1. happy new year xD I spend the eve and the new year celebration playing muv luv and It was so much fun xD didn't need to get drunk xD

And lets pray for the next year to be as good as this one (this one I discovered VNs so it was really good year)

  2. I've never played much of the game so it's hard for me to say. The anime, though, I'm not enjoying too much so far. In fact, it makes me question why so many people regard Little Busters' game to be one of the best.

An episode dedicated to making food in the kitchen, then one about finding a book, and another about a talking bird. Well, you know, yeah.

well on that I can respond only 1 thing: "read the VN and stop watching the anime NOW!" xD

Yeah its a problem when they take 10 hour plot and make 40 minutes (2 episodes) from it and then they take 20 minute minigame (food thing) and make a 20 minute episode from it as well xD

  3. Huh? But I never see any *** ******. Does it mean I didn't even get Rin1 correct?

If you saw the white message on black saying something about path you didn't take then you got rin1 done.

Now you should forget everything else you read in this topic as Alxariam didn't use spoiler tag xD

  4. MINOR SPOILER BELOW (Dunno how to do spoilers or anything similar)

    you put the text into
SPOLIER TEXT
hm it might be because I played rin1 as last and then I replayed the common and got rin2 so I thought you have to play the full common again - save at the very beginning of rin1 didn't work for me

  5. (Sorry to reply to this on you intro thread... but KS evangelists, unite!) Steve... Steve... Steve...

Up 'till now you thought Fuwanovel was a nice, warm, welcoming place. You're dead wrong. Go play Katawa Shoujo right now or we'll no longer be friends. It'll freakin' change your life.

    That is all.

(Just kidding, just kidding) (kind of) (maybe)

ohmy.gif but... but... but it doesn't have ultra over-moe characters and voices sad.gif

Well it definitely is high on my list though xD Like number 20 xD Well the world hasn't ended so I think I will play it one day xD

  6. Hello and welcome!

Nice to see someone with your skills here, there is now problem with the blog so maybe if you ask Tay or when Aaeru is back, there might be something you can do there smile.gif

I always wanted to learn javascript but never got to it sad.gif

Also every time I read someone mention Katawa Shoujo, I think so much about playing it xD I never got to it as I got scared by the "disabled girls" aspect but it seems I am really missing on this one xD

Well I didn't read almost anything about it as I don't want spoilers so my imagination might be wrong xD I think I should give it a try in the near future smile.gif

  7. Yeap that is a really touching moment.. How nostalgic, after seeing this it makes me feel like wanting to replay Hoshimemo again smile.gif

thats why I always take memo saves (although for some reason hoshimemo doesnt have memo line sad.gif ) - I have my favorite moments saved xD Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Also just listening to the music brings back memories xD

[these songs are unlocked pretty early in the game so dont worry about music spoiler]

and ofc the ED songs xD but well i wont spoil those smile.gif

(OP is so great as well)

oh btw for people who finished, this is so awesome video: http://www.nicovideo...watch/sm6611208

awesome song combined with the SD graphics you cant display otherwise (without ripping the game)

    brings back so much memories..

  8. I tried few of the programs but they are mostly for tourists and pretty lame. Yes they can teach you how to order food in japanese but most of the time they teach you the polite masu form, which sure is handy to know because some characters in both VNs and anime use it - but they don't tell you that, they teach it to you like it is the only form (to make it simple), where as when character talks in this form in non formal events (in school) it says something about the character etc. Like the masu form is basics and you need to know it to make for example the -tai form for wanting something.

They never explain the plain forms though and how to form those from the masu form.

Well I don't want to trashtalk all the programs as I tried only few and don't even remember which ones exactly, some audio etc.

But mostly I really found them to be waste of time.

I then asked around as well and got few recommendations which I followed and changed a little and this is the way I took:

    1. learn hiragana and katakana - this one is the most important because most of the actual guides will require you to read it

    2. learn grammar, I got few recommendations and I liked this one the most: http://www.japanesegrammar.com.au/

it has it simple and even some examples of words you can use there.

Any other youtube videos are handy like what you mentioned tea kim guide http://www.youtube.c.../taekimjapanese

However that one doesn't get you that far.

    3. What I did after this was just watch shitloads of anime and read VNs in english and pay attention to the spoken japanese.

that got me some basic dictionary etc. When I noticed something I recognized I often googled why is it that way and why they use this form and got some more.

    4. and now I am on the probably hardest step - actual dictionary and kanji. - what I am doing here is learning words with kanji, not just the kanji itself. I try reading and when I meet kanji I learn it and the word it forms in that sentence.

I am at beginning but if I explain what I mean, there is the list of top 2500 used kanji in newspaper or whatever, but even there are kanji you will never ever see in VN or anime so no point learning those, yet there are kanji you often see in VNs and anime that are not there. Its not like they are used in single VN.

For example kanji 儚 for word hakanai - fleeting/ephemeral is used so often in songs and VNs or "cool" souding stuff you read on the internet about the games. And it is so easy, its just 夢 (yume - well this one is like the most used in anime/vn xD they dream so often there xD) with that first part from 化. So why not learn that one together when learning yume.

