  1. I pretty much just look at the screenshots which is most often a sure way to tell if I'd enjoy it (staying away from bad art style, awfully dark stories and most nukige). I also look out for group sex tags to make sure there isn't more than 1.0 on that, though having any at all is already a big turn off for me. Same thing about NTR (reverse is fine). Don't mind some rape, though it's usually hidden as spoilers anyway.

Unfortunately, that really, really wasn't the case with the Da Capo series which has a good art style yet it's 90% cliche and is really long nonetheless (Innocent Finale is a bit of an exception, but I didn't like that either because of the main cast).

  2. Just play nukige VNs, they're mainly focussed on fan-service, so you'd be seeing a lot of H.

almost all nukige is morally questionable to various degrees, so I can understand staying away from it even if you're looking for H-scenes.

  3. I doubt that, as auto mode is pretty slow nobady would then need more time then suggested.

Some VNs have pretty fast auto-modes by default and you won't be able to keep up without paying attention. Also, count in the time you spend taking pauses and breaks.

  4. That is not the same and you know that. Ending is important part of every story, H on the other hand is just fan service for perverts.

And yes, I would say that company does force authors to add H a lot of times otherwise they wouldn't be so forced at the story so many times.

And no If you remove H it doesn't affect the rest of the story the only thing its affect is satisfaction of people against H and dissatisfaction of perverts who want H.

I would appreciate it if you stopped throwing that insult around already. I can't be the only one who reads his H-scenes with both hands above the table.

Don't you think the authors knew what they were signing up for from the beginning? There are companies that focus on releasing all-ages titles, and they still chose to bear with an eroge developer.

  5. This post contains spoilers so if you haven't read the VN, I'd strongly recommend not to read this.

    You sure? Last chance...

So I was replaying G-Senjou some weeks ago and something came to mind after thinking about it: after Kyousuke is released from prison and Haru approaches him with ther daughter, Kyousuke's inner monologue says something about hearing her daughter's name however, if I recall correctly, her name was never mentioned.

So my doubt is: do they mention the name and I just happened to miss it or they never said it?

If it was the latter, what do you think her name is?

The folks over at VNDB say that she has the same name as the protagonist's dead sister, Kiyomi.

Considering that the Japanese names usually hold a meaning, I would expect the final lines in the game to hint at it.

  6. It's a bit late, considering the tremendous growth speed of this thread, but

Why is it that groups that leave a partial patch translating parts of some routes are totally ok but people who leave H-scenes out aren't? I mean, think of it- H scenes are generally just a small part of those VNs (since I'm yet to see a group translate a nukige and leave H scenes out. Unless you're like moenovel, but I'm not going into that now). That means the group successfully delivered you over 90% of the visual novel. Yet you still can't be satisfyed at all? Hell, with that much made, the probability of someone picking up what that group already did and adding the H scenes back raises a lot.

as someone who's learning Japanese and planning to read everything they ever wanted, I'd pick an uncut partial over a better game's full patch with cut H any day of the week.

  7. It only counts if they are already in a relationship. If the protagonist already has a girlfriend but then is seduced it's NTR, if there's someone who loves him but they're not on a relationship, it's not.

And yet everyone says ef - a fairy tale of the two has reverse NTR, mixing up the term with simple jealousy (pretty high amounts of it though).

  8. Hoshizora no Memoria H-scenes... that art style really sucks for H-scenes IMO. Also I really wish they'd done something about the hospital one where the main girl really looks just too pale and it is the only H for that heroine.

Canvas 2 H-scenes are wasted by third-rate voice acting. Nice art though.

Grisaia no Kajitsu's Yumiko H-scenes - what's up with those muscles? She looks like a man with female genitalia.

Most of Da Capo and Da Capo 2 H-scenes seem out of place since they happen in the middle of the main plot with the heroine either too sickly (and you know beforehand that doing it will make things worse because supernatural crap) or secretive or amnesiac or done on impulse and whatnot.

Air H-scenes... what the hell was that!?

  9. VNs are surprisingly easy to marathon. I can't do that with anime for example. So if you have enough free time and motivation it can go pretty fast.

Also the time indicators on vndb are a bit large. The 50+ hours no-gameplay VNs are usually more 35-50 hours-ish.

I dunno, Rewrite took me 60-70 hours and Muv-Luv + Muv-Luv Alternative combined about 80-90. Some medium-length (10-30) VNs took me 40-50 hours, but I wouldn't really call myself a slow reader.

Well, it's all the better if you spend more time enjoying a good game, isn't it?

It all depends if the vn is captivating or not really. Don't force yourself to read something you're not enjoying.

  10. 食事にする、お風呂にする、それとも...わーたーし?

"The food, bath, or me" one always got me. I mean, it's not that common, but damn is it good when properly executed.

Gets me every time. Though when dragging out the "me", they usually say あーたーし (instead of わ).

  11. It would be nice to have H-scenes in movies like Titanic or even Lord of the Rings (with that elf girl) - but then they could never be as successful as they are, since you couldn't show them on TV or in normal cinemas. That's why when movies and TV series (including anime) have porn, you can't expect anything else. Visual novels and possibly erotic books are the only things that can afford to combine porn and other things.

I honestly think that H-scenes contribute to the story as they let you see *that* side of the characters. Lack of them, on the other hand, lets you keep a more innocent image. It's all about the execution and subjective perception.
