KATAWA SHOUJO-esque VNs? Help im new :3

Recommended Posts

My first ever VN was Go Go Nippon, which got me hungry for more VNs, especially Eroges (I think that's the term, I'm new). I played Katawa Shoujo and it was literally the best thing in my life ever, and I was wondering if anybody new of any more VNs like Katawa Shoujo. Preferably in English. I loved the story, I loved how I could choose between girls, which I believe is common in dating sims, but I'm not sure yet. I bought If My Heart Had Wings off of steam but it's horribly censored and the engrish is bad. I tried to install the patch, didn't work, I torrented the game and tried to patch that, and finally, I downloaded a "prepatched version" of the game off of a Russian site, but even then I could somehow load my old saves from the steam version (which is uninstalled), leading me to believe that somehow it didn't work? I mean, every time I think I've patched it, the gallery works just fine, and upon entering Flying Fish Manor the girl who everyone else freaks out about being naked is still fully clothed. So I don't know what to do. Anyways, this ended up being a desperate plea to russanon, but back to the initial topic:

TL;DR, Something like Katawa Shoujo :) If that's possible? I want a dating sim with deep, unique, characters and dirty scenes :) Good story would be appreciated too.

Thanks for the help people! I'm really new here.

A Drug That Makes You Dream has really interesting heroines to pick from, and each of the routes are quite fulfilling and interesting. Also, each route has several erotic scenes spread through out. This seems to fit the bill. I also personally recommend this VN as it was one of my first and got me into visual novels.

That said, if you want a story focused on sick/hospitalized people, Narcissu is a great read. Be warned though, Narcissu is really really sad and has no choices or sex scenes.

The Narcissu stuff is very good, especially if you like Utsuge.  Yume Miru Kusuri was also my gateway drug into the VN scene (pretty ironic, huh?).  Stay away from Nekoko's route if you're looking for genuine story, but if you like dirty sex scenes that would be a good choice.  Kirimiya's route is also pretty dirty, but there's a really good story to match it.

I personally liked Kana ~Imouto~.  One of the heroines is in the hospital a vast majority of the time.  Really good story.

Then there's the obligatory G-Senjou no Maou mention, because it's just that good.

Katawa Shoujo is not a dating sim. A dating sim is a game where you raise the protagonists stats (the sim part) with the goal being wooing certain girls (the dating part.)

puhh think theres a vn with the protag who got his arm aputated, dunno the title at this moment, but looking it up for you

Are you talking about Brass Restoration? The main character is a drummer who loses his arm in a train accident. I've only read a couple routes but I thought it was pretty good. It does has some similarities to Katawa Shoujo with the main character having to come to grips with his new disability. It's all ages though, so it might not be quite what you're looking for.

Wow thank you for all the suggestions! g senjou no maou, A Drug That Makes You Dream, Sharin no Kuni, Grisaia no Kajitsu, all sound like ones I would be interested in :) How do I get these? Do I have to buy them or can I download them right from the site like with Katawa Shoujo? I torrented IMHHW after buying it from steam, but I ended up getting some malware that was annoying to get rid of. Any advice?
Thanks! :D

Also, what is utsuge and nakige?

Most VNs aren't free so you'll have to buy them or torrent them. Most of those we have here on Fuwa, for example Sharin no Kuni. https://fuwanovel.net/novels/sharin-no-kuni-himawari-no-shoujo

The ones that we don't have because we don't host licensed VNs can almost always be found on [no linking or mentioning torrent sites]

"Nakige" means "crying game", and is basically a VN that gets pretty sad at some point (not to be confused with "nukige" which is when a VN has more porn than story) while "utsuge" is when the entire VN is depressing, pretty much from start to finish.

Here's a lexicon if you want to know more: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/3892-visual-novel-lexicon/

I think something in the lines of having a protag that is not completely healthy in the head. Plus having focus on the heroines is what you'd want then. Katakawa is a bit special because it has the funky setting and the protag that find meaning in his new disease and new life.

Grisaia no kajitsu comes to mind, Yume miru kuritsu as well. You also got Sharin no Kuni and G-senjou. But those latter  two are more focused on the story imo. Rather than the life of the protag and the people in the story. Don't get me wrong though. They got plenty of slice of life like stuff.
