Sekai Project Official Grisaia Translation?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to clarify all the recent events in regards to grisaia translation; first the kickstarter and sekai project related information;

Hi Backers,

We sent out the BackerKit invites earlier, however we’ve been receiving many questions regarding it, so we'll address some of them here.

Regarding 18+ Physical Versions:

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this as a part of the Kickstarter or BackerKit. They will be offered in the future depending on production and fulfillment costs, but it still requires further discussion with Frontwing.

Regarding PSVita Versions:

Because the Grisaia trilogy has not been approved for PSVita yet, they are currently not listed. Since we were just recently accepted as a publisher, we are now working on the submission process.

For those only interested in the 18+ version:

Please downgrade to the $1 tier and you can choose the digital 18+ version for $80. If you would also like the consumer, “all-ages” version, you can choose the $120 add on to get both of the digital versions.

BackerKit Deadline:

Since the first game, “The Fruit of Grisaia”, will be ready shortly, we will be closing BackerKit within a month or two. We would greatly appreciate it if you could submit your BackerKit as soon as possible! Thank you to all our backers and we hope you understand!

Hello backers,

We've setup a process for backers who want a refund

Please fill out the form and we will process them in the order received. Please keep the link private, if fake refund requests are entered it will take a much longer time to process them.

DENPASOFT

We're proud to announce our partnership with @sekaiproject for Grisaia KS. 18+ version, dakis, and tapestries are available as add-ons!

The 18+ version will be delivered digitally exclusively through DenpaSoft. Dakis and tapestries will be fulfilled through Sekai Project.

As a special thanks to supporters of the KS campaign, backers for Grisaia will be able to select both consumer/18+ versions at a discount!

only able to offer the digital version at this time.

That is all the important relative information. Currently the 18+ version is digital only I would not be surprised though to see a limited physical release after the initial releases of all the games as another means for Frontwing to make money...similar to what mangagamer does. Frontwing wants to gauge the interest in the 18+ version separate from kickstarter for research purposes most likely and for the added benefit of getting people to put extra money down eventually on a physical copy in the future. Business wise it is a legitimate strategy that at least one company is already doing. Denpasoft seems to be hinting that they want to get the kickstarter orders filled first and then might release a physical version. Backers will be able to pick up any future version at a discount as well.

No information on whether or not the 18+ version will be DRM Free. Will probably be similar to whatever they did for neko-para.

The 18+ version will have Mosaics.

Currently the box set can be voted for between Beach and School...personally I like the beach but then my 3 favorite characters are highlighted on it so I'm bias.

The dakis, tapestries, bed sheets, etc... are all available via backer kit as well.

The 18+ version for Grisaia is 40 dollars for the entire trilogy if you backed otherwise it will be 80.

Honestly I'm going to go ahead and keep my safe for work physical version and grab the 18+ version as well. They managed to figure things out by the end and while I'm disappointed that the 18+ won't have a box the only big concern I have is with whether or not it will have DRM for the 18+ version

Honestly I'm just happy they didn't go back on their word completely. The physical edition will likely still happen you might just have to wait a bit for it.

Is anyone getting any of the add ons? I'm seriously tempted to pick up a tapestry but am not sure I want to pay 40 dollars for one...let alone which one.

Not that it matters but why the mosaics? Are they going to release it in Japan too?

Ethnics and some weird rule maybe. They are releasing it through Kickstarter. But most likely it is the same version they released in Japan too. Why spend more money on something. :)

I honestly am not interested in an 18+ version unless it is a physical copy. I wonder if they would make it possible to add a 18+ patch to the physical all ages version.

Just wait and Denpasoft will release the physical copies. I think it is 99% chance. The only problem is probably they won't sell it on release.

I apologize in advance if this has been addressed millions of times already but what are the differences between the vita version and 18+ version in Meikyuu and Rakuen? I don't mind if h-scenes are removed since I don't care about them much but is the main story affected in any way?

I'm just curious to why people would prefer the 18+ version unless important sections of the story are cut out in the vita version like

parts of Angelic Howl in Kajitsu?

or are there other reasons like wanting the "original" version of the game?

