  1. 1) Yui- She's probably one of my favorite tsundere's not because of the tsun side but the dere side and the transition between the two. So god damn cute.

    2) Yami- She's cute and badass, do I need to say more?

    3) Momo- I wasn't really a fan of her in the original series but she takes the spotlight in Darkness and she takes it pretty damn well. She's also like the queen of the doujinshi.

    100% this

    same order and same description I would have put

    although I would have added for Yui that I love her long hair (hehe sorry for having long hair and bangs fetish)

  2. it's impossible to perfectly recreate a visual novel without going into its archive files. i'm not sure what you mean about 'intricate gameplay', but recreating a VN still requires a hacker in order to get the sprites and backgrounds inside. Needing a hacker defeats the purpose of recoding the entire VN, so why not just hack it again so you could inject the modified files back into the engine?

    The only way you could decently remake the VN without getting into its archives is by recording the gameplay as a video then rearranging the clips into an 'interactive video sequence' so the user can click and do all kinds of stuff. But you see, that's pretty dumb since you would end up with something like a 50-hour block of video clips, stitched together by code and forced to be interactive. You might end up with a 20TB installer for your rip off VN, and no one would definitely be willing to download and install that.

    Edit: if what you meant by 'intricate gameplay' is the RPG/card game/action/battle-like game aspects, I'm quite sure that you can't do that with just ren'py.

  3. videos like, "Top 10 Romance Visual Novels of the Year" or "Upcoming Horror Visual Novels for 2015" or "Visual Novels Translated in 2014" might be nice

    then give them names like, FuwaCharts, FuwaTracker, FuwaReviews, FuwaLolis, Fuwatever

    We can (if a translator is found) translate  PVs and Openings of incoming releases.

    this is a really great idea as well, although some companies are strict about sharing their games' content, so they block uploads of their openings/endings on YouTube. As for PVs, I think it's safe to translate and reupload them.

    I was thinking that we could have translations for the openings and endings (and even typeset texts), then add pretty karaoke lyrics for YouTube upload. Then if someone picks up that VN for a TL project, they would be able to use those translated videos for their projects so they wouldn't need to look for extra people.

    it might also be nice to see some fan made videos like AMVs, but for Visual Novels. Although that might be a bit hard since one needs the extracted game images to make something decent out of it.

  4. Personally I'd suggest using Unity3d if you're planning to release it on multiple platforms. Unity supports iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry 10, Windows, Mac, Linux, PS3, Xbox, Wii, and even web browsers. Just a little tweak on controls and screen resolution then your VN could be ported to another platform right away. Because if you're planning to make a custom engine for each platform, that would be a huge hassle for the programmer. It's a lot easier to make one engine for one app, then let that app export your game onto different platforms.

    Ren'Py natively supports Windows, Mac, and Linux, though. If you're fine with those three platforms, it would be so much easier for everyone in your team to just use Ren'Py for everything.

    I may be interested but like it was mentioned more info is needed. Rough character designs and a short summary would be the minimum I'd say.

    And this is what I'm talking about as well. No one would be interested without a little bit of art. And the character design says a lot about the characters and what their personalities would be like. Personally I might just go ahead and make you a custom VN engine with Unity within a week if I fall in love with the story's heroines or if the characters are 200% moeblobs. But without some art to please the eyes and some unique backstory to make one feel excited for the release, it's gonna be hard for you guys to find some motivated people to join.

    Also, question: will the VN be in japanese or english?

    And another question: I don't get what you mean by the position "animator". You mean, animating character sprites frame by frame like anime? Or the simple up, down, left, right motion? Because if it is the latter, I'm pretty sure that the programmer should be in charge of those animations.

