  1. One of my worst experiences would be with an R18+ otome game called "Toiro Komachi ~Kurenai ni Somaru no Toki Made" (http://vndb.org/v3426). It's not like the worst game ever made, but it's one of the worst otome games I've ever played. It wasn't even "so bad, it's hilarious" or "so bad, it's good." It was just BAD. Extremely long common route and way-too-brief interactions with the love interest of your choice during the specific routes. It feels rushed, with a few unresolved plot points and characters changing tune at a moment's notice. Out of curiosity, I played an eroge which is currently the lowest rated VN on VNDb.org, called "Shiyouchuu ~W.C.~ (a.k.a. Water Closet: The Forbidden Chamber)" (http://vndb.org/v1484). Unlike the above game I mentioned, though, this one had its funny moments and wasn't long enough to really get sick of it. Strange interface, boring music, subpar voice acting, dodgy art, sporadic pacing and practically no story... In my opinion, "so bad, it's hilarious." It deals with scat fetishes, so if you're iffy with that stuff, I don't recommend checking it out. Other noteworthy bad experiences include: ~ Love & Order (the worst otome game I've ever played, period): http://vndb.org/v6267 ~ Yandere (in fairness, some parts were quite amusing but it's a bad game overall): http://vndb.org/v1303 ~ Maiden Rape Assault: Violent Semen Inferno (too bad its title, "violent semen inferno", is pretty much the only entertaining aspect): http://vndb.org/v1292
  2. Welcome, fellow newcomer! Hope we both enjoy our time here.
  3. http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?1C This website doesn't help with the actual learning process, but I think it's an invaluable resource for learners and the more experienced alike! It's very convenient too, since many types of English <-> Japanese dictionaries are in one place. The kanji directory is particularly useful. I truly think it's one of the best Japanese <-> English dictionaries on the web.
  4. Wow, thank you everyone, for the very warm welcomes! I feel so... welcome, hee hee. Yes, I definitely do! I guess it changes every now and then, but right now, they are: ~ Black Wolves Saga: Bloody Nightmare ~ Both Danganronpas (I prefer 2 a bit more) ~ Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors The last manga I read? I recently read the latest chapters of Shingeki no Kyojin and Naruto. I'm not really into the latter as much as I used to be (I was pretty much obsessed back in high school). As for anime, I don't really have a favourite genre. I'm pretty much open to watching anything, though I admit to having negative assumptions about ecchi and any harem anime. I'd love to be a part of this goal! I don't know how much I can help, but once I get started on my blog, I figure I'd at least provide links to this site and spread the word!
  5. I personally recommend: * Danganronpa: Fantastic game. One of my favourite visual novels of all time. * Corpse Party: It's an official translation, so no patch needed. If you don't mind horror and a bit of gore, it's quite enjoyable. Both of the above have a lot of interactive elements, so if you just prefer a more "pure reading" experience, they might not be for you.
  6. I pretty much agree with most of the suggestions here. Saya no Uta is a good choice story-wise, but be weary if you've a poor stomach for gore. Fate/stay night is fantastic, but very long so don't expect to slash through it. I liked Natsu no Ame. It's not in English, though, so if that's a problem, sorry for the poor suggestion. It might be boring if you don't really like slice-of-life.
  7. Hello to all! I go by Laramie Castiel on the Internet, but please feel free to call me LC or just Laramie. I don't have a lot to say except that just like everyone here, I'm a lover of visual novels, and would really love for it to become a bigger medium. Looking forward to talking to you all!
