A small Reality Check

I'm pretty sure the majority of NK's population consists of the oppressed, not the oppressors, guys. :/

As for the article, nothing really surprising except that it wasn't quite as anti-otaku as a lot of these articles are, and the part about sexualizing real little girls, which I didn't know about and is terrible.

So why can't people accept that it is the same for sexual matters?  I mean, not allowing real porn or stuff that verges on it both makes sense and is morally correct.  However, it is fundamentally ridiculous to think that abuse of a fictional character will somehow make someone that doesn't already have that tendency go that way...

Japan sure has their fair share of wtfs

I'm certainly in favor of pushing out the loli art style but it won't change in Japan unless it comes from within the country. There isn't a quick fix though.

I Swear you all missed what i said earlier japan allows the art style as long as a age is not tagged too it as its a outlet for people who have them urges/tendencies so they dont actually do it to a person

thats why  you find hentai where the girl looks 12 but is described as 18

I find the more a more mature art style more appealing it doesn't really come down to the theoretical age of the character but how they look.

Say for example something like bible black or divi dead style characters (just two titles off the top of my head) is preferable to say something where the character features look too young say like emelita from kamidori. However that really pales in comparison to the depictions in some manga out there.

Makes me feel old when I think about how I much preferred the art style of days gone by.

Meh... I remember when I was a prude.  I probably would have carelessly said the same things as some of the people in the article then.  Fortunately, more than five years of exposure to VNs has scourged all forms of conventional prudishness from my system.  At the same time, I can understand logically why a lot of Westerners fail to comprehend the concept behind otaku loliconism.  First you have to be able to grasp that, regardless of what you might want to believe, people always have some sort of fetish buried in their subconscious.  Second, you have to understand that fetishes can never be completely suppressed and trying to do so completely results in excessive stress and, at times, 'breaking' and actually indulging that fetish irl.  Third, you have to understand the purpose 2D H-scenes serve.  It isn't just fap material, it is stress relief.  To be blunt, it is extremely stressful to have no outlet for your hidden fetishes, and I couldn't believe how much the frequency of my migraines went down after I discovered and acknowledged my fetishes.  I used to get them weekly, now I'm unfortunate if I get one once every month.

However, people with blurry ideas of the line between reality and fiction shouldn't even play eroge.  I know that sounds... contradictory.  However, people who can't make that distinction, even if it is only in their own heads, are those who would be dangerous regardless (real actions too easily influenced by fictional material).  They are the type who see someone firing a gun at people on TV and think it is real and acceptable to do so.

Edit:  Basically, I subscribe to the 'blowing off steam' school of fiction philosophy.

Are you citing common sense or something else when you say this? I don't personally mind porn or 2d lewd stuff, but as long as it doesn't hurt people unnecessarily (counting the so-called 'butt-hurt' --if you'll excuse the expression-- that most of the world seems to experience over the 2d topic) I don't see why it should be an issue (though actually I do, given the vagueness of that statement, but the point is that it's a simple thing for me to answer for myself). The same goes for pretty much everything. People can have their things, I guess. I'm more than happy to look the other way when my roommates have their things that bother me and keep quiet when they go into a tizzy about how Japan is fundamentally twisted because who cares what they think? I mean, it matters because they can vote and effect the world in small ways, but I would be hard-pressed to care about the puny thoughts that go through their sickeningly one-way minds. Though how can I claim to be any different?

I've read your entire post a couple of times, and honestly I am a bit lost with what you are arguing. I don't understand what you disagree with (if you're even disagreeing with me)? So I will just clarify what I said and answer your question.

Are you citing common sense or something else when you say this?

Mostly I was citing Freud's critiques of repression in civilized society and how repressing urges without having an outlet will just psychologically screw you up. Repressing desires with no healthy outlet is only ignoring the problem, not solving it. The best way to maintain civilized society is to allow people the freedom to express their sexuality and inherit violence in ways that don't harm others. That way the individual gets satisfied and the group doesn't get injured.

Basically I'm in agreement with what Clephas said above me, Hentai is a sexual outlet that harms nobody.

Ooookay..... Had no idea they had that Junior Idol thing going on in Japan.

As a hardcore lolicon myself even I think that is going too far... It's just plain child abuse forcing them to perform when they don't even know what they are doing.

At the same time it makes me wonder why some are so focused on banning loli material, which are essentially pictures, when the real crime pertaining to real children is continuing unchallenged. Or perhaps they are as uninformed as I am seeing that I have only just heard of this.

the ban on the junior idol videos doesn't go in to effect till later this year i believe so they technically still have time to get rid of / hide them or what ever. so stores will be selling them off as fast and cheap as possible to recoup their investment before the ban goes in to effect. on the same note the people who collect this things will be buying them just as fast to get them while they can before the ban makes it impossible to buy them legally. while yes i believe these videos constitutes soft-core cp i also understand that outright criminalizing a product will not make it disappear instead they will take it underground and sell and trade them among themselves illegally and possibly start making them on their own to do the same after all how rare are DVD burners and blank DVDs now a days.

So, when Ukraine Held the Euro, and knowing that at that time, there was litterally BROTHELS few kilometers from the major stadiums, this is normal, but when its about japanese art culture, the mighty and pure americans have to ban them and educate them?

This is utterly stupid, utterly stupid.
