  1. So finals' season is coming to a close and I finally have enough time to post here again.

A while ago I started playing Majikoi, but then I stopped because I want to wait for the full patch.

I only played Chris's route but here are my impressions so far.

    The Story:

    Prologue:

Let me start by saying this: this is the best common route I've ever played in a VN, beating even Grisaia no Kajitsu. It had the right amount of comedy, more serious moments, foreshadowing for the routes and just amazing pacing in general. It helps that every character is likable as well, but I'll get to that later.

The one thing that really sets apart this prologue from other VNs is how they introduced so many characters (at least 30 off the top of my head) and then took their time to flesh out every single one of them. Stuff like Hideo's talk with Gakuto about Wanko, Gen-san and Kyojin-sensei's relationship really added a complete feel to the world the characters live in. As for what actually happens, the inclusion of Chris and Mayucchi into the group is well done: it doesn't feel too fast or unnatural. I also really liked the little hints they kept dropping of something bigger behind the scenes, like with that Ryuhei guy who I have no idea of who he is yet.

If I have to say, the matches between Yamato and Touma were my favorite part. I really enjoy psychological battles like that.

    10/10 for the prologue.

  2. Amane's route didn't seriously give me nightmares; once you've read stories similar to that you kinda have to steel yourself mentally, or you just can't handle it.  That said, it did seriously affect me emotionally, and I felt pretty disturbed for a while afterwards.

    Sharin:

All hail Ririko, Queen of the Trolls. Best Sharin heroine, hands down. When she came out of nowhere I thought I was hallucinating or something, or that I fell asleep and I was dreaming that. Not even joking.

Well, I had only read Katawa Shoujo and Clannad before Grisaia. So I was...unprepared.

    And yes

    Ririko best girl.

  3. So I went into Kira Kira to read a happy, feel-good romance story about a band. I did expect drama because all routes gotta have that, but I still thought it wouldn't be very sad.

    And then

    Kirari died.

I was kind of speechless. Another thing that I definitely wasn't expecting was

Shikanosuke's mental conflict on whether to let Kirari's father die.

I mean, wow. It's not often you see something like that.

As for others, Al Fine in Symphonic Rain, because WAT. That beginning totally screwed with my head.

And also Amane's route in Grisaia. Actually gave me nightmares for a while.

Also these aren't routes, but more twists that I didn't see coming:

    The

    epilogue

in G-Senjou. Best part of the game.

And of course the master of trolls and not-quite-asspulls: Sharin no Kuni.

When Ririko appeared, I was literally shouting at my screen in disbelief.

  4. All right, time to reply to everyone! Since I don't want to make the post into a quote-fest, I'll just start from the top, beginning with melo4496.

Yes, I've read G-Senjou. It was my fourth VN and it's still one of my favorites. I have to say, though, that I actually slightly prefer Sharin no Kuni, as far as AkabeSoft games go.

The Muv-Luv series is on my backlist considering its high reputations, but since I've been busy with school recently, I haven't played VNs in a while.

Sirius, I know that feel. Kanjis were what originally made me give up on Japanese two years ago  I gave it a second try for VNs. xD

My first Visual Novel ever was Katawa Shoujo. I didn't actually know what a VN was at the time. I just heard good things about it and decided to give it a try.

Well, that's all. Thank you all for the warm welcome!

  5. Thanks everyone!

  6. Hi! I just made an account so I thought I'd post here to introduce myself.

I'm from Italy and my real name's Claudio, but since I don't like it much on the internet I tend to go by the corresponding English name Claus. (Also because he's one of my favorite characters in Mother 3.)

I speak Italian and English and I am making progress in learning Japanese, hoping to join the translating scene one day.

My favorite anime/LN/VNs are OreGairu, Grisaia no Kajitsu and Haruhi.

I look forward to being part of this community :D
