maybe without a romance path, but the two main heroines from witch on the holy night fit your requirements quite well, generally heroines from the Nasuverse, especially from Fate and Tsuki will fit the description. They won't always succeed, unfortunately xD (fate and tsuki has romance)

As for childhood friends, they can be, I meant that in such a case the relationship is already very developed. It was more about the newly met heroines, where you can actually see progress in their relationship.

Exclude childhood friends

I prefer a longer approach, where you can see the progress of the relationship.