  5. If you want people to be interested with joining the team, you should post something that is actually interesting. Show a progress report of some sort. Post teaser screenshots, CG, or character sprites. Write a short summary or synopsis of what the VN is gonna be like. Make a description for each character that will be involved in the story. And the most important thing of all, specify what genre your VN is gonna be. People tend to have preferences over VN genres, so most people wouldn't join a random project if they have no idea whether they will like the project's outcome or not. It might also be nice to post what your goals are, and what platform(s) you're aiming a release for.

    Also, question: are you gonna use a custom built VN engine? or will you be using renpy or some other VN engine?

  6. You haven't tried using Locale Emulator? Well you should.

    Basically it's something you install once, and that's pretty much it. You don't need to mess around with settings or whatever, you just right click the executable of the VN, then Locale Emulator would add an option to run it as Jap Locale. I can't guarantee that it works 100% for all VNs, but it's a pretty neat alternative if you really don't want to just change your system locale to japanese (because after all, that's still the easiest and safest way to do it).

  7. BEWBS!! PRETTY CG!! PRETTY HEROINES!! ANIMAL EARS!! BEWBS!! ELVES!!! BEWBS!!!!!

    HAHA hi there, image editor here if you need one. I can also edit videos, if there are any jap text to typeset on the opening or ending. PM if you need work samples. :3

    Also if you have ALL the text files for translating, I can probably do the linecount for you. (note: *probably*)

  8. Hi everyone! JeMhUnTeR here.

    I'd like to ask anyone with translation experience to come help us translate images and video typeset texts. Some phrases have been translated already, but there still are some UI texts that need translating and checking. If you can help translate or check phrases, please pm me so I could give you a link to the image spreadsheet.

    Currently, 125 of 265 image texts have already been translated. That leaves around a hundred left, since a lot of texts are just repeated. Without translated texts, progress on the image editing part is stalled.

  9. Thanks Steve. I'll make you a flash sig if you want :D And I'll make sure to avoid unnecessary animations, and I'll help hunt down people who use sounds and epileptic animations for their signatures.

    I'm assuming there are fields on the admin CP for the tag replacement title and match, right? And you could set regex statements using {1} and access them on the replacement html using $1, right?

    Perhaps you could add a new media tag replacement with the replacement title:

    media={2},{3}

    and the html:

    <embed width="$2" height="$3" src="$1.swf" play="true" loop="true" quality="best" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" pluginspace="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" />

    It might also be good to add an if statement such that the height gets capped to 150 if it's too big.

    Not sure though, since I don't really know how forum boards work.

    PS. I think (or I hope) people wouldn't abuse the use of flash for signatures. Flash signatures were allowed since long ago and it hasn't really been an issue. Anyway, I'm fine with how you did it. Good job. Thanks again. :3

  10. hmm so you made it a GIF animation?
    personally I think it's not worth going for a GIF animation just for the name fading since your signature image gets limited to 256 colors. I'm not really a pro either, but here are some tips:

    - NEVER re-size character sprites out of their original aspect ratio. On your signature, it looks like you scaled Kirino's sprite vertically, so it doesn't look too good.
    - always make the edges blend with the page background, so you either add shadows and/or borders.
    - if you want to include more parts of the sprite but only a small part fits in the canvas, either you scale down the entire sprite or rotate it a bit.
    - make the colors and fonts consistent with the sprites.

    Personally I think it's not nice seeing Kirino on a dark background. But in the end, it's really just up to you whether you think it looks good or not. Here are some sigs I've made (not all of them were used):

    Right now I've been playing around with interactive flash signatures, but I can't really go anywhere since I can't resize the flash canvas with fuwanovel's bbcode.

    Now, if we could just have that peaceful vote on the name, all wars will end and we can stop the innocent from being killed.

