The visual novel I remember was a about a male student, maybe 16-17 years old, falling in love with his female teacher. Depending on your dialogue choices, there were multiple endings, one of which was a sad ending, something like the teacher dying. It had really nice art. I dont remember it being like hentai/sexual. It was more about romance.
Thanks for any help. I have tried to find it on the VNDB, but I struggle to make use of it. I seem to remember making a forum post on Hongfire years back before it disappeared. Should have archived it then.

We really need a VN like that fast and pronto. Because so far, there has been almost zero depictions of Black Male MCs being in a romantic relationship with any anime-style girl except for Bob Makihara in a very old anime ( Tenjou Tenge ), so I would very much like to play at least ONE VN with an MC like that.
I'm a cosmic horror/guro guy, romance not so much. The 'Perceptions of the Dead' Anthology by Ithaqua Labs is great and has several pretty epic African American Characters. Their stuff is excellent and feels like a visual novel adaptation along the lines of some of the adventures from the old Call of Cthulhu Tabletop RPG, but with a more creative flair. Very cool.

Different art style, but the general aesthetic of her human facade is similar, as is her clothing choice (though she's a bit less moe and bit more seductive now).
SpoilerThis takes place years after the events of the original Nitro+ Visual Novel, following (obviously) the path where Fuminori is cured by Saya and she ventures off to 'Another World'.
Turns out that our continuation of the mythology of one certain Howard Philips Lovecraft (ACGS Founder 'Mr. C' is a relative of Lovecraft and very dedicated to expanding the universe,) in the Arcane City/Yog-Sothery Canon lines up with that concept rather well.She's going to be allied with the protagonists, and you'll get to learn a bit more about her backstory and her species origin, something that was overlooked in the original VN, but the Lovecraft Connection will be cemented.

We can confirm that Saya was never really 2d, she was more a product of multi-dimensional curved and angled space erupting from the centre of blaspemous chaos where dark flutes and drums play and keep that old ultimate of daemon sultan at rest.

The main dev in our team is in his early 40's and his 'waifus' are Saya, Lena (Everlasting Summer) and Cassidy Solaris (from our stuff - he created her after all). Nothing weird about it, it's just him being him

I'm just finishing Lyn;Lin and I like what it was going for at first, but... Why the infodumps? That's not how lovecraftian horror works. The moment the game starts explaining everything through plain narration, all the tension and mystery evaporates from it. :C
Ahhh...... but it waits to do that until the end, and this VN is connected to 'Through the Gates of the Silver Key' , which itself did some of those infodumps and explained mythos elements, for the first time in the history of Lovecraft's writing
It's meant to combine the two sides of that coin - dread and explanation of the Universe... a bit more of the Science Fiction aspect of things. Then at the very end with what you find out about the narrator (Lynthenea) and the person she's talking to, it kind of flips things into sadistic horror mode.
We were initially going to have a guest cameo by Randolph Carter himself but didn't want to derail the storyline from Caleeca.

The closest other story that lyn;lin is related to isn't even a visual novel, it's 'Through the Gates of the Silver Key' by HP Lovecraft and E. Hoffman Price and even brings back elements from Randolph Carter's meeting of Yog-Sothoth in that story
Other influences are the old 'Twilight Zone' Tv Show, Junji Ito, and Stephen King. Visual Influences are heavily influenced by 1980s Body Horror Stuff like John Carpenter's 'The Thing', films like 'From Beyond' and 'Society', etc. so we're kinda coming from a waaaaaaaaaay different direction than most creators I think! 
I don't know if that's good or bad.

Go ahead and spoil it! Just push the spoiler button! I'm curious what you thought. We've gotten some comparisons to a certain unique VN (ahem....S N U) and also mentions of (M B) and another one.

Edit: I can reproduce the bug(?) easily by starting from the beginning. The transition only works if I load a save, which also makes a background image white where it would show a picture otherwise
Edit 2: the save has to be close to the crash point to stop the bug from occurring as well.

It wouldn't need to have like, anything special to end it after a certain time showing the black screen, you could just show some glitchy picture, play a sound, then make the program exit or whatever.
On 'The Virgin' or Lyn;Lin? The Virgin was our freshman project xD Lyn;Lin (Sequel) is a bit more refined

I think that worldbuilding requires a lot of attention to your own established continuity and you have to be a trekkie as a prerequisite to make sure that everything adheres to canon
