The twist in Yuka's route got me. Hits close to home because I actually once went out with a girl who tried to use a wristband for that purpose. It said "Never give up hope.".....

You weren't lying about these routes being pretty heavy.

Just read like for like five more minutes and after hearing her past was like "Oh....".

Oh wtf is the rest of her route? Wow I thought gal cleaning(a manga, if you can even call it that) was showing enough of "that" and it somehow is in this story.

Oh.....I was not ready for that last route. I haven't teared up in a long time. Didn't know this had an Utsuge route.....

You guys set me up. Since I said Eden* was too tragic for me you went and gave me an equally depressing story (I kidding btw)

Those two routes are most light-hearted, typical high-school romance stories. Remaining routes are much heavier. I think Yuka's was the best.

  3. Having played through Kaho's route on Crescendo. I have to say it holds up well for being 17 years old. I actually feel that the characters are more expressive than some modern VNs I have read and that really surprised me. And yes the music generally did do its job well in creating a certain mood for scenes.

And on that note, time to start Kyoko's route.

I managed to play it in fullscreen mode - my laptop has some additional keyboard shortcuts to enable scaling in fullscreen mode. I suppose most graphic drivers and monitors have such settings, so just try to mess with them after entering fullscreen with alt-enter shortcut.

You need to find setting for upscaling while keeping aspect ratio.

I played all old 640x480 VNs (like Yukizakura, Kazoku Keikaku, Heart de Roommate etc) that way.

I don't really fullscreen VNs too often(Haven't since August actually when I read Newton no Ringo), I wish I could adjust the window size to at least that of shuffle, but it's whatever.

Tried looking through the settings anyways and I can't seem to change it to anything bigger unless I change my monitor's base resolution. I sorta prefer the hd look it gives off when its in the small window though.

Crescendo is a bit unusual appearance-wise - it's NVL, features third-person narration, and character designs need some getting used too, but it's good. Also, in my experience, for some strange reasons, characters in-game looked to me better than on screenshots.

Yeah, I noticed the odd art but in spite of that it looked pretty decent. Only thing that bugs me is the window its in being VERY small.

I hate utsuge, but Clannad was something i loved. Well, i havent read the vn, but only watched the anime. It was really, really tragic but holy hell when that game ended. It was something else, even if it was a bit silly.

Don't read Eden if you can't handle utsuge. I think it was waaaaaaay worse than Clannad.

    For my suggestions:

    Symphonic rain:

    https://vndb.org/v38

    Dracu-riot:

    https://vndb.org/v8213

    SakuSaku

    https://vndb.org/v10304

    If my heart had wings:

    https://vndb.org/v9093

    Fureraba:

    https://vndb.org/v11856

I feel listing everything could take all day, so i'lll just stop with this small list

All of the above are already on my list sadly....that's why I'm having such a hard time currently finding something to read, but did get one that Shogun suggested(Crescendo).

Well you're not exactly wrong for thinking like that, because at the first glance t looks like any ordinary nukige synopsis. But Sanoba here is from Yuzusoft whose also behind both of Dracu Riot and Noble Works, so obviously they'll going to do their usual forte and just in case you want the answer here Sanoba is a charage with romance instead of nukige even with nukige-ish premise. Have fun with Sanoba if you want to try it later.

Wait, this a Yuzusoft game that actually got officially translated and released? Color me surpised. Never thought I'd see the day lol. But yeah it just sounds too nukige-ish for me, I prefer a little more subtleness in a story. Who knows, I may end up buying it out of boredom over the winter at some point.

  8. Hi, I was hoping to get some recommendations on Romance VNs that I haven't already read. List is under profile.

I actually looked for some more upcoming or recent releases but I could not find any that were not nukiges or utsuges (With the exception of Island back in August)

Thanks to anyone who recommends something!

Edit* If possible I would like them to have an english translation, my reason is in one of my replies below. Thanks again!

  9. Well with the slim chances that the fandisc will be officially translated, seeing as its been 4 months since release and no news and in august they said "We usually only translate the fandiscs of games that sell really well " then went on to say we should tell friends and people to buy the game and from what others were saying it sold okay but not as well as titles like shuffle or princess evangile so that it was unlikely to be translated( It was only on the charts for a few days and have been scarcely there since). This made me feel it would be best just to at least close out the game knowing the true events that end it on that fandisc instead of being left in the dark. But I respect that you don't wanna spoil it as if it ever was translated then I would already know the events. Here's to hoping they actually translate it before I decide to hook it and read it with terrible machine translation.

