  1. I didn't watch any gameplay videos for Bloodborne. Also didn't read anything about it. I didn't want to spoil it for me.

I won't actually drop DS2, I'll just put it on-hold for the time being. I also needed a short break from Souls.

I got The Last of Us for PS4 (digitally). Maybe I'll play this later today. :)

Only watched small stuff and read the pros/cons from some reviews and the framerate issues seem like a big deal (if it is like the Souls series) due to the need to fast reactions :(

I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out

  2. After getting Platinum for Demon's Souls I started Dark Souls 2. But I guess I'll ditch that as soon as my preordererd copy of Bloodborne arrives...  :kosame:

Haven't ordered Bloodborne due to the framerate issues that have been reported in the gameplay tests... will wait for that to be fixed.

Anyway, DS2 is still worth going for and clearing (alongside with it's DLC) ;)

  3. I couldn't even get myself to pick that up... personally i'm a NIS fanboy since Disgaea (the very first one) and around the time that Hyperdimension Neptunia came out I had just been burnt twice by some games that somewhat disappointed me (Cross Edge & Trinity Universe).

Please tell me the grind in the Neptunia Series isn't nearly as boring as it is on Trinity Universe (yes i've got a trauma with that one... painful painful platinum), is it?

Reason for the question is that when I noticed that both games were from Idea Factory and/or Compile Heart so... >_>

  4. So... there's supposedely a demo out (haven't checked it yet) and there's some game footage now...

Can only say i'm impressed with summons (spoiler below for those who want to see it):

Kotaku already has some stuff about how the demo plays...

  5. O_o. You already have all the good games ;D

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is also worth checking out. In Oreshika you have to manage a cursed clan, which members can only live for 2 years. You have to breed your clan members with various gods to get new characters and explore dungeons for a cure for the curse. I'm not really sure what to think of the game yet. It's fun to watch your family tree grow and see what kind of children will you get next. The combat and dungeon crawling is pretty good, but the game has some pacing issues. If you can't complete some story required dungeons in time you have to wait for an year for it show up again. And by that point your previous clan members are probably dead, so you better hope that your new members are as up to the challenge. Still it's not bad game, so might be worth trying.

That's what saddens me regarding the current Vita game list. Expected more "good" titles out there :( (this last gen has been so cruel on JRPG and such).

Regarding the Atelier games, i've been playing those on PS3 thro time.

Oreshika sounds interesting from what you describe. Gotta look into that thanks (and store images look good) :)

P.S: finally got the last trophy on Demon Gaze... deciding on what to start playing next (pending towards Tales of Xillia on PS3 now)

  6. Oh man, Vita recommendations. Vita is my favorite platform after PC, mostly because of all the glorious JRPGs and alike. So yeah, I'll gladly recommend stuff.

We all here love VNs, so I must mention Danganronpa and Virtue's Last Reward. They are solid VNs with light gameplay elemements.

I don't know if it's counts as VN, but Corpse Party games are something I'm really fond of. I don't normally like horror games, but I enjoyed Corpse Party a lot. It's a horror adventure game with interesting story, really intimidating atmosphere and lots of gore. It's anime gore, but it's still pretty rough. I remember not being able to sleep properly for one night and it was also first time when I almost threw up because of a video game. They were originally released on psp, so it's not really a vita game, but if you happen to like horror you should give it a try.

    Okay proper games then, :D

Ys: Memories of Celceta is a really solid, party based and really fast paced action RPG. Just turn the volume up, difficulty to hard and dive in boots of Adol Christin & co for a awesome adventure full of epic boss battles and awesome music.

Muramasa: Rebirth and Dragon's Crown are both solid 2D action games from Vanillaware. They not only play well, but they are also absolutely gorgeous.

And no list is perfect without Persona 4 Golden. Though you should probably play Persona 3 Portable first, because it's kind of difficult to go back to P3P after being spoiled by P4G improvements. These 2 games are in my opinion the best JRPGs on vita. Prepare yourself for long ride though, first play through will clock around 70 hrs, but I assure it's worth the time. The games are combinations of VN-esque story segments, dating sim/ time management segments where you improve yourself and your bonds with your friends(Date hot girls) and pretty hard core dungeon crawling. Bonus points for fast paced and thrilling combat system, where you get extra turns for exploiting enemy weaknesses.

