  1. Just wanted to thank you for the link! This tutorial is exactly what I've been looking for! :-)
  2. I don't think extracting would be really the problem, since there are lots of tools for that. There's always some CG download pack available for VNs, which means that they already had been extracted successfully. Also, Renpy definitely has enough tools to create a good VN. I think the problem is more: You would be creating a counterfeit. Fan translation is just a language patch for fans and you also have the argument that it's also for people who bought the game and want to play it. But making a complete replica of an existing game isn't just a patch anymore.
  3. I also had this idea once, but first, as Emi said, it would probably require a lot of work, and the transitions and stuff would probably never be as good as in the original, and second, this probably goes over the limit of just a "fan translation". It's more like duplicating an existing work completely.
  4. Thanks for the encouragement! :-) I agree, Tony Taka's art is just wonderful. His girls always look really sexy^^ It's a good mix between anime style and a more realistic style, I think. From the Fault!! games, I really like the character design of Reiko Wingfield senpai. She's also one big reason why I'd like to see the game translated ;-P @topic Probably not very helpbul, but from what I could make out, I think that excfarc-file uses some selfmade libraries ('as-util.h', 'as-lzss.h'), which, at some point, are used to undo a lzss-compression on some of the txt-files, or something like that. There should be probably also other libraries for c++ in the internet which do the same job, I think?
  5. Hello, first, I wanted to ask if anyone is working on a translation of Ciel's "Fault!!" VNs. I have seen that there exists some translation of it in the "Visual Novel Reader" software, but there, some lines are missing and also, some lines were translated a bit wrong. Also, while "Visual Novel Reader" is definitely an awesome software, I still think that an actual TL patch is still a more comfortable solution. Second, I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to repack scripts for the "Fault!! Ace" game or maybe could tell/show me how to. I was able to extract the scripts (the file is "msg.arc") with ExtractData or a small tool named "excfarc" (http://asmodean.reverse.net/misc/_/excfarc.zip). Apparently, the source c++ file is just 5KB, but I'm still far too inexperienced with programming to understand how to reverse the extraction process from it. Also, I have no idea about c/c++-libraries, writing/reading from files and stuff. I have to admit that I'm just experimenting here. I know that translating the full game is out of my capabilities, but I can imagine myself translating at least a smaller section of it.
