My favorite VNs would be Fate/Stay Night, G-Senjou no Maou and Muv Luv Alternative.
Fate/Stay Night is probably the VN with the most original plot i've ever seen. So original that it was worth an anime that became more famous than the VN itself. The best part about Fate/Stay Night (besides the masterly narrated history) is that it's 3 stories in one. You have 3 completely different plots each time you start the VN. I had an amazing time playing this ( and a loooooonnngg time trying to get all dojos ) It's fun, it's good and it has amazing endings, so this is probably my favorite VN of all time.
G-Senjou no Maou has the best plot i've ever seen in my life. I dare to say that i has one of the best plots of all time in any media. The story is geniusly narrated in ways that i cannot express in words. I almost went into a catatonic state everytime a twist happened in the story. And you know what, i played the VN LOOKING for then. I was aware at the time that it has lots of plo twists, but even so, i was baffled every time. Best story ever, i think it deserves my second place.
Muv Luv Alternative is the most well written VN that exists. I strongly recommend to those who didn't played it to play Extra and Unlimited first. Only the you can truly appreciate this magnificent masterpiece. It builds the foundation (in a boring slice of life story, i have to admit....) to become one Super Ultra Mecha Epic with lots of action, and thecnology, and feelings, and girls, and military, and quantum physics madness, and mental problems, and true love, and death, and lots of death, and aliens, and tons of death, and A PLOT TWIST THAT WILL BLOW YOUR F&*#ING MIND !!!!!

It's purely aimed at a male audience xD.

Well i really hope someone will have the kind heart to translate the novels.
I'm actually quite eager to play them, i like everything Mecha-related (except Gurren Lagann episode 18 forward)

The translator who was working on Baldr Sky is different from the main Amaterasu translator, Ixreec. IIRC, the guy who was TLing Baldr Sky had some RL stuff come up and hasn't been around the scene since. You can consider that project permamently dead.
So there's no hope then? No open projects or even plans to translate the novels? If that's the case it will be really sad

Ok so, i've always wanted to read the series, but since i suck in japanese that is completely impossible to me. So i was wondering, are there any good souls planning to translate the VN's ? I know that Amaterasu was planning to translate them, but it's on their side projects tab since the beginning of the ages and i don't expect to be concluded anytime soon. I have (i think everyone has) high expectations for the novels. I mean, it has massive scores in VNDB and the reviews from the guys who played them say it's fantastic.
Soooooo...... any plans on that or any information regard that?

Actually you have to consider japanese culture in voice acting. Voice actors are like real celebrities there, we're talking about a country responsible for 60% of the animation content in the world, so voice acting is a really big deal there.
So the fact that interpreting an ero-scene can damage the reputation is not really true. (don't know exaclty how things work there, i'm not japanese, but i'm pretty shure i'm on the right tracks)

Yeah, i think what most pissed me off was the way Chris was getting away from Arietta. I mean, for god's sake she is his girlfriend, if he has a problem talk to her or visit her. Break up is not the only option you know.

Well if you don't mind gameplay then I recommend a Kamidori Alchemy Meister since it pretty much meets all your criteria. The protagonist is not a moron and actively engaged in romance with the heroine you choose, there are no bad ends either so you don't have to worry about that too.
I should mention though this VN has a lot of h-scenes, a little over 50 unlockable ones I believe. So be aware of that.
It's also very long. The first play through will take you well over 50 hours. The second play through if you choose to do so has a lot of extra stories in it and will take you much longer than the first play through did.

you said that you are playing Ever 17 right ? Tsugumi Komachi from that game is a fantastic character in my opinion, so unique like you described Haru, but better developed.

Yuki is an amazing character. She reminds me of Asami Yamazaki a character from the movie Audition (little less psychotic tought ¬¬)
Like i said, i like the smart characters.

I think that Maou is really the best character in the whole game. he was very interesting, brilliant, and outsmarted every person in the game. he reminds me of Johan Liebert from Monster.
Usami Haru is the most unique heroin, but to be honest I felt that they could've developed her character better.
Oh yes... Johan. I'm a HHUUUUUUUGE fan of Naoki Urasawa. I've read almost every manga he wrote. Monster is my second favorite manga by the way.
I agree that they could have developed Haru's BACKGROUND more, i agree on that. But in terms of personality, i've seen very few heroins so unique like her.

Well, in therms of Art the best are anyone in the Majikoi series.
I have yet to find better illustrations.
But in overall therms i would say.....
Saber's last one in Fate/Stay Night maybe.....
The art is pretty hot and there are huge feelings going on there, so I would choose that one i guess...

My favorite character is probably Maou. I have a tendency to like smart and manipulative characters.
But my favorite heroin is Haru, oh boy! She's one of a kind...
My favorite scene..... that's hard.....
I guess it's the true ending. It was so touching when "Close Your Eyes" began to play and Kyousuke made his "sacrifice". Then you see all the girls visiting him, still believing, even after his effort to push everyone away.
But my heart cracked when the daughter appeared...
It has to be one of the best endings out there.

I'm a suspect to talk about G-Senjou no Maou, it's my favorite VN ever.
From the beggining to the end this VN just screams "GENIUS" at my face. All the routes are very well written (even though the true route is the real deal). I found the heroins to be very simple except for Haru (gentle, sister, tsundere), but the way the chapters build around the characters is SOOOOO GOOOOD that you become more and more attached to them. And when a VN makes you forget that is all just fiction and makes you feel empaty for their characters, you know that is was a job well done.

Well, i personaly think that a Visual Novel is the best way to express any kind of story. Better than books, movies, series, animes, mangas, games, songs, or any other kind that i forgot.
You combine the best of those (writting detail of the books, images and sounds of anime and the interaction of games) and you have a visual novel.
The anime is pretty good though.