There's a few, but If you tell me what kinds of games you like, I can give more specific recommendations. So if anyone has any questions about vita games, I'm here to spread the vita love.

Thanks for the feedback, i'm more of a JRPG/Strategy game player...

Regarding Dragon Crown, i've already got it on plus for PS instead of vita so I doubt i'll be getting that one.

My vita experience is still relatively new (got it in September with God Eater 2 while I was in Japan) and i've been playing some of the "free" Plus games. Other than that so far i've been mainly playing hunting games (GE2 - need to clear story, Toukiden - need to farm last post-game trophies and Freedom Wars - got plat).

Besides the hunting games I also got P4G (right after the purchase of the console), Akiba's Trip, Demon Gaze Global Edition, Ys: Memories of Celceta (haven't started yet) and Deception IV: Blood Ties.

Kinda looked at Danganronpa series but haven't fully understood it's gameplay xD (didn't look much into it tbh). Also checked out Soul Sacrifice Delta (and considering the buy) but i'll have to finish up at least another of them hunting games first.

Regarding Hotline Miami and Terraria... they aren't much my type (even tho I've got Terraria on steam - prefered Starbound for some reason).

Thanks to the feedback i'm currently adding to my "to check" list:

    • Virtue's Last Reward
    • Tearaway
    • Muramasa: Rebirth
    • Corpse Party
    • Gravity Rush (for some reason I never really looked into it)

@Funyarinpa: XCOM is damn good indeed. I've gotta dive back into it with the expansions. I've always been a fan of XCOM games since the first one (screw Apocalypse tho) and dived right into the latest XCOM as soon as it was out. Totally worth it :)

Regarding Senran Kagura... what's the gameplay like? Fully VN or what (i remember seeing up Bon Apetit and music/rhythm threw me away)?

  7. Personally i'd recommend these companies (mainly focused on strategy games or RPG... well usually have a gameplay element):

    • Alicesoft: Daiakuji, Daibanchou/Big Bang Age, Daiteikoku (and a few others, even tho i'm not a fan of Rance series);
    • Eushully: most titles have good gameplay, i'd definitely recommend Ikusa Megami Zero (Battle Goddess Zero);

Without full translations available you also have SoftHouseChara games.

As LionovaA mentioned, Yumina's also a good investment :)

  8. edit: dont know excacty where its been, but in one of the two series its clear that skull king rescued them both

The recent movies introduce the Skull Knight and effectively show him rescuing them from the Eclipse (as well as engaging Zodd outside). In the original show he's nowhere to be found.

P.s: edited first post to give a more complete answer/explanation to my PoV

EDIT: Then again, the movies came out A LOT of years after the original anime and doesn't develop characters as well as the original (and if I recall correctly, the plan with the movies was to "properly" repeat the first arc and continue onward).

  9. As far as anime goes, the bittersweet award for me goes to Berserk (original anime, not the new movies). Personally I love Berserk but the way they finished up the show leaves so much without answer (and major characters missing). Whenever I recommend Berserk to someone I always warn them "beware the ending" >_>

  10. Interesting post and regarding something i've been experiencing over the last few years.

Everything was essencially the same but work overload was taking it's toll on me (wasn't effectively able to shut down and disconnect from work) and I find it interesting that you mentioned the relation between mind and body. I was mainly feeling without much hunger and would often end up feeling sick and for a long time I thought it could be due to previous abuses I had done (lots of alcohol and such).

I ended up going to have my stomach checked and everything was fine, he (the doctor) suggested that it could be stress related and I then decided to take a leave without pay at work.

Truth is, that after that I've been feeling much better and ever since I realized it was my stress and work related issues that was making me feel "bad" I did everything on my reach to disconnect from work.

Even if everything is "fine" or "the usual" in your life, it doesn't mean you're not having anxiety attacks (so to speak) and/or stress related issues. It's NOT easy for one to realize the stress you're feeling mainly when it starts building up slowly.

    Edit:

I see what you did there :P

    as you read Fate/tay Night.

  11. Well, I can think of a situation where you might really not need it anymore, but I really hope for the sake of taco's lady friend(s) that that isn't the case. :makina:

There's always times where it may be required... "headache", "that time of the month", etc etc etc
