[Is it possible to play japanese PS1 games...]

I don't know where is should put this...

But is it possible to play Japanese PS1 games with a PAL PS1?

I tried this game with an unofficial translation and it works  It took many restarts (maybe 10-50, but that's same with every game that I have tried to burn ) but some times it boots and if I skip the intro it works just fine but if I don't skip the intro it freezes. Thats probably caused by my noobines or incompatible CD's.