Actually what I personally would like is to find a list of the 2000 most used kanji in EROGE, listed in categories with similar radicals and words for those kanji xD but I didn't find anything like that.

oh and for the end I will add few useful sites

    http://nihonshock.com/2010/04/12-japanese-ime-tips/ - useful info

http://www.jisho.org/ - very awesome site, it has words, kanji, sentences, radicals, everything you need from dictionary

http://kanjidamage.com/radicals - I got recommended this recently, the actual site is not as good for me as it uses mnemonics but it has this list of kanji for specific radical which makes it very useful for me

  9. Been considering whether or not I should use it since I heard it's not exactly user-friendly and takes a while to set up.

quite easy for me, took me like 5 minutes to setup correctly - its intuitive if you know what you want to have.

but I work with pc every day, don't know how it will be for someone only using computer casually (if you are such person)

I even tried translating and posting my translation but i gave up on that idea as I was thinking more about how to formulate that sentence in english than what the meaning actually is. And that with english being my second language made it a waste of time for me, ill learn to understand japanese first and then translate.

I made a post about how awesome it is with that, it even has screen how it looks with my setup

  10. Firstly, Hello and welcome to fuwanovel.

Little Busters! blew me away in all the best ways. I came, I saw, I even cried "a little" there at the end.

A little????? You don't have to be ashamed, we all cried a river multiple times during that VN xD

Haruka route OMG, cried for like half an hour or how long the final ending was xD

Actually I have to thank to VNs, I only started about a year ago with Anime and VNs and it was the first time I cried after a very long time. Maybe even like 8 years when I cried because I was beaten or something. I didn't really cried during break ups with girls, I was more like angry or something.

And then I started with Anime and VNs and it got me so much I just wanted to play them just to cry xD Nukiges are my favorites for sure.

  11. @supah kawaii weeaboo

Yeah, that would be much better than English producers - Japanese producers actually releasing JP and EN version on the same day.

Actually if I remember right it was the same with Games, I think first 3 final fantasy games werent released in English and only those from 4 were.

Maybe if they see big enough market to pay for the expenses of development including English translation "on the go", not after the release, they will make it ohmy.gif Unfortunately the Japanese prices are much higher and they need to understand, if they released FF for 120$ not much western people would buy it, but for standard price of a console game many people will take it. If they want to sell VNs in west, they need to be cheaper.

  12. Hoshizora no Memoria. Probably the longest common route I've ever seen in a VN like this. Just finished up my first route (Komomo) and was quite satisfied at how it all turned out. They make it a little too obvious that you're being misled, though. Now to decide decide between Aoi or Asuho for my next route...

Yep, the common was so long and awesome :) best common I read so far.

And Mokoko route was really awesome. Also you have now unlocked Kosame route if you want so you might want to finish that before going for the other arc (Aoi and Chinami).

  13. How far have you gotten? I can read hiragana and katakana and a few kanji, although very slowly and it takes me a while before I can figure out what a sentence or word is supposed to mean. I also know some vocabulary, mostly picked up from watching anime AHAHA.

Pretty much the same, I would say hira and kata and about 150, maybe 200 kanji, im not making any cards so its hard to count but there is lots of easy ones.

Im trying to read VNs using annot player color transcripion - I turned off all the translation and romaji and left only the original but colored to separate different words, quite useful. And I can click the kanji to copy it and get the meaning.

  14. I would like to have a dream with my future wife Mare :)

One day when the real and animated worlds will connect xD

As for English produced VNs, I don't think there will ever be time when VNs as we know them are produced for western audience.

If you look at anime and manga, those 2 are imo much more popular in west than VNs, yet if you compare Japanese animation with western one or Japanese comics with western ones, its totally different thing.

For example animation for adults is almost non-existant in west, yes you can take few series like south park, futurama or simpsons that are watched by adults (family guy etc, might have missed few), but look at how big american movie production is and how much of animated series/movies are actually at least "watchable" by adults without facepalming.

Then compare it with size of Japan and the amount of anime there is.

And like I said, that is animation, Japanese anime is very popular in west - yet there is close to none west produced adult animation.

Then look at VNs, those are not nearly as popular as anime.

And even if you compare the japanese animation and western animation targeted for aduls, in the western one you don't find a single animation including moe.

If moe animation isn't good enough for western producers to earn money, VNs will hardly be, at least those traditional with routes and dating and girls.

However people in the west also understand to concept of VN - story being told with player able to affect it.

And then you see games like Walking Dead - It is close to VN, more like advanced one with rendered characters, quick time events and adventure movement.

That is imo the only way west can get close to what they do in Japan.

With that said, the problem isn't that people wouldn't like moe, exactly the opposite, when I show some moe to people ALONE, they admit that it isn't bad at least. But once you say it infront of multiple people who don't know about it, everybody is too shy to admit they like it. And we can thank for that the prejudging western nature - that is how people here are.

Actually I might dare to say that it isn't just western problem, its the humanity problem, Japanese might tolerate a lot of their own culture but I have seen many blunders by big Japanese companies acting stupid because they don't understand a western market or audience. I don't know much about ordinary people there and how prejudging those are but well, the big powerful companies are the ones who decide the "public opinion" most of the time, via media manipulating people into thinking what they want them to think.

And again this became an essay xD But well I was saying, the world should have ended, with all the evilness and injustice in the world, humanity would deserve it :) That is my thinking most of the time, luckily there are even times when my faith for humanity is restored, this community might be a good example :) But I am even talking in bigger deals, people helping each other, gamers standing behind each other, hell even manga lovers willing to help a person arrested for owning some loli or whatever - with their own money and time. There still is chance for humanity, too bad there are those pigs who ruin the overall image :(

  15. I must add Chuunibyou to my favorite animes too, I was waiting for a full season torrent and it was worth it, Otherwise I wouldn't have handled this with 7 days in between, I didn't even go to toilet, that's how good it was xD

And this awesome MAD if it can be called mad.
