Flutterz
I guess this is kind of similar to the "Indirect Kiss" topic. Has anyone ever heard of a White Christmas outside of VNs/anime/etc.? I was thinking about this recently because in both of the places I've lived Christmas always had snow, and plenty of it. And yet right now it's +10 here, and all of the snow we had (which wasn't much in the first place) has already melted, so this is my first non-white Christmas. Darklord Rooke
Christmas usually means "blazing heat" and "lots of seafood" in Ozzie-land. Monmon
Heizei_koukousei
I think of Christmas as black, so few daylight hours I cant even tell what the weather is like because its always pitch black outside

Considering Bing Crosby's version of that song sold like hundreds of millions of copies, I'd wager you're right

Last year, even Texas got snow here in the USA (veeery unusual) We get snow where I'm from every year, though this year's Christmas Eve it is raining. Apparently, it's supposed to turn to snow tomorrow though. There not being snow in Christmas is odd, doesn't feel like December when I look out the window. Satsuki
I actually never heard the term "White Christmas" before, even in A/M/VN. And it's hot like hell here, so a full-of-snow-Christmas is just a dream~~
Flutterz
I guess it'd make sense that it's more widely known is places where snow can happen on Christmas but not necessarily. There's not much reason for people to talk about it if your Christmas always has snow or never does.

There's not much reason for people to talk about it if your Christmas always has snow or never does. We do get delayed snow fall some years, though we still refer to it as a white Christmas, especially if it happens snow right before Christmas day. So I'm familiar with the term. I'm from Michigan btw, state of inconsistent weather.
Katatsumuri
I'm having a white christmas right now, and have always heard the expression "vit jul" (White christmas, in swedish), so... Â And besides, it all depends on where you live, I suppose...
Zakamutt
I've had the whole slowly falling white snow shebang once or twice in my life on Christmas, but atm im not sure if theres even snow on the ground...
Nayleen
Used to have it, now we don't anymore. And it was like 15°C outside again, last year we even had as much as 20.
sirjabberwock
It's rare for us to get a White Christmas in this particular region of the US. Meanwhile, just North, I'm sure Boston's covered in snow.  I have heard the term on numerous occasions, though.
SieghartXx
I've never seen real snow in my entire life at the moment we're in Summer, but we don't get snow even in the coldest days of winter. (TV and stuff doesn't count). Unrelated (or not?) Merry Christmas!

Living in New York City Christmas's are cold, but snow is a bit unlikely. Usually we only get 2 or 3 snow storms a year. So for one of those storms to happen during Christmas would be kind of romantic.
Stray Cat
Yeah, as with all the other U.S. people, it's kind of a gamble whether or not you'll have snow each year.  So the term "White Christmas" means a year you have snow.  We use "Green Christmas" to mean no snow.  Right now however, I'm with Ceris, torrential rain and thunderstorms.
CLuBLioN
It's raining like crazy here in my Country. I wanted white Christmas because it has a nice atmosphere but yeah there is a saying like that in my country because we get snow on Christmas like every 2 years only XD
Rose
Had my first white christmas, it's just so beautiful compared to my blazing hot hellish christmas in Brazil.

Lambda
White Christmas is also a movie. It's a pretty common term outside of anime/manga, at least I thought it was... Everyone also speculates about whether it's going to be a white Christmas, or mutter that it's gonna be a white Christmas, or this winter sigh with relief because no snow! Green Christmas! ...Yeah, according to the weather network there won't really be snow in my area. Less than 1cm where I'm going. Even less where I live. This will be the first green Christmas I can actually remember... and one of the few my mom can remember since she came to Canada twenty-five years ago! ...I don't even live that far North... Ram_Ram_A
Try living in southern Arizona. Got snow of day in February for about a couple of hours before it melted. That was two years ago. Before that, it hadn't snowed for 15 years.
Ceris
Well, nearly 3:30AM here and we have a very light layer of snow here, not enough to call it a "White Christmas" yet, but I guess if it keeps snowing, it does classify as it.
