I'll make a more detailed post about this later, but apparently Hoori (the name of the town) is based on real-life Kyoto, including spots as the Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka. And the Tomita family shrine is based on Ikuta Shrine in Sannomiya, Kobe.
Too lazy right now, but hopefully by the end of this month, I'll make a more detailed writeup. Hopefully... If someone is going to Japan before that and would like to see the spots, please drop me a message. I'll unlazy myself and get to work...
