As suggested by solidbatman and supported by several other members, we decided to move forward with a contest to let you, our members, decide on the logo that will show up on the Fuwanovel forum and will replace our current one. For referencing purposes, I mean this one: We debated on the rules quite a bit to make sure everything was fair for everyone and allowed creativity. Please note that, as the first edition, rules are still not 100% definitive and may be changed if we see something wrong with them later down the road, of course we won't change them for the first edition, but for the second one if such a change were to be decided. If you have suggestions for further rules you may PM me or just post them here. Rules: The theme for this first edition will be Summer Only one submission per user. You may change your logo at any time during the contest, just make sure to indicate which is your final version (in case you post more than once) so there's no mistakes. To submit an entry you must post the logo you made in this thread or send it to me via PM if you wish to be anonymous. Entries should be around 354px by 90px and must include the title "Fuwanovel" and the sub-title "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West", but font, styling and design are up to the artist. No porn, sexual acts, genitals, female nipples, or excessive female cleavage If you wish to add (a) character(s) to the logo there is no restriction as far as whether that character comes from a VN/Anime/Manga/etc. or whether it's Male or Female. As long as you think it looks good and doesn't violate previous rules it can be submitted We'll accept entries for 10 days after this post goes up Once 10 days pass we'll make a poll where users can vote on their favorite logos There will be three winners per contest: The "official" winner will be the logo with the most votes, the second winner will be the runner-up in the poll, and the third winner will be chosen by a secret logo council run by Tay We encourage people to be creative and have fun making logos, but all logos -- even if they win the popular vote -- have to be approved by Tay before they'll be displayed on the forums We'll cycle through the logos periodically between contests (including the old stock banner and possibly previous contest winners) Submitting a logo gives us the right to use it forever and ever however we feel like it (*evil laughter*) Logo contests will be held semi-regularly If you wish to use the current font template in your submission we have a sample of it here that you may use, there is no penalty for using it. I'll be in charge of handling the first edition of the contest so any questions you may have can either be sent via PM to me or be posted here and I'll try to answer as fast as possible. I hope you all have fun in this first edition of the Fuwanovel Logo contest, let's see that all that creativity EDIT BY STEVE: - the logo HAS TO be transparent - remember that the background is black so unless you have a stroke around a dark text (or object), it will be nearly invisible - if you want to preview how the logo looks on the website, right click the current Fuwanovel logo and use the Inspect Element function - then edit the src attribute of the <img> tag and put there your logo - you can extend the image width to even like 350-450px so you don't have to cut hair or something, there is a space in there even in the smallest forum size. But, both girls from "F" and "A" are originally in swimsuit, and a picked that loli character because of her hat, which reminds me a bit of summer. Whichever you prefer, I'll have to look over the entire thread to gather all the logos anyway. But editing the post makes the job easier so I'd personally prefer it. And this is how it would look like on the site: I have too many ideas for this theme. I'll keep this one here for now while I look for better typeface and colors. Don't forget the theme guys, it's important to represent summer in some way or else the theme becomes meaningless. If Shinku isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think about summer then I don't know what is xD Just look at my avatar for example Even her hair is the color of the summer sun setting behind the horizon after a long day of playing with friends and lolis at the beach. Well I don't mean to be too strict, this is all for fun after all, it's just I'm the one responsible so I felt like i should comment on how I felt, but in the end these will all be up for vote so it's not too big of a deal. Literally "sun country," I thought it fit the bill quite nicely. In the game, Sachi is a painter, and I thought this was a good representation of how we can make visual novels in the west popular. Painting a canvas for the rest of the world to see with a rich culture and mesh of the many visual novels around the world. Her attire of suspenders fits that summer theme as well, however you can't really see that in the image. I know it sounds cheesy, but that's what was going through my head at least. Adjusting the hair on the side so it doesn't get cut off is an easy fix by the way. Anyways, fun contest. Thanks for hosting! I also have the clear text for the logo, however since you can't see white on white, this is easier to show what it would be like. The text kind of looks like Fuwanavel. Just a thought. I changed the lowercase letter into an uppercase and adjusted the font size to fit the image. Also, I added another paint drip which I thought would help clarify what the splash marks were in the actual logo.
