People who commit crimes would have committed them in the first place because they are broken. Violence in videogames or lolis in VNs actually give a chance to the offender to release his anger and lust in those games instead of 3d people. This new legislation only bans real child pornography and to be honest, it was an issue within Japan for years; it has nothing to do with the anime and manga industry, featuring fictional characters. Although I have to admit, it might prove to become another excuse for the lobby to push on tightening laws concerning artistic works, since it's vague to tell what's the precise difference between real and fictional characters in terms of works featuring explicit sexual content; unless they will manage to draw a clear line, which is possible. I wouldn't worry that much about this particular issue right now, to be honest. Japanese M&A industry wouldn't give up their ground that easily, with market holding such huge shares in profit. Imagine a world without fictitious substitutes for them to consume, wouldn't that make them go out there and do harm instead anyway? Would you rather have an inexperienced pilot to do training on an actual aircraft or on a simulator? Would you rather go killing people on the streets or on a virtual game? That's a no brainer. 2D however should always remain untouched. There'll always be lobbies against the lolicon genre though, you can't change that. But I don't think they'll be able to put enough pressure to change laws regarding lolis. More like lolis are already restricted to begin with. Let the 2D world be free of censorship please. In my opinion, loli most definitely does not equal child pornography. That would be like saying that someone killed in an action movie equals them, or that actor, dying in real life. It just doesn't work that way. I also see lolis as a substitute for people that are sexually attracted to them. Rather than going after real children, they can have pictures of lolis. Of course there are exceptions to this, just like there are exceptions to anything, but banning something based on the minority of the minority is just asinine, not to mention marketing suicide. One is just a picture* and the other features real kids even if its acting, child porn may have kids being raped and abused and that's just wrong, sickening IMO and very dangerous I thought loli could feature girls who look young but arent actually kids? I presume the term is from "lolita" ie younger girls acting older than they actually are, or stuff that could be interpreted sexually.
