Textractor is the best one out there right now. I use it in combination with Chiitrans as a parser for dictionary definitions and look up random words it doesn't hook properly online. Here's the git for it.

    https://github.com/Artikash/Textractor/releases

Thanks I got both to work, they are really usefull but yeah, Ive to look up basicly every kanji there is^^

I dont know if Im doing it right but, do I have to copy the phrase from textractor and paste it into chiitrans everytime I want to look up something ? Did I something wrong or shouldnt it take the text automaticly ?

EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out. Thanks again, it does really help alot. I started with "私のリアルは充実しすぎている" since it looks interessting and is free

Honestly, any Japanese reader will tell you to read whatever you find the most interesting. I wouldn't go jumping into a VN by Mareni, Masada, or Romeo right off the bat, but just pick something that will hold your interest and use a text hooker to help memorize vocab that'll pop up throughout your reading.

Can you recommend a good text hooker ? I just recently learned about them, but have no clue how they work and what to use

  3. It would be nice if the used kanji had the reading above them. I saw that sometimes used in Anime shows for kids. I should have added that I can read hiragana and katakana of course ^^

regarding that list, as far as I can see they are just normal vns right ? I thought more of a active learning, instead of just reading like a book. This way I dont have to look up everything I dont know, which would be every other word for me ^^

But I defently check the list out

  4. I just finished my last Class of Japanese in my University and got UNICERT level A2. Since I want to continue to learn japanese and improve my skills I was thinking "hey maybe there is a learning VN or something to help me here" since learning with playing should be a good method ^^

So Id appriciate it, if one of you guys know some games/vns that teach japanese. Since I do know some stuff, it doesnt have to be on a complete beginner level. Id love to learn some more Kanji (I know about 110), and some grammar.

PS: If you dont know what UNICERT A2 means, its basicly a certifact in Europe to classify the speaking abilities of a person. There are A1,2 B1,2 and C1,2. Meaning A - Beginner, B - business, C - native language.

  5. So, Im using this thread again instead of opening a new one, since the topic is practically the same ^^

Why ? Becuase, after reading some other VNs I finally found out what I REALLY wanted to read again, the one thing that I really liked about Edelweiss:

On the one Hand you have this funny group of friends, witch comedic relief everywhere - I want to laugh when I read a VN

Then you have this mystery surrounding the island and the magic there - I want exciting VN that makes me curious about the world

On the other Hand I want to be engaged with the characteres, I want the empathize with them, in short, I want to cry when they are miserable.

I know this is kind of vague but I havent read I VN that I liked as much as Edelsweiss, it was only my second one ever but still I was never as sad as back then when I finally finished a VN.

So to summerize, I want to laugh, to cry and to be curious. I hope you guys can help me out ^^

What came very close was Clannad but I only watched the anime version, so I dont count that ^^

Majikoi is going to be officially released... eventually. JAST has picked it up but I have no idea when they'll release it.
Out right now is an English patch which you can apply to the Japanese version of the game. The translation for the majority of it is... fine, but not good. A couple of routes were translated by a different individual, however, and those are much better. Miyako and the true route were translated by him, at least. No cut content as everything is translated.

The Devil on G-String is available on Steam as it has been officially localised. Howeve, the sex scenes were cut out (and some images cropped due to the aspect ratio?). Supposedly the 18+ version will be coming out some time in the future, but I haven't heard anything about that for quite a while.

Thats to bad. So Ive to wait a while for those games.

Any other suggestions ? They dont have to have a good male cast, I just wanted to add it if anyone knew some good ones. I look for a VN that makes me laugh, has a decent story and romance. I wouldnt mind any H-Scenes, or high Resolution since I cant play low res games on my 4k monitor in fullscreen (If I dont want eye cancer)

I don't believe Sorcery Jokers really offers a similar experience to Edelweiss' at any level besides there being a mystery.
It doesn't really have a male supporting cast, it doesn't have dedicated routes, and the romance is... well, it's present, I guess.

I'll recommend Majikoi for having the same sort of large fun cast Edelweiss had, and being a Comedy Romance mix. Instead of Magic/Alchemy, it's Martial Arts, though.

Little Busters! also fulfils the awesome male supporting cast request, and offers Comedy aplenty. The Romance is there, but the focus of Little Busters!'s routes is being emotional and making you cry, either of happiness, unhappiness, or bittersweetness. Instead of Magic/Alchemy it's... craziness, I guess.

