Confession: For as long as I can remember, mostly at night, my right ear will randomly turn bright red, while my left ear looks perfectly normal. If I touch them, the left one is my normal body temperature or even a bit cooler, but the right one is way hot, like my right ear has a fever or something. It's happening right now. I have no idea why.

do you sleep on your right side? If so, the extra blood gathering there would warm it and turn it red. Besides that all you can do is go to a doctor probably

That's a condition called Tinnitus. Most people in the world have it

Spoiler

Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) is noise originating in the ear rather than in the environment. It is a symptom and not a specific disease. Tinnitus is very common—10 to 15% of people experience it to some degree.

The noise heard by people with tinnitus may be a buzzing, ringing, roaring, whistling, or hissing sound and is often associated with hearing loss. Some people hear more complex sounds that may be different at different times. These sounds are more noticeable in a quiet environment and when people are not concentrating on something else. Thus, tinnitus tends to be most disturbing to people when they are trying to sleep. However, the experience of tinnitus is highly individual. Some people are very disturbed by their symptoms, whereas others find them quite bearable.

Subjective tinnitus is by far the most common type. It is caused by abnormal activity in the part of the brain responsible for processing sound (auditory cortex). Doctors do not fully understand how this abnormal activity develops.

Objective tinnitus is much less common. It represents actual noise created by structures near the ear. Other people can sometimes hear the sounds of objective tinnitus if they listen closely.

Confession: I'm deaf in one of my ears ;-;

I had an oddly entertaining night yesterday. I had an illegal stream of a live WWE event on one tab, a live reaction to said event on other, and a Hentai Gaming stream on a third one. The highlights were either me watching Rinne from Euphoria's Bad End H scene with reactions to wrestling in the background or me playing Rose Guns Days music during the World Title match.

I'm *probably* gonna bail from my Elementary JP 2 class, none of my peeps from my 1st class decided to move on, and this main sensei is the upper middle aged stern strict lostthepassionyearsago type, the class I'm in is full of elitist try hards who eagerly raise their hands like dogs upon every beckoning whenever we're going over worksheets because participation is a whopping 30% of the grade (ie. vs the final's 12.5% wtff), and I'm already at 18 units + part time working newlypromotedtosupervisorhihi, and frankly my passion for learning da weebs is just not there anymore :<

I made the mistake of buying a psn code on Amazon to prepare for Digimon World Next Order this midnight. For some reason it's stuck on pending verification and I have no idea whether it is due to my bank or if it is a problem at Amazon. The fuckers don't even let you cancel a pending order so I can't just get my lazy ass to Walmart to buy a code.

A language will be amazing help for anything later on. Stick to it, for your own personal development, if not for playing all the porn games.

So yeah, I just got an invitation letter to join Phi Theta Kappa, which I'm both excited and anxious to join. I see it as a good opportunity for growth, but I'm not sure how big of a step that's gonna be for me and how well I'll be able to cope with it. I have made up my mind and I will definitely take advantage of that opportunity, but I'm still nervous as hell.

Woow, CONGRATS! Amazing! :D

I'm in the NEHS at my school (National English Honor Society) at my school, so I know how that feels like. It's definitely a worthwhile experience!

Sucks to hear that your classmates are ruining the experience for you. Im friends with a girl who was going to be a Japanese major, but then switched majors because the other people studying Japanese in her year where mega weebs. The difference though, is that this girl skipped to the highest level Japanese classes after her first semester because she learned a lot through watching J-dramas in highschool. At first I thought that was crazy, but because she is Chinese she simply watched with Chinese and Japanese subtitles and learned the words while comparing them to the meanings of Chinese characters.

My personal advice: If there is a good study abroad opportunity available to you, stick through the classes. If not, then dropping might be the right thing. By going to the county you can ditch your fellow weebs/foreigners and hang around Japanese people which is pretty fun. Also imo, the best language learning happens while abroad in your target country, not in the classroom. Just my 2 cents.

Aha, gz bruddah :D

PTK's what you make of it. Now cough up da dough, get your made in china PTK badge, attend your induction ceremony, participate in weekly meetings and volunteer events, build your network, keep an eye out for scholarships, and lastly aim for a leadership position sometime.

I probably did at least 3 of the above so far. I think.

Confession: I just learned today that I will not be able to afford studying at a top-level university in the UK, and most likely Canada as well. It hits hard- I always assumed my parents would be able to pull through since thanks to them I've always lived an extremely comfortable life. Looking into other options I hadn't considered before, now. Considering to apply to NUS (Nat. Uni. of Singapore), I have a sufficient ACT score for it but will have to take SAT Subject Tests and excel at them; the Singaporean government apparently has this amazing subsidy that takes care of more than half the price of tuition. I'll need to work for three years after graduation in Singapore if that happens, though. Also looked up life in Singapore and apparently it has very stringent rules for the sake of public order and policies for everything (there's a famous chewing gum ban). Anyone with experience/opinions on that (and Singaporean life overall)? Apparently a big majority is also religious... :/

Alternatively, this means that I will have to finally get my ass working and struggling for my dream of studying astrophysics at a good university in a good country. I'll really have to boost my GPA and everything, and to top that, I'll really need all exam qualifications I can get (APs, SAT Subject Tests) and get some good extracurricular activities to boot.

It's settled in a couple years too late, but I'm starting to feel the worst bout of college entrance anxiety yet.

I want Astrophysics as my major (or failing that, Literature), which instantly eliminates 95% of colleges since very few places offer astrophysics as a major (NUS doesn't, you apparently need to be a Honors student to specialize in astrophysics there...).

To make up for abandoning my Elementary Japanese 2 class I'm pursuing another for-funzies-wishlist class of mine:

Piano :Chocola:

It's something I've always wanted to learn but never bothered for whatever reason.

And I learned sooo much just in the first 2 hours today. Everything from proper posture & hand placement/techniques to all the technoterminolobabbles with the middle Cs and treble/bass clefs and how to read them music sheets staff time signature whole quarter half notes/rests etc etc

The first weeb piano thing i wanna eventually one day self study on the side once I start getting into the groove of things will be Rewrite's Journey theme :wafuu:

Nice. I started the electric guitar 3 years ago with a similar intent (playing the rocks songs and such I used to love then), but it went nowhere (as it often does with me and things that require hard work and dedication). Hope you come to a level enough to play these things you love.

I found my balls, or at least parts of them. Now the next problem arises with messaging matches. I have no idea what I'm doing, it's like learning to ride a bike, except with a lot more anxiety and awkwardness.
