  1. You said the steampunk series. Is this Skien no Inganock a game in a series? Like are there prequels or sequels and what not, or is it a shared universe? I ask because when I dive into a game and if I end up enjoying it, I like to devour all content related to it. Based on all these recommendations, I've been building a pretty big library tonight. Thank you all again very much. Already have 9 of these on my PC in a library, waiting for me to get to them. Please by all means though, keep them coming if you think of any great ones you may have missed! The more the better!
  2. So much!! Awesome!! I hope these are all in English. Can't wait to play! They should keep me busy for a month or so anyway! *gets hit by a car before he ever gets started. Haunts this forum.*
  3. So, here are the VNs I've played so far. Steins;Gate Steins;Gate 0 Root Double If My Heart Had Wings Katawa Shoujo Never 7 Rewrite (currently playing) Zero Escape Series (kind of a VN) Danganronpa (Kind of a VN) However, I HAVE seen these anime, so I currently don't want to play the VNs for them, even if they differ a little or a lot.. All the KEY ones (Clannad, Air, Kanon, Rewrite, Little Busters, etc) Fate/Stay (I know there are like three different games, but let's just leave them out for now) Damn... I'm blanking on any others right now, but I'll make sure to point it out if they come up. I might be missing one or two, but I'm pretty sure that's most of them. The best thing about being new to form of entertainment is that I have yet to play all the masterpieces and classics. Could you guys throw a bunch my way? Oh also, english only please. Long games are absolutely fine, as are complex ones. I don't have anything against romance based games, but I'd like some that are more focused on interesting things.. By that for example, I mean stories like Steins;Gate, Root Double, Zero escape, etc., where while there is romance in it, and even different routes for different girls, it isn't the main focus, if you get my drift. EDIT: English patched games are fine too of course.
  4. Hrmmmmm don't recall asking for any links. As for the recommendations... are most people here able to read Japanese?
  5. awesome thank you! Could you by chance give me a link to the tiny dungeon series? The fact that there are four games sounds promising, as long as they're good. Not to be a begging chooser, but I kind of wish you didn't explain the gist of each one of those.. Ungrateful I know.. EDIT: Oh also, are all these games in english? Does that include all four games in the tiny dungeon series? Still trying to figure out where I get visual novels, as they kind of seem to be scattered on the net.
  6. Huh?.... But I never said anything about him remembering anything in Rewrite. I just said I'm in the middle of playing it. Anywho, yeah Steins;Gate was one of the first VNs I played. Unfortunately, while he definitely goes through time loops and what not, none of what happens in other routes actually transfers over. As for Clannad, it's one of my favorite anime. Unfortunately that means I've watched it a ton of times, so I don't think it'd be very interesting to play through the VN. I was considering playing the prequel or the Tomoya(o?) After one, but with no Nagisa, there's no life. Also, while playing through all the other routes does in fact unlock the true route, that doesn't mean he remembers the other routes, right? To be honest I'm not sure myself, as in the anime he kind of does..? maybe? at the end? I'm not sure. But either way I think it'd be hard to enjoy the VN completely if I've already watched the anime over and over. Lastly the Infinity series, I finished Never 7 and I stopped in the middle of Ever 17 because another VN caught my interest. I'll definitely get back into it though. Unfortunately Never 7 didn't have what I'm talking about. By that I mean the whole remembering other routes. Maybe the other two do though (ever 17 and Remember..11 i think?)
  7. So I'm in the middle of playing Rewrite, but I thought I'd ask so I could line up another VN for after. I really liked the zero escape series. The thing I loved most was that things you did in other routes, the MC actually rememebered them. Are there any other VNs like that out there? Where the memories of what happened in one route transfers over to the next route, letting you either progress or get a better ending? It's just always felt weird that when you have to sometimes play through one route to unlock another route, new options appear in the second route that weren't there until you beat the first route. However in "reality", your MC didn't do anything different, nor did he remember anything from the other routes. Somehow that new choice is simply there without any explanation as to why. Sooo anyway... Are there any good VNs out there with memories that can be transferred from route to route?
  8. Awesome! You've renewed my interest in the VN. Saluta-welldone!
  9. ahh no i only watched the first season. Does that mean I'm safe to keep playing and i'll the routes will be new?
  10. Hrmmm ok, I'm now going the Kotori route. I actually have another question. I remember in the anime that the ending was somewhat tragic. I assumed that was just one of the route endings, but.. I guess what I'm asking is, is there a happy ending route at the end? Like a true route where everyone's happy? Normally I'd automatically assume that, but for some reason I have it in my head that someone once said that Rewrite is a tragic VN. Makes me worry that there's no "True" happy ending route. Obviously I'd like to avoid specific spoilers, but if the "true" ending is what happens in the anime (I think it was being turned into part of a tree if I remember correctly), then I REALLY don't wanna bother with it anymore.
  11. Hrmmm ok, thank you guys. I remember watching the anime a while back, but at first I couldn't remember most of it so I was happy to play. However, bit by bit, everything is coming back to me, killing off suprises one by one. Hope I have the energy to finish it all.
  12. Bah if qualifying for a heroine route means stalking these girls then I'm happy I didn't. Seems to be half the choices.. "Follow (so and so)?"
  13. So I'm having a good but maybe a little boring time playing Rewrite when... the game just ends, going to the title screen... I'm guessing... that was one of the endings?... It was right after the MC was hiking alone in the woods and ended up finding that dead carcass of the giant worm like creature. Then he went back to the club, talked to the prez for a bit, then the scene cut to him in school, mentioning that everyone is gone. Then he heard a melody..... Then it went to the title screen. Just to double check.. Was this an ending???? I thought maybe the game bugged or something. Do I just need to go with different choices? No spoilers if you can avoid it.... I just thought that was such a weird ending.. like it didn't even feel like an ending at all.