D.C. ~Da Capo II~ actually kind of fulfils the requirements to the letter... I see you tried the third one, but in the series, I'd say the second one is best. It has the male supporting cast, the great comedy, and the magical elements hinted all throughout. I found it funnier, and also preferred the characters in it, or at least their interactions better. The first one is shorter, crazier, and lacks context or sense, at times.

These ones diverge a bit further from your recommendations, but I'll mention Lucid9 which is similar to Sorcery Jokers in some ways, and The Devil on the G-String.

Majikoi seems pretty interesting, but according to vndb it has only a english patch, is it good ?

I know Little Busters a little while now but never followed it really

I started to play DC III, but stalled it to watch the anime to get some background story. I finished the first (wich was VERY Dull), started the second and never came back to the series since the first one disappointed me a little.

Lucid9 seems pretty good too, I will certainly look into it. The Devil on the G-String has only a patch aswell, is it also good ?
I really dont like censored/cut contend.

Anyway thank you for your effort.

  8. Yeah Ive heard about Sorcery Jokers, maybe I give it a try.

I do have a VNDB Account actually, I just didnt know you could link it here.

What I also should mention, I really liked the male supporting cast in Edelweiss, they were funny and a good addition to the overall story. In most other VNs Ive read, there werent any males at all or they were the antagonists. How is Sorcery Jokers in that regard ?

  9. Like the Title says. I really liked Edelweiss and the story behind it. A mix of Comedy, Magic/Alchemy and Romance was pretty good and I havent found anything similar to it yet. I mostly read SoL and Romance VNs but would like to read something like Edelweiss again.

So does anyone know something similar to it ? I read the Fandisc too, so that doesnt count ^^

  10. I started to learn Japanese a while ago and doing now my third semester in it. And yes VNs were one of the reasons to start but there were others. Anyway, its not thaaat hard. Grammar is pretty "simple"and Hiragana and Katakana can be learned in one week. The biggest mountain to climb is Kanji, but yeah Ive no trick for that, two semesters and I still know about 60 or so.

  11. Yeah, youre all probably right, I should drop it for now. Problem is, I dont know what to read next, since Ive got a decent selection to chose from (I tend to buy a new vn before Ive finished the current ones ^^)

As for the vn beeing my main hobby. It isnt really, I enjoy playing regular video games and watching anime more than reading VNs sometimes. Since english isnt my first language I get tired pretty fast reading, so I take a while to finish a VN. As for now, I think Ive only finished 2 VNs total (with all routes), that was Edelweiss and Kindred spirits on the roof. Some I didnt bother going to routes for girls I didnt liked or some I just finished the true ending.

But yeah, I think Im going to drop Deardrops since the Genre isnt really mine and I cant enjoy it that much, since it has a pretty low res. and Ive a 4k monitor wich can be pretty anoying sometimes.

Thanks for the help anyway ^^

But hey, heres another question, what should I read next:

    - Fruit of Grisia
    - Dal Sagno
    - Da Capo 3 ( Ive started it a long time ago, watched the animes for 1 and 2, which were terreble tbh, and never came back)
    - Fureraba

  12. Im struggling right now to continue reading Deardrops. The problem is, I dont know quite why. I cant motivate myself somehow to go on. I stalled it over the summer and now Ive problems catching up with the story. Someway I want to go on and finish atleast one route (Im about half of the common route I think) but on the other hand I cant quite tell if I like it or not.

I simply cant decide to go on or start another vn instead. So I wanted to ask you guys, what do you do in such situations ? How do you motive yourself to go trough a dull phase of the story?

I'd recommend, from your list, Dal Segno. Beware that Dracu Riot is getting an official release soon, so if you want to enjoy it with quality, you should wait a little more.

From your list only, I don't think you'd enjoy Yume Miru Kusuri, as it is VERY focused on the drama, and the romance is pretty twisted in there. The same for schooldays, though I believe you already know that

Also, sometime very soon there will be a patch retranslating Konoosora, so again, if you want the full game experience, you could wait a little more while playing others.

Ok Ill wait for Dracu Riot for know, altough it was my favorit ^^

as for the other two. I dont have anything against Drama and Yumie Miru Kusuri should be very good as well as far as I heared.

    Deardrops has my vote.

Dude, where is your Signature Picture from ? I like that Artstyle a lot *.*

  14. Hey Guys,

so I played Konosora and fished Agehas route and Im currently doing Kotoris one. Unfortunally I dont really like hers so far (Im about 2/3 through)

    Spoiler

the night before the Morning Glory

And as I noticed some similarities with Agehas route I stalled it for now, because I already knew what was going to happen from Agehas route. As for now, Im not quite sure what to do next to be honest. Should I continue reading it or should I start a new Novel.

