Whilst knowing the people can make it a comfortable place, I also find it highly interesting to get to know new people.
For instance, there's these three 'new' members who have no avatar -- yet I know them all as distinct entities. Unthinkable!
There's a number of new people flowing in at all times (and of old people disappearing), and it is fun to see how some of them stay for good.
Edit: I mean, I've been here about as long as you. A lot of people have come and gone, but that's just natural. The community changes with time. But it's still there, though not as you remember it.

Hmm... Perhaps it has lost in the chatter department. Members' Lounge and The Coliseum of Chatter do not have as much of the constant banter.
As for my purposes, Fuwa fits me just fine. There's still plenty of discussion on current titles.