  14. Heya folks! Me again. So lately I've been playing Visual novels on PC. However I like to use the Splashtop 2 app on my android to play the PC games that are running on my PC on my phone, if that makes sense. Normally it's not really that much of a difference, but for some reason Rewrite doesn't seem to want to accept my "left click" on splash top a lot of the time. For example when you're using "Mappie" or whatever it's called in rewrite, I have to kind of hold down the left click icon in splash top, then click it again, yadda yadda yadda. Boring story short, it's a pain in the bum this way. So, I was hoping there was something like VNDS Interpreter for android that will play Rewrite. I did stumble across a thread on this site that says there's something that will play most Key games, but it seems like Rewrite is run on the Siglus engine, which that app doesn't support. So, besides using Splashtop 2, am I out of luck? I wish they'd port a lot of these awesome games straight to either IOS or android. That would be so awesome. (As long as they don't rip you off like they did with IMHHW on android.. Bought the game only to find out there was no VA. What a waste) Oh I'll also be more than happy to use my Ipad, so either android OR IOS would work. Thanks in advance for any help!
  15. Woah woah, why would you recommend starting with route B? The Before route spoils a lot of the After route. Like a huge chunk. Definitely start with the "After" route. Then play the "Before' route second. Anyway, I'm back because I've finished both the Before and After route. Now I've unlocked the "Current" route. However I was just curious, does the "Double" route unlock after this? Just want to make sure I didn't somehow miss unlocking the "Double" route, and that I should be playing the "Double" route before the "Current" route. If it unlocks after playing through "Current", then there's no problem of course.
  16. Ah! Current and Double! C and D! I stumbled across that in a walk through, but it was never explained WHAT it was exactly. Thank you for this explanation. Now I'm all hyped up to get back into it. I didn't want to play the Before route, only to find out it ends pretty much where the After route starts, with no explanation as to what happens after the After route ends. Jeesh, somehow the quoting system got all screwy.
  17. In other words it was a meaningless comment? k.
  18. Calm down buddy. Your comment didn't clear anything up. Ehhh sometimes. Other times he becomes more practical.
  19. I can't stand this way of making decisions... If I raise the MC's SSS rating during a decision... Is he going to be brave and jump into the fire?... or is he going to be wise and not jump in?... If someone is disagreeing with the MC but makes a good and rational point, will raising both the MC's and the person who's arguing's bar make the MC accept and admire that decision?.. Will raising only the arguer's bar and dropping the MC's make it so he ignores the arguer and makes a bad choice? Or does it mean he'll back down timidly? Same questions if I raise the MC's bar and drop the arguer's... >_< I'm all for trying something different but this system makes absolutely NO sense, no pun intended. ANYWAY, now that I've blown off some steam, the real reason why I'm here. I just got the good ending in the "After" story. I haven't even begun the "Before" story because a lot of people told me I should definitely do the "After" story first or I'll be spoiled a lot. The thing I'm confused about though, is that at the end of the "After" story in the good ending, it ends with a big cliff hanger... Doesn't the "Before" story take place BEFORE the "After" story, if that makes sense? In other words, am I not going to see what happens next in the "After" story"? It might sound silly, but if I get no more information about what happens next in the "After" story, then I really don't want to even bother playing "Before". Just in case your memory is fuzzy about what happens in the good ending of the "After" story, it ends with the MC and the young man he saved (and most likely shot?) locked inside area N, with the MC's squad mates and the researcher going nuts outside trying to kill him (I'm guessing due to the particles from the machine) and the young man's friend, a girl, slowly bleeding out somewhere (I've never seen her in the "After" story, though I'm sure she's in the "Before" story) Anyway, if it's left like that as a cliff hanger even after playing the "Before" story, I don't want to waste my time. Can someone tell me, without spoiling anything, if I DO get to find out what happens next from playing the "Before" story? Or if maybe I somehow missed more content in the "After" story? I can't believe they'd let the story end like that..
  20. So I played all of the zero escape games a while back when the third one came out. Knowing those stories, Sora in Ever 17 isn't exactly a mystery to me, even though I'm BARELY into the game's beginning. Knowing more or less what she is, is this going to have a big impact on the game's fun factor? Like, is this one of the huge pay offs? If so, I'm afraid Luna from the zero escape series took that role already. I mean I could be wrong, but I doubt it.. Will I still enjoy the game thoroughly? Or did I accidentally ruin a big chunk of it?
  21. Thank you all for the reassurance. Ever since never 7's append story didn't work on my android phone no matter what i did, i always worry there's something missing from the android converted version.
  22. So I've finished never 7, and I've moved on to Ever 17. I've noticed that the MC or maybe both MCs have their own voice acting. Or well, in the beginning they did. Suddenly the mc im playing as no longer has any voice acting. Once i realized there was no more voce acting when the mc was talking, i stopped right away and came here. The reason I'm unsure if this is a problem or not is because I'm playing on my android phone with an app like VNDB interpreter, so i don't know if something got corrupted when converting the game to use on this app, or if the MC suddenly having no VA is normal. Anyone know?
  23. you suck Turns out the guide I was using was just flat out wrong. Poked around and finally got it... Utterly disappointed in it... After lying to him about the experiment... you find out in a bad ending they were screwing with him yet again, getting all the other girls to try and kiss him. Izumi turned out to be a shitty person... The good ending is just flat out boring.. Has pretty much nothing to do with the rest of the game... ANYWAY... For some reason the append story STILL didn't work after I beat the izumi root on my android... So I just said screw it, downloaded it on my pc, and just finished skipping through each Good ending route for each character.. Let's hope the append function story thingy works now...