    So far I own:

    DaCapoIII

    DalSegno

    Deardrops

    Darcu-Riot

    NobleWorks

    Kotori Love ExP

    Princess Evangile w Happiness

    Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort

    Schooldays

    The New Generation

    WagamamaHighSpec

    YumeMirKusuri

I finished Edelweiss and Princess Evangile and read one Route from KiraKira. I freakin LOVED Edelweiss, I wish I could read it over again. PE was Good, but got pretty repetitive at the end (I hope w Happiness wont be as repetitive as the main game since it has the other characters). KiraKira had this fullscreen Textbox which bothered me alot so I stopped after completing one route.

So, If/After I finish Konosora, what should I read next, I cant really decied and I dont know which one of those above are the best, so I hope some of you guys can help me.

@M1rv3 I'm not going to TL it (it's filled with vanilla H-scenes - that's a NOPE!), and I don't know of anyone who plans to do that, so for now the answer is probably "No".

Ok to bad, fortunately Im going to start learing japanese this semster, maybe I can undestand somethings till then :P

So whats Sweet Love about ? Just Eye-Candy and Fan-service or has it a prober plot ? And what exaclty do you mean with Vanilla H-Scenes and why is that bad ? ^^

    My first recommendations. Yay~

    All recommendations are bolded

You read Kirakira so I'm gonna recommend Deardrops which is like its older more mature sister. You also read Edelweiss , which is made from the same company (Overdrive).

While not fully romance, Dengeki Stryker is a great read if you don't take it too seriously and a few of the routes are romance focused.

You liked Clannad as well so check out other Key VN's, they are generally similar in nature.  Rewrite and Little Busters are getting new releases so I would wait for those.

Most of the VN's you read are slice of life heavy, and Clannad/Kirakira have some depressing routes.

    Check out

ef - a fairy tale of two (realistic romance, depressing routes, shorter than kirakira and clannad)

Majikoi (not really depressing, except maybe wanko's route. one of the best casts I have ever seen and very good slice of life . Lots of "plot". )

My Girlfriend is the President (Hilarious, some of the best slice of life I've played, chock full of every possible reference and trope you can think of)

Grisaia Series (My favorite . Starts of with slice of life and then gets very intense. Some parts are dark and can be depressing. It was here i discovered my inner masochism)

No where near as good as the above titles,

Nekopara (if you want to look at really cute things, just a feel happy short VN)

The Sagara Family (Not great VN, somewhat decent Slice of life but enough "plot" to last you a few years)

If you really like slice of life and you don't mind anime

    Check out

Cross Game (some of the best slice of life I've ever seen)

Anohana (something I recommend to most people who like Clannad)

    Happy Reading!

Wow Thanks a lot, I didnt expected so many recommandations on once ^^

Ill definatly check out all of them, Deardrops is also on my list, but somehow I didnt got time to read it.

I also stumbled upon Hoshizora no Memoria, can someone tell how it is ? I like the Art-Style and the Plot seems interessting too

@Zacbuscus All right, I added you to the shared QC conversation.

And we also have another volunteer who joined to work on Kotori's route, so now we should have enough people. ^^

@raelon Restoration patch was released a long time ago, but it only added the H-scenes and contained a few minimal edits. Now we are working on re-translating the whole thing pretty much from scratch, since MoeNovel's """translation""" was mostly unsalvageable.

So its not me ? ^^ English isnt my native language, but Im pretty good at reading and understanding stuff. But when the common Route ended and Agehas route started, I had the feeling that something was odd. Some Parts didnt made any sense, like

when Ageha didnt show up at the Secret Base anymore and that part with the other clubs. I had the feeling that there was some parts missing or bad translation, now Im very certain ^^

  18. 1 hour ago, HARKI said:

Please keep it to the Steam guide's comment section. This translation team isn't in any way affiliated with me or any other Konosora's guides currently on Steam.

yeah I thought so after I read through some Pages. Anyway, it seemed like a litte bug. The CG came after some text, but the text itself was still censored, weird.

  19. 8 hours ago, ittaku said:

To Heart 2 meets all those criteria :)

Hmm, Im not a big fan of "Textbox covering whole screen". It messes the cg up imo. Ive read the reviews about the anime and it seems that it isnt that good ^^ (the anime of course)

Oh and, should i reed the first To Heart too, or arent they connected ?
