On the other hand... at least it's consistent.
<3 the fact that no other people are drawn in to the cg sometimes.

Chrono Cross, Sword Art Online & Accel World
Those three are the only ones I can get out of my head at the moment. Some have been good, but since I've lost my most faith in anime, I'll go with those. (SAO novel ftw! )

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll be sure to check it out.

Hey there!
How many people go there? It might totally be country bias, but I thought our Japan Expo in France was the biggest. (Unless France is too South ^^")
It sure must be convenient to have most people actually know English fairly well. People that are reticent to reading english books or even watching english-subbed shows can be a pain sometimes.

The scripts are in Shift-JIS which doesn't support umlauts afaik.

Welcome to the forums fellow Finn. Now I know there are at least two people here who have touched a loli a VN.

That is the smallest wall I have ever seen.

hey bflorry
is anime big over there? do many ppl in finland know english? is there a VN translation community in your native language?
-
i think so, i think VNR has its strengths and weaknesses. the main weakness is that u need to install the thing. the 2nd weakness is that u have to have internet at the beginning to download the subtitles (but not after uve done it once(?))
but I like VNR because you can translate so much faster than doing it on notepad++, that's one of the main draws for me.

Hiya you all! I'm BFlorry and I'm a (relatively) long time Japanholic from Finland. (may I assume the first on these forums?) I was almost the kind of average animeguy you'd see every day about 7 years ago, except that I didn't watch the overly popular shounen ones. That was before I started reading shitloads of manga. Nowadays, I basically read my weekly manga and when I get into it, read an occasional VN. My first VN was probably Private Nurse, which I just picked up just for shits and giggles. It ended out quite working concept for reading and I got hooked into it. After that, I've read only just a couple of VNs:
True Love 98 (not sure if counted as VN though),
Sharin no Kuni: Himawara no Shoujo,
Katawa Shoujo,
Ecchi na Bunny-san wa Kirai
That's quite the pathetic amount for someone who loves this genre, but one does not have the time for all, no? Well, I'm going to pick up some recommended ones (DC, Snow Sakura, Yume miru kusuri, Planetaria, Chaos;Head) so there's plenty to read.
Here's my lists if anyone is interested. (The anime one is lacking a lot, 'cause I can't remember my 10 years worth of anime.)

I'm so moved, I'd help you in the actual translating if I knew any Finnish. Hope someone helps you with the mumbo jumbo hacking and editing thingy.

I'm really just learning things, but I'd like to try to translate a bit of Sharin no Kuni to Finnish (my native tongue). The only problems I think that will arrive are probably with the "Ä" and "Ö" letters. I'd like to translate straight from the English patch, so that next to none Japanese would be involved.
I tried to decompress the patch.xp3 with isani's tools, then translate the 01.ks -file and then repack with isani's tools again. The game opens up fine, but when pressing start, a popup error comes up with the headline "Information" and abstract letters. I've played Sharin no Kuni just fine a day ago, so the game itself should have no problems. Did I do something wrong? If required, I'll post the ks-file I edited.
Please help me, I'd like to get my girlfriend read this piece ASAP, as her English skills are quite nonexistent. :)/>
EDIT: I found out about VNreader, should I try using that rather than going with the whole Kirikiri unwrap-wrap things?

Thanks. dfallengod is helping me with the case at the moment, so I hope that something good will come out. ^^ (Btw, if you want to, I'd like to have some help in translating the game from English to Finnish.)
