  1. I can't say that I do unfortunately.  Personally I didn't rate Canvas 2 that high for the most part, and only thoroughly enjoyed two routes out of them all (Tomoko and Sumire).  I would have to agree that as a teacher character, Hiroki is pretty good (that is, if you are saying he was a good teacher character).  If anything, it might make me want to play through Amairo Islenauts again (I bought a copy about a month after it was released!~).

Well, no, what I was saying was NOT necessarily that situation, IE: Not it being a male teacher or Canvas 2, but, for instance, Monster girls and Some Monster Girl Visual Novel, etc.  just a specific theme that makes you think of a VN you liked and makes you want to replay it.

And lucky, Im interested in Amairo Islenauts, but I gotta level up my Japanese before that one, since I don't think it's translated :P

  2. So, for anyone who read the series, Onihime VS, do you know any other anime like that, particularly the part with the bully, Shouko, bullying him but liking him.  For anyone who hasn't read it but is reading this, you know that this is far past tsundere, this doesn't fall under the demense of tsundere, this is not a tsundere character.   In other words, Im not asking for something with a Tsundere character, but a legitimate bully, however, only female bullies, Im not cool with girls getting bullied, sorry if it's sexist, but thats the way I am.

And, for a little discussion tidbit, I feel they really should have, at some point, let it slip to Shouko that the reason the demons were going to eat his heart was started because Setsuna was going to kill himself, I think it could have been an awesome character building arc for Shouko, and could have been really awesome, I mean, it could even have been a game changer for her when she found out that it was, in at least good part, due to her bullying.  What do you guys think?

  3. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of any VN's with monster girls heroines, similar (only slightly) to Kamidori Alchemy Meister, its only slightly since out of the main heroines, the closest thing to a monster girl they had

    was the Elf girl

I would prefer them to be legit monster girls like some of the side routes on Kamidori, however, Im not looking for anything that is just straight H-game (IE: Monmosu Quest)

Sorry if this is a bit to narrow of a topic (or if I've asked before) but any help would be appreciated,

Or also, VN's with game elements that may contain a monster capturing system, similar to (if you consider them VN's, I've heard it various ways from various places)  the Rune Factory series and the Agarest War series.

  4. Sorry I haven't been around in a while, we recently lost internet at our place for a while, and I just started college, so for which few of you may remember me, sorry I haven't been around, and I promise I haven't given up on our beautiful novels, and I will be back.

  5. Having only quickly perused this thread to try and save myself from spoilers, does anyone know, is Men at Work 2 a direct continuation of Men at work 1, or is it for all intents and purposes a standalone, playable without playing 1 first?

  6. So, I was watching an anime, and it gave me an idea of something to look for in a VN, anyone know any VN's with heroine(s) who are sickly/hospital-ridden/bed-ridden/etc.? I don't mean the super sad, depressing kind like that one where 'even her doctor could no longer bear to see her like this, so he...' I would prefer it to have a possible happy/ish ending.

She doesn't need to be in the hospital/bed ALL the time, as long as it is a recurring thing, not just a 'we hear about it once, and it never shows up again' thing, although I would prefer if maybe a large part of at least one part of her story was spent in this setting.

Genre/Theme/Setting are all negotiable, sans Yaoi/Yuri/things of a less discusable nature.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

  7. Just in relation to that spoiler, I don't remember it like that, barring

    Rin

, but i am willing to accept I might not be remembering right.

    I guess Shizune is

reverse forced and honestly in that scene I was mostly disturbed by the sweater I was wearing

Well keeping in mind that not all forced is purely physical as in

Hanako's route, the first sex scene felt like she had been manipulated (albeit by her own self) into thinking that she HAD to have sex with Hisao, or else he would leave her, just like everyone else, even though she wasn't at the point where she wanted too. Although, that may just be me, although, Hisao definitely felt that way too

    :P

And as for your response to Shizune, that made me laugh so, so hard :D And considering that

that Rin's and Hanako's routes were my favorite, I guess my memory was a little biased towards that point of view, since the ones I liked the most were, imo, that way.

I am very sorry that I seemed to have turned this into a Katawa Shoujo spoiler thread :S I will do my best to cut back on it.

  8. So, Im looking for anime and manga [(anime preferred, but manga is ok)even VNs, but I would never mention those here since this is the Anime/Manga forum *wink wink*)] about a normal guy who somehow winds up in a monster school/city/world/*insert any setting here, really* similar to Rosario + Vampire, for those who have seen it. Note: When I say monster setting, I don't mean that he sees that our world actually has monsters or whatnot in it, I mean he legitimately goes to a place where there are either no other humans, or few other humans. The protagonist would preferably not be some super 'perfect at almost anything except he is a little pervy or something' types, more like a normal dude. The ideal series would have a romance of some type in it between the protag and somebody. In some situations, situations similar to Shuffle can be accepted (where the monsters are basically completely integrated into Human society) but while acceptable, this would be the least preferred avenue.

