Narcosis
http://store.steampowered.com/app/377860/It happened. After many years of constant struggle between western fans and japanese game industry, Cave finally opened up and decided to port their cult classic arcade games to PC. Degica is handling the localization and porting. As much as Mushihimesama is their first PC title, Degica already stated plans to bring more of the Cave games to the western players. Hold your fingers crossed and there's a huge chance we'll soon see such titles as Ketsui, Death Smiles, Espgaluda 2 or even Dodonpachi series! There's a launch discount currently available, with full game price of 14,99 euros and an additional Matsuri mode DLC (the so called Mushihimesama Black Label, which was an incredibly limited edition of the original PCB, boasting a completely redesigned game mode and additional content) for 3,74 euros. If you'll buy the game, you also get the beautiful game soundtrack by Manabu Namiki. One thing's for sure - my wallet will suffer greatly , since I want to support them as much as possible. KuroganeHomura
Yeah, it finally happened. Maybe if the games do well enough on Steam, we'll actually see Cave returning to producing something other than mobile games, too. For the time being, playing Mushihime on something other than a crappy PS2 emulator or MAME is pretty nice. Hope we'll see a port of SDOJ sooner or later. Edit: Incidentally, if anyone who's curious about shmups is reading this, the novice mode of Mushihime seems like a pretty good introduction to the genre. Novice original in particular should be pretty easy to 1cc with a bit of practice even if you haven't played any other shmups before. Granted, if you go from novice to normal, the difficulty jump is anything but gentle. Arrange might be nice, too, although the auto-bomb feature is a bit of a double-edged sword if you get too used to it. Still, if you watch a bit of the gameplay and think it's interesting, this game is probably for you. KuroganeHomura
Looks like Touhou except worse Touhou is clearly worse. But yeah, both are danmaku shooters. Touhou is based off of the various arcade shooters predating it. Touhou on easy mode (and normal in a few select games, mainly Imperishable Night and Perfect Cherry Blossom) is probably a bit easier to get into, but in terms of difficulty, they're not much different from Mushihime-sama's novice modes. Touhou games tend to be more lenient in terms of bombs and extra lives you get, but the lunatic modes are generally on par with Cave games, sans the TLB and perhaps some of the 2nd loops in some Cave games. So, what I'm saying is, give Cave and/or Touhou and/or danmaku games in general a shot. It's not like you have to start on the highest difficulty level or anything.
