Same as Tay am I am not rely big fun of H-Scenes with the exception that I don't mind them either. I am a big romance fan so I prefer romance based relationship rather than sex based relationship Hower in most ero-games H-scenes are usually main events of the characters' relationship so it would feel like I missed something if I don't read them. But you should know that I am a special case as my beliefs forbid sexual last so after years of training I menage to totally get rid of sexual desires, so when I reed H-Scenes I watch them from different perspectives than most people.

There is very little a VN can do that cannot be done in another video game genre - though most gamers would not even consider VNs to be games at all. However, if there is one advantage VNs have that no other medium currently existing has... it is the greater leeway some companies give to their writers (outside of moege and nukige) thus allowing them to create stories that would not be allowed in other mediums either because they don't have much mainstream appeal, are socially unacceptable on one level or another, or take on issues no one wants to admit exist.
It's precisely because the medium isn't taken seriously that it can get away with all of this, which is one of the ironic aspects of it. Akatsuki Works games, for instance, always have a philosophical theme that they frequently approach from a point of view that would be considered cynical or anti-social, and they do it in a way that would most likely never have been allowed in another medium. To be blunt, this is just my personal view of the value of VNs... most people probably wouldn't agree.
Understand, I mean that amongst the 'visual' mediums (anime, movies, tv shows, video games, manga) in Japan, VNs are the most likely to do something with a story that none of the others would even consider otherwise. Anime series like Fate/Zero would never have been allowed in such an unadulterated form if FSN and Tsukihime hadn't 'gone there' and proven there was a demand for such works even in the current age of moeblob and brainlessness.
PS: Japanese paper novels are my other passion, for similar reasons. Where Americans have stagnated, there are still some seriously good new insights there.
I wouldn't really say that VN's aren't taken seriously it is probably that VNs don't require as much money as anime and other mediums so writers have more freedom because thouse who sponsor VNs and/or manga writers don't risk as much money in investment as thouse who invest in anime. Also a Japanese media as a whole have more b*lls than western media. And as for "There is very little a VN can do that cannot be done in another video game" I disagree with this totally as none other games can give you such detail deep stories and freedom of choices as VNs.

I Notice that every Fantasy or/and medieval VN that I come across is an RPG style game with alot of gameplay so I was wondering if there is any medieval/Fantasy VN that doesn't have gameplay? (Not that I dislike VNs with gameplay or anything I was just wondering if this is really the case and if it is why?)

Well the thing about rewrite is that every route has something that isn't 100% explained so you can get it in more than one way. Thet is the part of why i like it so match.

if anyone can explain what are they actually thinking and how are they benefiting from the all-ages version, please tell me. I might be extremely stupid, blind or mentally disabled because I really don't understand it.
There are a few possibilities:
1: you can more freely promote your product if it is 12+ and something decent than 18+ with alot of sex scenes.
2: they might want to try to get more of younger people 14-18 yr into VNs.
3: they might want to try to get more Fameles to VNs as probably not many girls want to play something that could be called a porn.
4: maybe their goal is to get more people into VNs as people who don't watch hentai would play 18+ VN's because they would assume that it is same as hentai (90% porn 10% story). I myself made the same mistake and didn't want to play 18+ VNs before I accidentally played one without knowing that it has an H-scenes.
I am not saying that I agree with them but you asked for explanation so I give you a few examples of wath they might be thinking.
I also agree that bast option would be to just add skip H-Scenes option in many but they might not be able to because of some technical problems.

How could I forget to mention Rewrite! I nearly stopped playing in disgust once I realized the entire visual novel was based on a false premise (man-made global warming is threatening to destroy the world).
A pity, because rewrite's common route was pretty good.
Not really if you played Terra route then you should know
that it doesn't have anything to do with global warming but with people not having "happy memories"

I love anime and VNs are most similar to anime + in VNs you don't have to worry about bad endings and protagonist not ending up with the girl you want him to end up (Alot of great anime were ruined for me because of thouse two thing). Also VNs usually have longer stories than anime and I love long stories because you can batter get into the story and you can also get to know characters batter in longer stories.
As for non VN games thouse days I only play the ones that have choices that determinate outcome of the game like mass effect, dragon age and jade empire.

Yea, ive watched Mirai Nikki, it was good. Who was Nekoko, was it that "bipolar" girl the one who sees faries? Id say for me she would be the third best choice in the game

No, it works fine after reinstalling, the size is 8GB and this mistake "and" isn't there any more (true my save still works fine even true it is sad that it won't work after patching, but I guess this is not a big deal since this little mistake is fixed so I guess that patch is now inserted correctly). Thanks.

Well, in your case its obvious that it didn't — our version has this particular error fixed, should be "There's the underwear girl, Kanako,\nwho is with me now." if patch is installed.
Did you actually run bat file?
Yea but I just notice the explanation in the first post about windows 7 thing. I tried editing apply_diffs.bat and it did become bigger but save was still there and when starting the game it crashes after 5-10 min. So I am reinstalling it now.
PS: I edited my post saying that it is my mistake and that I didn't enter patch correctly but you were faster to replay.

Sup man. Haha i remember when i decided to watch Dance in the Vampire Bund. I thought it was gonna be some childish vampire thingy with some ok moments, comedy and what not. I very much enjoyed the anime at the end though, really surprised me. Unfortunately i haven't watch Code Geass yet =/ this is one of those animes i've been postponing for others lol shame. 11 eyes i hated that one D: felt they could of done more, and that ending too, the hell. Oda Nobuna needs a second season for sure. Accel World for me, was somewhat painful to watch towards the end, i was just watching it so i could finish it. Love Kokoro Connect. As for the Zero no Tsukaima series, only watched the first 3, the newest one, i watched the first episode and decided to drop, thought it was gonna be the same thing as the rest and said meh w.e.
For me as a favorite anime, out of all the ones ive watched, has to be Elfenlied. I love other animes a lot but for some reason this one has a special place lol. Followed by Saint Seiya, since i remember that one from my childhood.
I played Yume Miru Kusuri, but ima reinstall again cause i only finished 2 routes, started the third and uninstalled, dont remember why. Usually when i play a VN i only play certain routes lol. Like in Katawa Shoujo i only played the blind girl and deaf girl, didn't care for the rest lol.

True it is not one of my favorites a also loved Elfen Lied, and if it is your #1 favorite anime than you definitely mast watched Mirai Nikki if you didn't already, they are very similar. And as for Yume Miru Kusuri wath routes have you played, if by any chance you didn't play Nekoko route you definitely should, it is my favorite route from the 3

A Daiteikoku translation project that was dropped by TLwiki on March 11, 2012 was picked up by new translator M0nt1sdead as of July 8, 2013, he is now recruiting more translators (already recruited editors and QA's) and he is going to continue where last translators left off (35%). My idea how could it be done best would be that VN would be sequel to anime like after everything is done Keima hang out with girls that he "captured" and then he himself start having feelings for them all while he still is capturing other escape souls with Elsie and Haqua who would ofcorse be two of possible routes. And capturing other escape souls would be like mini-stories.