With the basic premise accepted (Monster setting of some sort) any setting, theme, or genre is acceptable, with exception to full Yaoi or Yuri(partial of either is acceptable :P Soft obviously, given next preference), and preferably not full hentai(although if I need to sacrifice this to fill this need, it will be gone).

I understand the request might seem rigid and solid, and I apologize for this, but hopefully this will give a decent idea of the type of thing I'm looking for, and maybe narrow down the ideas. Hopefully I dont destroy any possibility immediately :P

Thanks for reading this, and thanks for spending any time thinking about it.

  9. I actually started playing VNs for the story, and I felt a bit surprised when I saw my first H scene..

For me, the H scenes confirms whether you are on a certain character's route, or leading to her bad end..

For example, a romantic H scene means that you have certainly entered a 'good end' route, while some sort of rape or forced H scene can mean you are leading to a bad end..

This is true for G Senjou no Maou

Also, I consider most H scenes as rewards for the effort of trying to finish a character route..

    Have you played Katawa Shoujo?

****Spoiler Below is about Katawa Shoujo, do not view spoiler if you do not want parts of Katawa Shoujo to be spoiled for you.*****

I would say probably half of your first sex scenes, at least, were bent towards forced/rape (albeit, not like, HARD or sadistic or anything, but they definitely had the 'this is not consensual, I do not want this to happen, please stop' feel to them)

Besides that though, Katawa Shoujo was, without doubt, my favorite VN out of the ones I have played so far, and I don't care how cliche people may think I be for thinking this, and I understand who made it, but, to me, the story for almost every route is just so extremely touching that I at least teared up at one or more parts per route, I really loved it, alot.

  10. Although I would never touch a VN like that, I appreciate and fully support Mangagamer in this, as it shows that they are showing little bias in type of VN or content, as they ARE people who would love this, so they are at least gathering info for the entirety of the non-Japanese proficient community, instead of just the ones into a few specific subsets of VNs that conforms with various social norms and etc's.

  11. Muv Luv? (Still Haven't finished DL'ing it) Though I Know it has no gameplay.

If you want gameplay then go Kamidori or Duel Savior.

Though The setting of this 2 gameplay games is different from what you want.

Yea, I tried downloading Duel Savior a long while back, but nothing I did would make it run, japanese locale, fonts, compatability modes, nothing.

  12. So, I played Daibanchou a while back, and enjoyed it pretty well, so I was wondering if anyone knew something similar, minus one part of it, which, for those who may talk to me the few times that I show my hermit face will probably already know what I want to lose. Maybe if it was something similar to Daibanchou, but not so rape-y? It's so hard to sit through those scenes, like, thinking to myself "NOoooo, I could have saved her, *sniff sniff*"

Edit: Oh, by similar, I mean kind of like, the setting? You know, the world is our world, but because of XX event, its totally different or whatnot. But romance-y also

  13. Kamidori Alchemy Meister- A very time consuming good hell of a game. Why time consuming? Gameplay, Lvl'ing your characters while going through the chapters of the game via locations.

Requires lot of spamming time to max out your units. (It's too time consuming. After going through the 3 main routes,(Which took about, 15-24 hours each) I just copied a Full save to view the other CG's)

Wait...wait....wait wait wait....were there more, unlockable routes than just the main 3 girls??!?!? SERIOUSLY?!? Dangit.....I may have to go back to that now :S lol

  14. I'm exactly the same way. My VN play log says I replay one every 5.15 games.

Me, too. That's probably why I end up replaying Katawa Shoujo and a few others (including G-Senjou, for sure. Great OST) so often.

Hmm...you guys seem to have the replay down to almost a necessary play function :P I've been in a little bit of a VN rut, maybe I should try replaying Katawa Shoujo :P

No, but really though, Im playing Galaxy Angel right now (from Fuwanovel) so far it seems pretty good, and I am enjoying it pretty well.

  15. So I'm curious: what kept pushing you through? Why keep going along the route, even though it was hard? I don't remember why I kept at it, and it seems like your original point (that the Rin experience was unique and rewarding) is something that comes AFTER the trial. Can you remember what kept you playing when you were in-the-moment?

Yeah, the 'unique and rewarding' part definitely came after finishing it, but for me, I think it was probably similar to the same reason I liked it that I kept going, because it was hard, and I thought 'Oh, you're not going to beat me, Katawa Shoujo, I make Keima look like a nervous little school girl, dangit!' lol, I just got really competitive with it, and felt like I HAD to beat it, since it was so much tougher than anything I had experienced yet (VN route-wise)

  16. Wow, Steve, that post definitely gets a +, I do believe you hit the proverbial nail on its metaphorical head. I couldn't really think about it, but after reading what you wrote, I think you're exactly right, that scene, even if I don't watch it, feels like "That's it". Man, lots of good thought material in there too. Thanks for the help everyone.
