  1. Simple: people read all of the comments about how Alternative is the best thing ever and pure perfection. They download the first game and instead of getting the epic story they expected they get... a typical school life harem.

I read all the hate about Extra so I knew what to expect. I personally dislike it because I'm not a slice-of-life person and I've seen enough anime to be bored to death by all the overused character "personalities".

That's a fair statement on your end, but I'm actually not surprised on the dislike but more on the hate factor. There are quite a few VN's out there who are on the same or even lower level of Muv Luv Extra and don't get that treatment. It's one thing not to like it, but it's entire thing when people simply hate it and label it as trash. But I guess your first two sentences cover the reason for disappointment that most of them have.

  2. Picture an anime

Now immagine everything that could possibly be wrong with an anime be wrong.

Now immagine it's borrowing the setting of one of your favorite franchises.

    That is Total Eclipse.

*shurgs* People really set their standard way high up. I've seen a few people like it, myself included. It's not really good, but it's not THAT bad. People are being too subjective because there are almost no deaths. Of course if you're expecting Alternative you'll get disgusted. The show focuses less on Beta and more on political struggle with flawed and naive ideas. I just take show for what it is. I liked the characters, some more then the ones from Alternative. I think everyone should try it and see for themselves.

Btw, boy am I glad I didn't skip Extra and Unlimited. Knowing all that backstory is making MLA so much more fun to read. And helps you understand the characters a lot more. Besides, Unlimited is pretty good imo, and Extra isn't nearly as horrible as people say.

Extra is really entertaining on its own, don't know why people hate it. Has some good gags and drama thrown in. Especially Unlimited, the ending had me in tears. Alternative is definitely great but it wouldn't be as awesome as it is if you don't experience everything in full package.

  3. Ah, Shingeki no Kyojin, it's everywhere now. Personally, I didn't read the manga when I started, but I spoiled myself a few things now. When I began watching, it was superb. I loved the setting and the feeling of despair. The OST and animation is amazing too. But as the new episodes piled up, it went a bit downhill for me.

For few reasons, but the one that I really didn't like is the human transformation into Titans, with hax power and whatnot.

It slowly started to fade from drama and suspense to shonen type of show. It's still good and I eagerly watch every new episode, but it's not that ''out of this world awesome'' which makes people go crazy about it.

  4. I'll give Kill la Kill, Yozakura Quartet, Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai and Walkure Romanze a try. Definitely watching Blazblue, Strike the Blood and Persona 3. May check Infinite Stratos and Freezing again, even though season one was average for me.

  5. I also recommend Da Capo, second one at that. Try Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai as well, It's not 100% completed, but it fits your other criteria. Muv-Luv Extra is another choice too.

  6. What Rooke said above. There is nothing interesting within Monster Girl Quest if you not interested into well... monster girls themselves and the rape of male character by their hands... or tentacles. The whole unite humans with monsters kind of story isn't new but it's fun with likable cast wrapped together. As for me, I like the game because I'm into the whole wicked designs monster fetish, even though there are some pretty grotesque ones. Finished the first two games and waiting for complete translation of the 3rd one myself.

Same with Okasare Yuusha series, where the plot and battle system is even weaker, but the art is pretty awesome.

  7. As I recall, Sono Hanabira games usually have sweet and nicely written h-scenes. Maybe I find it so appealing cuz' they are girls and they tend to be more gentle to each other. And I agree with Kara no Shoujo.

As for my personal preference, I like the ones with female dominance including footjobs and such. But they are mostly not that well-written so I guess I shouldn't include them here.

  8. Yandere in a minute...*sigh* Like..I just pressed New game and BAM! H-scene...I couldnt help but facepalm and skip foward to the best of my abilites, I mean, I just got to know the girl (me, not the character) and didnt even find her attractive or anything, but the game forced me to be a perve, wich tottaly ruined the moment, WHERE IS MAH OPTIONS GODDANGIT!

Upupupu, so you basically knew what game I was thinking off. Haha, awesome. :D

Id rather have a scene where they just stand on top of a hill kissing or hugging eachother while the sun sets then a H-one

Yup, that pretty much is the winner for me. Some really tender moment can win hands down any erotic scene they throw at our way.

  9. Maybe the sales of Ni No Kuni were good enough to have them suddenly realizing, many in the west are desperate for good jrpgs?

I've been desperate for jrpgs for quite a while now, and a lot of them came and are still coming. But alas, vary few are localized. I've finished with begging for localizations. I've send an application to the newly soon-to-start funded Japanese course in my country. There is still money to be paid, and only few will be selected but hopefully I'll be able to enter and learn the language. I think that in 2 years I'll be able to read something in order to play a few games. Not to mention a vast majority of VNs out there.

Honestly man, looking at the new Eiyuu Densetsu: Sen no Kiseki just makes me tear up.

And I don't want to further stray away from topic, but I have to ask. Why don't we have a gaming discussion thread? It would be cool to have a new topics like this one with each new game released in separate thread. Something to talk about and post our opinions, yes? ^^

  10. Good thing I have a PS3, just for these type of releases. Hehe

No kidding. There is a pretty neat lineup on the PS3, and hopefully we will see more by the end of it's lifespan. That said, I'm really looking forward in playing Xillia. ^^

  11. I'm okay with it if these scene don't come out of nowhere. Like, "let's have sex now !" and they barely know each over. That what I hate the most :)

    To put it more accurately:

    Male: Hey... let's have sex!

    Female: Eh? That's a bit...

Male: What... you don't like me?

    Female: N-no... I do... it's just...

Male: If you like me then there is no problem... right?

Female: Well.. if it's you, then I don't mind...

    me: Fuuuuuuuuuuuu...

    :D
