This was quite an exercise. I enjoyed it. I feel like I even learned these answers as I was thinking about them.

  2. Welcome to the forums, so whats your favorite anime/VN genre???

I tend to look for different stuff depending on the type of media it is.

With anime I really like action with girl characters who are competent and badass (Shana and Nanoha both being good examples of this). I find it really hard to enjoy slice of life anime unless it's either done superbly well (like Gj-bu or Yuru Yuri) or has some sort of hook or fantastical element (Like Muromi).

With VN's it's much harder to say, since I've not played a whole lot of them. I think usually there will be at least one character I'm really into who I want to court.

Manga needs to have something unique or personally interesting to me like Ichinensei ni Nacchattara, Yotsuba and Watamote.

  3. Things I enjoy:

    Anime

    Clarification: Not all anime.

I like modern anime. I like anime past about 2004, with very few exceptions, and even stuff that I like that was created before that comes with an asterisk. For example Lain is a show I am intrigued by. I won't go so far as to say I like it, but it's certainly interesting.

My favorite two are Shana and Nanoha (you can also find my MAL right here.)

    Video Games

Not shooters. DEFINITELY NOT MILITARY SHOOTERS.

I actually like third person action games but not a whole lot of those are made. If more games were made like the recently released DmC I would love to play them, especially if they had a more eastern aesthetic since realistic western aesthetics are crap.

I actually don't like JRPG's or SRPG's but I do play the ones NISA and Aksys's release, mostly for the story the aesthetics and humor, with the gameplay being more of a means of delivery then a thing I actually enjoy.

    My experience with Eroges:

I have so far enjoyed every eroge (or visual novel or what have you) that I have played, but they have not been many in number. I tend to get far to emotionally attached to the character who's route I wind up on for about a week after I finish the game and then I get over it.

The two classic style ones I played were:

Katawa Shoujo (this being my first). And I wound up (naturally, without any guides) on the Hanako route. I found it to be well written and it seemed pretty neat.

Little Busters: Again, no guide, I wound up with Kud. THAT. Was experience. A hard but rewarding one.

    Non-Classic Style:

Kamidori Alchemy Meister: This is an SRPG, mixed with eroge, and it was really enjoyable actually. I even somewhat enjoyed the gameplay of it and I wound up with Emilita.

How I wound up here/Why I am here?

There is actually an eroge called Cage Sourire that caught my eye quite a while ago. I am currently considering trying to do something to get it translated. Though this is not an interest thread (if I get really serious about it I will create one). As far as I know it does not have any sort of translation project going on, or any buzz talking about it, and it seems to be quite an obscure game.

To be honest, I don't even know that much about it. I think the art is really adorable, I like the cafe setting, and I would like to see where that goes. It's largely curiosity pulling me toward it.

About the only skill I have that would be any sort of useful in translating novels is writing. I can't read Japanese and I wouldn't have any sort of idea where to even begin coding/encoding/ect.

So there you have it. A little about me, and a little about what sparked my interest in this place.

  4. In terms of the internet? I'm not ashamed of anything, I don't dislike my self for liking anything, I don't believe in the concept of "Guilty Pleasures" other then to fool your self into thinking your watching something "ironically" (you're not, if you didn't like it you just wouldn't watch it.)

In terms of real world stuff? Well I'm a hikkimori so I don't deal with that anyway.