    I'm from the Philippines and I can confirm how true this is

    (Yes let's just assume that I represent the entire Philippines regarding this matter)

  12. I'll vouch for JeMhUnTeR. He does incredibly high quality work. The only bad thing I have to say about him is that he makes lots of typos. You can't go wrong with him though.

    awww morisummer <3

    and no those typos were OakloreLogic's edits, not mine (because he didn't have access to the translation spreadsheet when he did them) XD

  13. woah woah woah first time seeing this VN

    IT'S A NEW PULLTOP VN WOOOOO

    SWIMSUIT OP WOOOOO

    Do you have any image/video editors yet? If not I'd like to apply as main graphics person. I'm currently part of Koiken Otome translation (image/video editor), Fureraba (image editor), and Witch's Garden translation (video editor/kfx subber).

    Here are some sample works.

    Here are some GIF shorts from Witch's Garden's OP that I made. I did the typesetting of romanized/english texts.

    You may watch the original opening theme from youtube so you could see which ones are the stuff I added.

    I also do signatures and stuff.

    Okay. I think that's it. Pardon for overusing GIF clips. I like GIF clips. and imoutos.

    I'll be re-sending these through email in a while, I just noticed the pdf thingo wahahahaha // runs

  14. Hello there! So I was trying to create a flash signature for myself, and so I uploaded a test. I set my signature to

    [media=800,150]https://www.dropbox.com/s/kuavoyzy9prj4vi/Signature%2001.swf[/media]
    but then the site didn't modify its size. I tried several other possible syntax but it was no hope. I can't change the size.

    what I've tried:

    [media="800,150"]<link>[/media]
    [media="800 150"]<link>[/media]
    [media="800x150"]<link>[/media]
    [media="800,150,0,0"]<link>[/media]
    [media="0,0,800,150"]<link>[/media]
    [media="800 150 0 0"]<link>[/media]
    [media=800x150]<link>[/media]
    [media=800,150]<link>[/media]
    [media=800,150,0,0]<link>[/media]
    [media=800]<link>[/media]
    [media]<link>[/media]
    [media=<link>]width=800 height=150[/media]
    [media] <link> 800,150[/media]
    [media]<link> 800 150[/media]
    [media]<link> 800x150[/media]

    I also messed around with the tag, but it was still no hope. Browsing around the internet for commonly used bbcode didn't help either.

    So now I'm stuck. Can anyone help me figure out how to make fuwanovel properly resize embedded flash applications? Or perhaps it's a site bug?

    edit: Update - adding units doesn't fix it. "800px,150px" "800px,150px,0px,0px"

    edit edit: if anyone who could access the site's Admin CP could help, it would be great. I'm suspecting that the site's settings for the media tag isn't set to accept parameters from the tag.

    I'm guessing that the replacement html wasn't set to modify the default object dimensions.

    there are no parameters in the <embed> tag that sets width and height. There's no <object> tag either that could contain dimension parameters.

    1RfjQYY.png

    edit edit edit: Help me fix this resizing issue, and I'll make you a free awesome flash signature. :D

  15. could you load the videos from the gallery?

    Something on your keyboard might also be broken (and it's doing some horrible skipping whenever the vid plays).

    Or. You're probably just skipping them all manually without you knowing it. Do you use the Skip feature a lot?

    And nope, after messing with all the game settings, I can still play videos (testing with OP video by starting a new game).

    Seriously though, you need to get that fixed before playing. The videos (especially the endings) are like my crying time whenever I finish a route. It adds up to the feels you get after playing a dramatic scene.

    Oh and also. Have you tried turning it off and on again? xD

  16. There are several possibilities as to why the videos won't play.

    1. You don't have the files or the files are corrupted. If you got your copy from fuwa, you should get a mov folder inside the files you downloaded. Check if they exist, and do a force recheck of the files with your torrent client. Make sure you check everything since some built-in codecs might have been corrupted.

    2. Your netbook can't play it. Go to the mov folder and try playing it with your movie player.

    3. The game can't access the files. Have you renamed anything in the folder?

    4. Your netbook hates you. Have you tried seducing it or slamming it into a table?

    Haha what exactly happens when it doesn't play, though? Does it just go black screen or does it display any errors?

    Also since you already have CCCP, does the subtitle get displayed over a black screen?
