Added 4 more Neon Tetras to my Tropical Tank.

images-2-500x500.jpeg

(that picture is a stock image)

Did a water test beforehand, ph and other levels were perfect.

The 4 new ones are a tad smaller then the 6 I had in there already (new ones are either younger, or the 6 existing ones have grown somewhat due to being in a bigger tank with far less fish then at the pet store).

They assimilated pretty well. Until I turned the lights on....

The 6 existing fish know it's feeding time when I turn the lights on (they basically zip to the top of the water), but the 4 new fish didn't know what was happening (so they hid in a remote corner of the tank).

So I feed them more then I usually do, and eventually the 4 new fish catch on. Some of them dogfight with the existing fish, but I can't blame them, and it's harmless.

They've calmed down now, and their stripes are bright (if their stripes are faded, they are stressed).

Hope it works out for you. I'm still under strong impression my gaming habits can only be controlled through (relative) abstinence. The only non-VN game I'm allowing myself nowadays is one of those browser/mobile idle MMOs. It's pretty great for my predicament as there's simply not that much to do there beyond a fixed, daily routine and you are rewarded for consistency and planning rather than sheer time investment. And the stream of rewards and possibility of interacting with guildmates are still decent enough. At least it's enough most of the time - my RL friend recently ressurected the WoW account we shared in the past and even though I still really like that game, I felt little temptation to join in, as I know I'd just burn tons of time and end up with huge hangover, while the thing I play now is just way more manageable and guilt-free.

In general, I find my relapses into gaming rarer and less severe nowadays, but that's pretty much only through abstinence. I wouldn't trust any of it just on my willpower or discipline, as I have none. :P

Hey, remember how I said I had a good method for coping with my MMO addiction? Turns out I was lying to myself. I've allowed myself to become a complete wreck since I started playing Runescape, and I delved even further into madness with Android gaming. :notlikemiya: I thought I could manage my addictive tendencies with proper awareness, but I failed miserably (those daily login incentives get me every time).

Just thought I'd let you know in case you had any lingering thoughts of going back. It's not worth it.

Hah, well, I got into that hellhole (android games) a few times since writing that post. I pretty much always try out those low-maintenance ones and love the daily reward routine (that one I'm playing consistently is much less heavy on that). Of course, even two convenient online games together are way too time consuming with how my schedule usually looks. On the other hand, it's still hard for me to not check out new ones when I feel particularly tired or dejected and want to distract myself - I simply get rid of them as soon as I start feeling I can do something better with my time (usually after a 3-5 days of playing them casually, sometimes including some small in-app purchases).

Didn't even touch "real" MMOs though, or any games in "forbidden" genres (sandbox/strategy/grindy RPGs) - I know myself well enough to not even consider it. I think I tried playing a bit of Medieval: Total War (the first one) early this year, or around December? Just from nostalgia. Got rid of it after two days, with a pretty major hangover left from the experience. Plus some mechanics in it are really messed up, maintaining a large empire is a nightmare... :P If these games are controllable, it's definitely not in my case and I can hardly imagine any mental techniques changing that, so I'm barely even tempted at this point. Even if stumbling upon Warhammer: Total War sale on Steam makes me sweat a bit, I was never close to actually falling back into this pit of misery. :>

Seriously, those games are an even bigger headache than the PC variants. I was playing those games up until I saw my therapist, and it wasn't until our session was over that I realized how badly I needed to get away from them. I've been off my sleep schedule for about a week now, and I've even put on an entire 6 pounds from overeating and lack of exercise. It was a miserable ordeal, but I just could not convince myself to quit.

Well, that's changing today. I've already deleted the app from my phone, and even took it a step further by deleting my entire account (so that I'm not tempted to go back). I'm also reaching out to a prominent youtuber for Runescape to host a giveaway for both my main and ironman accounts (yeah, I actually made two accounts on a p2w game, and no, it was not cheap).

Well, they are designed exactly to capitalize on people's addictive tendencies, so they're literally the worst on that front. Thankfully, I was always way more conservative with my money than I was with my time and live priorities, so the worst I ever did with those was spending like $120 over 4-5 months. :P Usually, you can spend unlimited money in these games, but unless they're particularly scummy (hello there, Japanese gatcha games and their clones ^^), there are clear lines between where it makes sense to spend money and what is just pure excess. In the game I was talking about (the one I explicitly allow myself to play), Shakes&Fidget, there are two things that are worth buying with premium currency and they cost ~$12 a month. This includes money from my mobile internet, which is pretty much worthless to me (the only thing I use is the bonus data transfer and I have to add money to my account every 4 months for it to not expire). The game also takes up to an hour and a half to manage daily (with no need to pay attention for a longer time at any point) and while there are definitely people that spend insane amount of money to be in the top brackets in it, in the end, consistency in doing daily activities and planning out your progress will always win with money. And consistency is one thing I always lacked, so the way I keep climbing up the ladders there is kind of therapeutic to me. :3

But, anyways, good job on getting rid of the toxic stuff and hope you can get back to a healthy routine quick. :)

The Ramshorns snails in my tank are kinda doing poorly (meanwhile, the ones from Mum's place, that originally came from my tank, and are the same age, are doing very well).

It's some sort of Calcium deficiency.

Yesterday (and earlier today), I tried in vain to feed them Spinach leaves (damn things wouldn't sink!). Scratch that then.....

Now I'm going for egg shells (snails can graze on them for Calcium, and it won't disrupt the fish I have in there). Hopefully these will sink....

Future plans include buying pellets designed for Shrimps and other crustaceans (would have bought some today if the pet store wasn't closed). As well as a DIY Snail Jello recipe (I've found 2 different recipes).

Many people consider Ramshorns as pests. But I think they are cool pets (apparently they come in various colors)

And here's some baby ones....

Confession(?): Google stats told me that someone reached my blog today by searching "succubus yuri lolicon visual novels" in Bing. I'm a bit sad that probably they came no closer to finding their fix by checking out my posts and I most likely have no means of directing them to Lillium x Triangle. I always respect people with tastes this specific. :wahaha:

Confession: I've just learned that there's is a large subreddit (and more broadly, a large community) of femcels, that is more or less female incels, but them and male incels hate each other with a burning passion (instead of, like, hooking up and cancelling each other's problems?). If this doesn't represent perfectly how screwed up modern society is, I'm not sure what does. :wahaha: (+ crying inside)

EDIT: And funnily enough, I think the lady that introduced me to the fact of femcels being a thing is the same person that made this memorable Bing search I mentioned in my previous post. She went to /vnsuggest subreddit today looking for "yuri lolicon visual novel" and got downvoted to hell, but her nick, "femcelforever", sparked my curiosity.

BTW, that's probably on my top 5 list of saddest nicks anyone could use online. :vinty:

I'm losing my shit

That's so stupid but makes so much sense at the same time (hint: the incel identity isn't just about being lonely and wanting a partner)

It's been a while since I've visited this place, mostly due to life being kinda crazy lately... So what made me visit today? An e-mail notification about a PM I've apparently received from a pornbot. Like I didn't have to deal with enough of this crap on Tumblr, what the hell -,-"

(Hope y'all are having a good time, btw. Can't wait to have the time to read and rant about some VNs again :))

Not sure if you're even going to read this, but take care. If I remember well, you have some big changes/challenges ahead of you, so I hope you find a good path for yourself. o/
