  1. I finally got my copy of white album 2 installed but my zip file said it won't extract voice.pak, SE.pak and mv080.pak. Could anyone who has white album 2 help upload the files to Google drive or some other file sharing site and send it to me? I can still run WA2 but its super laggy and I wanna get rid of this issue as soon as possible.

Welcome to Fuwanovel even though you already have few posts in here, although it's not like I should speak about it anyway seeing I made introduction thread after had 40 posts). I also like Subahibi to a degree, although I didn't pay much attention to the philosophy stuffs even though it supposed to be the main feature. Anyway, I hope that you'll enjoy yourself in here.

I don't engage in philosophy and I still love subahibi

  3. its fine actually. I found a way to get it...

It hasn't released yet, still being QC'ed. You should really check VNDB for this stuff. The only way to legally obtain Tsui no Sora Remake is to buy the subahibi 10th anniversary, which I'm pretty sure it's on getchu at the very least. If you want to obtain it illegally then you'll have to ask on some other site, pretty sure it's against the rules here.

Most AI API providers assume you can write basic code yourself. Even though about a year and a half has passed since AI really took off, this is still very early in terms of software development since software development takes time, especially for quality software. There are not a lot of good options right now, and almost all of them require tinkering and being very familiar with the particulars of both the model you are using and the API you are working with. A short 100 line python program could do it, but you would have to plug in your data manually and format it or whatever.

Some examples are DazedMTLTool, Translator++, SLR Translator, and a handful of other projects on github in various states of development. Dazed is ChatGPT only. Translator++ is DRM'd paid software that requires constant internet connection to validate your patreon account, the AI addons cannot be used otherwise. SLR Translator is not yet released but should have some AI addons shortly after it is released. Shortly means like within a few months.

DeepL has also started to incorporate AI into their API as well, so you can just submit a prompt that has extra information for DeepL to consider when generating their output. They are not currently charging for this but like... they are going to very soon, so use it while you can. DeepL is free for the first 500k characters/month. All other APIs are paid/rate limited. If you want to do unlimited, then you basically have to run AI yourself locally using KoboldCpp or similar programs and write your own software to interface with it. That said, IDK of any software that has working DeepL API + prompt translations working, so you are back to writing it yourself territory there.

If you just want basic translations, NMTs are much easier to use. Personally use my repackage for the Sugoi v4 NMT model. It has an easy to use Web UI written by one of the server authors, so I just dump the raw text in there and get it back right away. But NMT models, like Sugoi v4, are not AI obviously, they are the precursor to contemporary AI. They are basically free though 500+ lines in ~30s to calculate w/CUDA, and they provide a good basis to create edited MTL patches as long as you are willing to take a bit of time to format the output yourself.

Edited MTL is better quality than AI generated TLs because it means a human looked at the output, so do not look down on NMTs too much. Just because AIs are the superior successor technology does not mean they produce superior output without A LOT of fiddling and certainly they do not compare well against edited NMT translations at all.

In terms of quality: Human translator > Edited MTL (AI or NMT) > MTL (AI) > MTL (NMT) > MTL (Dictionary)
In terms of cost and ease of use: MTL (Dictionary) > MTL (NMT) > MTL (AI) > Edited MTL (AI/NMT) > Human translator

wow that's a lot of info. Thank you for helping me out! I will look into the methods you recommended

Sorry, but playing non-localized JVNs, especially old ones, pretty much requires the locale change.  I'm surprised it even starts on a Mac, given the lack of emphasis on compatibility towards Mac computers in the JVN industry.

My suggestion is to use a sandbox app and put Japanese Windows or English Windows on it, then install the game there.  Sorry to say that that is the only workaround I can think of at the moment.

Its ok that you can't help. I use WINE to run visual novels on my Mac so I might be able to figure out a locale change on there. I'll try to use a sandbox app or whatever it is. I haven't had experience dealing with them in the past so I'll have to look into how to get it to run.

  6. I've been hearing a lot about AI and the fact that MTL are getting significantly better to the point where Crunchyroll is actively using it. I was wondering what MTL program people would recommend for me if I wanna try to patch a VN.

i couldnt get shizuku working on neko project, could you tell me how you did it?

its been a while since I did it but you have to load the files in seperate disc slots or something. idk I just figured it out. I know this isn't helpful but it has been a while since I messed with neko project

  8. I recently saw that Tsui no sora remake is fully translated and stuff and I went to try and find the VN but idk where to get it. Please don't tell me that I need to buy the subahibi anniversary thing. I know that nobody here actually has bought that to read it. I'm confused on how people are supposed to read the translation if the VN is literally nowhere on the internet. (also I don't wanna use nyaa to torrent it because I don't wanna get an ISP warning)

A few questions: Is it the PC version?

If so, did you set you system locale and region format to Japan and Japanese format? (This is required for a lot of JVNs, and it can be done by using the search bar to look for the control panel and clicking on 'region')

If it is the console version, I can't help.

I am using a Mac and Linux computer but I don't wanna change my locale because I don't know how it will mess up my computer. I figured out that I can view the files if I use a locale emulator on PC (I tested it on a library computer, not my own) but I don't know how to get a locale emulator for Mac.

  10. subahibi is peak. I always need help with tech issues and love 2000s aethsthetic for vns but I can never find just the right one to satisfy me. I love cieltsukihimeremake_cielopeningthumbnail.jpg

  11. I've seen some old posts on Twitter about some visual novels coming with bonus content for flip phones and stuff so I was wondering where I could find this content. I also wanna know where I can find some anime desktop apps (omake clocks, note apps, calendars, etc.) because I saw in a VN artbook that some came with them. I have only really been able to find Lucky star desktop apps and ukugakas on archive.org but IDK where to find any other ones. Can anyone plz help? I need VN desktop apps in my life.

  12. I recently installed chaos head off the game disc and tried to read some of the game files and they all had garbled text. IDK what the issue is because I have JP fonts installed and I have no clue how to open it with locale emulator. I've looked online but I still haven't found a helpful answer for my issue. I also tried getting some desktop accessories to work for a visual novel and they have instructions that are all in garbled text. I understand its because my computer doesn't have the JP fonts and it uses UTF-8 but could anyone help me? The files I wanna read are .txt and there are some that are a .html file.

Not really because both are just charage/moege, and more importantly there's no story relation between those two unlike Utawarerumono. Even if there's some connection between those two, most likely it's just the nod to the previous VN like WA2 did refer the events from WA (And also share the same song). So yeah, you can just immediately jump to To Heart 2 if you want to read it, and so you didn't really need for Shiravune to somehow finally gain motivation to localize To Heart.

    thx

I believe Aquaplus stopped selling all of Leaf's games with the exception of Utawarerumono and the White Album series. So, I don't think there's any way to get them legally, except for buying used copies. Or you can use the alternative method.

Also, according to VNDB, both games you mentioned are still untranslated. The patches for both haven't been released yet.

oh... do you know where i can find them alternatively? you can message me the alternative methods or somehting.....

  15. I recently started watching 16 bit sensation and really had the urge to go and read some of the old leaf vns like shizuku and to heart. I checked vndb and it says that toheart is getting translated but I can't figure how to download the TL. I also can't figure out anywhere that I can download to heart or where to find a english patch for shizuku. Can anyone help me with these problems?