(Man if I knew Japanese I would be so better off)

  10. I guess that answers my questions mostly. I already had the the understanding that Tohru remembered every lifetime and emotion he felt during those lifetimes( or parallel worlds if you will). I just thought the ending would have a more definitive "Yeah I love Yuuko" or " I don't feel that way towards someone who tortured me albeit subconsiously" though, you could argue Maia was the same way yet he loved her but instead he falls in love with someone's idealistic incarnation of themselves. Reason why I had that thought was that ChronoClock (Which was made by the same devs) actually capitalized on that parallel world theory for its true ending so I guess my assumption was incorrect for HapyMaher in this case. I do agree with you as I'm glad it wasn't a harem. Never liked those and never will, that's why I haven't watched most harem anime unless there is a clear person chosen at the end (Highschool dxd or something of its nature).

Another thing, the true ending leads us on to believe that Alice is still in Yuuko and is the reason why she had an emotional outburst into Tohru's chest. This also made me think that the fandisc has a huge impact on definitively ending the story. I sense that maybe you disliked the fandisc or it presented very hard material to explain in relevance to my question but do you know any site that has a review/ discussion I could read just to know the gist of the fandisc( Since ya know Mangagamer doesn't translate fandiscs unless the series is widely popular *cough* Shuffle! *cough*)

Thanks though for answering my questions!

  11. After finishing Hapymaher like 30 minutes ago I had a few questions. I actually bought this game near its release date back in the end of July and never got around to it. But here I am!

My questions are (Spoilers! Look away if you do not want these!)

    A. Did Tohru actually love Yuuko at the end of it all or did he only care about Yuuko because Alice was a part of her? He's a scumbag if he doesn't love her after going back to alter her past.

    B. What happens in the fandisk that affects the true route ending? Like does the question above get answered? Actually if anyone could provide a brief summary of the fandisk or maybe link a site with a review I would be very appreciative.

    C. What were the thoughts of you that finished the vn on the true route(Yuuko)?

    Thanks!

Edit* Upon closer look at vndb fandisk page, it seems that Tohru does feel something towards Yuuko in the image where hes holding her hand. Is that an accurate interpretation?

I guess you can try both of Deardrops and Yoake first along with Symphonic Rain, before going to Sanoba which will be released at 26th later. Other than that, I guess I could suggest you to try some GL VNs like Hakuai and Yurirei. I hope that my recommendations here would be helpful to you.

I've read Deardrops actually and its sequel/fandisc. Yoake is also something I guess I read and never added it to my list. Thanks though!

  13. Hi again! It's another month and once again I'm running out of material to read. I went and purchased most of the recommended ones from my last request post. So here I am hoping there are still a few that I may get my hands on aside from the ones that I am waiting for (Im looking at you "The most forbidden love in the world" , "Hello Goodbye", and "Melty Moment". ).  The ones I did not purchase were eden* and the Key recommendations, mainly because I don't enjoy their vns as much (clannad was good), and eden*  sounds like a tragic love that brings about the end of the world story. Other than those I did play and finish quite a few of the ones I purchased while "On call" for work, or on my days off. Thanks for any recommendations in advance!

*Edit - My list under my profile

  14. To everyone that has given me recommendations I thank you. I am currently in the process of buying Kono Oozora (Been putting this one off for years lol) and Deardrops (seemed like something different from school atmosphere or time paradoxes [Im looking at you Island, Chrono Clock, and Da Capo oh and Newton and the Apple Tree]).

    Thanks again!

  15. After completing everything I was recommended by a couple of friends, I am out of material to read. All of what I read should be in my VNDB list, minus the one I'm on the edge for (Island). So if anyone has any recommendations similar to what is on my list I would be grateful. Maybe even if it isn't like anything I've read you could recommend it so long as it is romance (and please don't say saya no uta lol)

I understand that completely, I even cried a bit during some parts of her route (even during Emmy's route) whenever the subject got brought up.

I'll admit Alice's route made me tear up a bit as well.{Especially the absolute last part when MC says "At that moment I could have sworn the wind carried in the scent of a certain little girl"Had me thinking she figured out how to come to his time*sniffs*

Haven't teared up since Hoshimemo or Da capo 3. (Also during my playthrough of Witcher 3 like 4 or 5 months ago.)
