic that is fine too...
