KoiitoKinenbi
I completed Kamidori Alchemy Meister, and it just had way too much gameplay. I don't want to grind for days just to move onto the next part of the story... Which below would you recommend that most fits the vn I'm looking for?: - Eien no Aselia -The Spirit of Eternity Sword- - Galaxy Angel Eternal Lovers - Minna Daisuki Kozukuri Banchou - Sengoku Rance Feel free to recommend any others that aren't in this list too... ps; translated only
nohman
Stay away from Minna Daisuki Kozukuri Banchou: it's trash. Or atleast, put a low priority on playing it over other titles. Personally, when it comes to visual novels with game play, nothing tops Sengoku Rance or Daibanchou. You might also check out the other titles in the Rance series, should you like the characters and feel of Sengoku. There's also Duel Savior. It's by no means the best game, but it is fun for what it is and I enjoyed it. Be warned you will not be able to play it on Windows 8. Yumina the Ethereal is also one you might consider. It's another fun title. Some people don't like it so much as others, but it might be worth a try.

Decay
I completed Kamidori Alchemy Meister, and it just had way too much gameplay. I don't want to grind for days just to move onto the next part of the story... Which below would you recommend that most fits the vn I'm looking for?: - Eien no Aselia -The Spirit of Eternity Sword- - Galaxy Angel Eternal Lovers - Minna Daisuki Kozukuri Banchou - Sengoku Rance Feel free to recommend any others that aren't in this list too... ps; translated only Of these four, Aselia has the strongest story. It still has a lot of gameplay, but it's not as grindy as Kamidori. Its biggest problem is that while there's not too much gameplay in any single playthrough, repeat playthroughs for the other routes are incredibly tedious and repetitive. Sengoku Rance is very gameplay heavy and the story is mostly irrelevant and uninteresting. The game is all about gameplay and h-scenes, everything else is just a bonus. Minna Daisuki Kozukuri Banchou is pretty much a gameplay nukige. I haven't played Daibanchou, but pretty much all Alicesoft games focus primarily on gameplay and h-scenes so I can't imagine it being any different. For others, maybe try Utawarerumono, it's very story heavy and it's one of the few gameplay VNs where you might spend more time in the VN portions than the gameplay ones. Its SRPG gameplay is only so-so, to be honest, but it's not outright bad. Just boring at worst. The protagonist is interesting, and I liked several of the other characters The story is pretty decent overall, I recommend it. Nohman mentioned Dual Savior, and it's very much a mixed bag. It meets your requirement of being more focused on the story than gameplay. It's a 2D brawler type game where the battles are short and infrequent. The gameplay is really repetitive and not very good. I think the comedy in the common route is actually kinda funny, and I really love the protagonist's voice acting, which enhances the comedy a good amount. But a lot of the more serious story stuff is really dull and the heroine routes are pretty bad. Yumina the Ethereal is a game made by the same team as Aselia, and it has different pros and cons. The battles play similarly but are slightly more interactive/tactical in Yumina. They switched the main gameplay system from strategy to dungeon crawling, and I don't like the dungeon crawling as much as Aselia's strategy mode. The story is also weaker overall. Repeat playthroughs are less repetitive, since you can choose to opt out of a lot of the gameplay. There can be some issues if you don't level up enough, but if you do new game+ without upping the difficulty, you can skip all of the optional dungeon crawling and blaze through the story battles. The problem comes when you want to get the true route, which requires you to play on progressively harder difficulties and also spend a very significant amount of time in the dungeon crawling section. Okami
Eien no Aselia, it's story is a priority and it's really great story, true game-play is not that interesting. Yumina the Ethereal would also fit a description true it's story isn't that good at beginning, it becomes better as it goes and becomes really good half way true, game-play also isn't that interesting true. And just to worn you in case you don't know that Rance is a nukige (It means that story is all just about porn) so if you are looking for a good story definitely don't go for that one. Zakamutt
999: Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors has some escape-the-room style gameplay that's decently good. The VN is excellent storywise as well. However, I highly recommend reading Ever17 first, so I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. You'd also have to use a DS emulator such as desmume unless you own the actual console and feel like getting the cartridge and all.
Mephisto
Eien no Aselia is one of the better plot based games in the Eternal series (it is far better than Yumina in that regard), but it suffers a little bit from outdated game play mechanics. While it may be true that Sengoku Rance itself may focus more on the gameplay aspects, the Rance series actually has quite a bit of lore behind the game, and has one of the cooler settings for a series that I know. PlotTrapDevice
How about Soukoku no Arterial? The Angel and Demon's Route is totally worth it in terms of story than Kamidori Alchemy Meister.

Clephas
Now now... anyone who has played Eushully's other games knows Kamidori and Himegari are at the bottom of the list for story...
KoiitoKinenbi
I've made my decisions from all the different perspectives. Thank you for all the detailed replies everyone!
orochinagi
As people already mentioned, gameplay wise i'd recommend Eushully titles (Battle Goddess series is getting translated) and I would also recommend: - Utawarerumono (for the reasons mentioned above) - Daibanchou and Daitekoku (system is fairly similar but i've spent a LOT of hours in those two games, definitely good gameplay in them - AliceSoft games). May get hit for saying this but regarding Rance, i've never really been a fan of the character and thus the titles :x
