Has anyone heard of this VN? This fall anime season features the anime adaptation of this, and it really looks like quite a thing. As usual though the anime version seems to be pretty inferior to the visual novel, so I wanted to read it. I quickly looked it up on the internet but couldn't find anything, so does anyone know if there is an English patch available yet or if there is going to be one or maybe if there is a translation project going on right now?

I'm sorry if I disagree with others' interpretations of gender distinction, but the fact that the characters are pigeons sort of negates any fear that it's an otome to me. And even so, it's clearly more focused upon comedy than anything else, so that shouldn't be much of an issue unless you desire emotional attachment to pigeons. As the main post states:
Indeed, it's almost like killing two birds with one stone.
hehheheh
Heh, I said it seems to have those features, but I don't really know for sure. Also, I'm pretty sure they would only be marginal features, the main point still remaining the relationship between the player and one of the characters. I'm still not sure whether I could enjoy it or not, but I'll probably buy it anyway since it's not that expensive (only about 9 dollars) and give it a chance.
Anyway, I guess most of you guys think that being it an otome it would hardly be enjoyed by a straight male player?
-
You do play as a girl, yes.
Then what makes Hatoful Boyfriend a yaoi Visual Novel?
-
I would have played this were it not yaoi, the bird part I can kind of get over, and thats just barely, but yaoi isn't my thing. No offense to anyone who likes it
Yaoi? Do you not play the role of a girl in the game?
I don't mean this in an antagonistic way, but doesn't it seem sort of absurd to be concerned about it being an otome game when it's a game where you date pigeons? I would think that in particular would take precedence for how well you can get into it.
It's male pigeons, not just pigeons lol if they were to be female pigeons then I'm sure I would be able to grow some kind of emotional attachment towards some of the characters (not sexual attraction, that's for sure), but since they're male pigeons... The most I could feel would be a friendly-ish kind of attachment, which is not really the point of the game
-
Pretty sure they're pigeons the entire time. Wouldn't humanizing them defeat the point of making them pigeons in the first place?
I know that, but you do know they're actually guys D:
-
Do you love to date pigeons?
I wouldn't mind it if they humanized into girls and not boys

Has anyone played this VN? I saw it is gonna be available on Steam starting from August 21st, and I was thinking about purchasing it. But does it have any sense for a straight male to play an otome and reverse harem visual novel? I mean, being a straight male I would not feel anything of what one is supposed to feel when playing a dat sim towards any of the characters, yet the art looks so enjoyable and cute, it is just so appealing. Plus it seems to have some generic comedy\slife of lice features, which can be enjoyed by players of any gender. But does the fact that this visual novel's core is an otome, which makes it mainly targeted to girls, make it senseless for me to play it?

Hehe, not YET, you mean. But everyone has the potential to be one. Believe it or not, once, I was not a lolicon! *SHOCK*. I had no idea how incomplete I was at the time, and then that faithful day came when I met my first loli. I won't fill you in on the details, though, that's a secret.
Anyway, jokes aside, don't worry about it, lolicon is one of the most normal behaviors you'll find on Fuwa. (Psss, listen, I know of a certain someone who has a golden shower fetish here, lolicon sounds really appealing now huh?)
On that note, what is your favorite type? For a 2D girl I mean.
lolol well, I do have experience with lolis, but they never appealed to me. They can be annoying at times, even
sorry for that outrageous statement
A kind of loli I like is those who just act childish and kawaii, and add cute suffixes at the end of their sentences (Eg. Rika and Satoko from Higurashi). Not really into the "onii-chan, daisuki" kind of loli.
About my favourite type of 2D girl, I'm not even sure I have one. If I have one, it's not one the deres for sure. Tsunderes, yanderes, colderes, they can be funny and cute at times, but repeteadly they get annoying. I kinda used to like them back to the origins, but now I tend to avoid anything that is too highly stereotyped, and dere characters are among what makes an anime\manga\visual novel more stereotyped.
I do like megane though, which is not really about how they act, but how they look. Megane are often cute :3
In the end, I think my favourite kind of characters are probably those moe onee-chans who are like very mild and airhead, who do not even realize how freaking cute they are, and this only makes them even cuter :3 a perfect example is Moe Mizukoshi from Da Capo

Is she not irresistably moe and kawaii?

Welcome to FuwaForums !
Enjoy your stay !
Please read G-Senjou no Maou and Grisaia no kajitsu
Thanks I'll surely read Grisaia no Kajitsu, I don't know about the other one though
Welcome to Fuwa! Have Pegasus:
You've read Higurashi, I see, then I recommend strongly that you read Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
Hope you have fun and I'll see you around.
(PS: Everyone is a potential lolicon, so I'll just leave this here, on the hopes that you'll join our side.)
No, I haven't read Higurashi, I watched the anime. I'm planning on reading the sound novel though, as I know it shows many more story arcs that give a complete image of the whole story. And yes, I do wanna play Umineko, I've even downloaded it already
Sorry, I'm not really a lolicon lol
-
Welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy your time here~
Thanks you :3
Welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Have you read Umineko yet?
Have a moe:
Thanks! I have downloaded both Umineko and Umineko Chiru with the english patches. I'm not playing it yet because first I want to replace the english script files with those of the italian patch I downloaded
-
Sure thing

I believe he misunderstood. In any case, read the visual novel. You'll find more routes, scenes, and endings there.
Yeah, that's for sure. It's something I'd love to do, but at the moment there are other things I want to read\watch
-
Some of them are. From keys soundtracks, the ones from rewrite are so good. Especially "scene shifts there". I just love that one.
That is a visual novel I'd like to play someday
-
Non, silly Italiener. Franzose meant reading the Clannad Visual Novel where the anime adaptation was based on.
I suspicted that, but then he shouldn't have said re-read, because I've never read it before
-
Rewatching it is fine, but if Franzose here says read, you read.
Sure, what I watch is the screen, but what I'm actually doing is reading the subtitles
-
Welcome on the forum
Enjoy your stay
And re-read Clannad
Thanks I was planning on re-watching it
-
Benvenuto. Io non sono italiano. Have a repost.
Grazie