Again, sorry if my question is repetitive/stupid D:

You would be surprised, but a fair amount of mosaic'd content does not actually have anything drawn underneath - or if they do, it usually isn't what you think it is. Often, groups like Jast and Mangagamer work with the devs to draw those in.

Basically, It's like a obnoxious form of lingerie... it's there to frustrate you and avoid breaking any censor laws in Japan, but still appear sexy and adult.

What I'm having a hard time deciding, is if I want to buy the Steam version along with the +18... Does anyone know if the Steam (all ages) version ADDS or improves anything? Kind of like Realta Nua versus standard Fate/Stay Night?. (I already know about what is removed, or at least for Kajitsu)

The Steam/vita version adds new content to replace the other content as well as has additional scenes. The 18+ version does not have those scenes but does have a character getting molested by a jellyfish and h-scenes plus an event is not censored. The steam version will also have steam trading cards if I remember correctly.

So 80 dollars for the entire trilogy, digital, 18+?

Not a bad deal at all actually.

I have no need for physical copies and if it's actually 80 dollars for 3 games I'm very much considering saving up for it.

People prefer the 18+ version either because "Muh porn" and just general "I want the original product, not a censored version".

I for one don't care wether or not it affects the story, but I certainly feel annoyed when I get sold a censored version of something, hence why I'm always against any form of censored localization.

Wether or not it affects the story is hardly relevant for me but the Vita version adds extra scenes to replace the h-scenes so in terms of story and content you won't be missing almost anything because the Vita version was fully rewritten to make sense without h-scenes.

So in this case in particular you're deciding between 2 different versions of the game, each with their own merits. So I guess you could say the main reason in this case for people wanting the 18+ version is "muh porn" (though usually that's always the reason regardless of what anyone says).

Personally, I wouldn't have cared if it was all ages if it weren't for Amane's character in Kajitsu, where her H-Scenes had relevance to her character.  That's quite literally the only reason I can come up with for not wanting them to cut the H-Scenes.

Now for the supposed cuts in Angelic Howl? I like my stories pure and original. Even if they gave extra scene's to make up for it, in every game in the trilogy, they released the non 18+ version a couple years later, so there's no guarantee it doesn't interrupt the flow of the story as it wasn't written with the story.

I agree with you, original version is always the best choice and I don't care for the all ages version as much as I care for the original unaltered one, but the vita version was rewritten by the author to make sense, so it's not just a "we removed the scenes and that's that". It was edited and adapted to flow nicely so you won't even remember the h-scenes were meant to be there.

Will the feeling be different from when you read the 18+ version? Probably (you won't be fapping after all), but will the overall story and characters really be severely damaged/altered? Probably not.

Just my opinion though as someone who prefers the 18+ version but doesn't really remotely care that there's an all ages version.

You should jump of joy more or less. That's a really good price if you think about that crap J-List and Mangagamer sell for $20 - $30 (no offence) for a short VN. The bigger and more respectable titles are rarely below $40-$45.

Edit: $40 for the original Grisaia and $20 each for the sequels because they are according to VNDB shorter. Numbers from the sky.

So the 18+ version will be digital only? Great, another VN I will never be able to play uncensored (I can't import digital versions).

For now the only information about the 18+ release is that they release the game through Kickstarer digital only. If you are patient they would probably release the physical copies later when they agreed with Frontwing about some details. Be patient. It is not releasing through Kickstarter at least.

Come on Nosebleed you only want the h-scenes, you're just keeping up appearences by supporting the all-ages version :D

In all seriousness, where do we buy the digital +18 version after it comes out? (I couldn't find the info on Kickstarter page)

I think MangaGamer and JAST only very rarely has the uncensored CGs redrawn. There is a lot of uncensored eroge that have really terribly drawn genitals, and it's really apparent when artists take the easy way out (which isn't necessarily wrong). In this case, it seems like there is practically nothing underneath the mosaics, Front Wing apparently took that easy way out to an even bigger extreme, outright omitting some parts. It wouldn't only look crude, it would be comically bad. To some degree, if the genitals are crudely drawn, leaving in mosaics can enhance the eroticism. Like how censoring out random words in regular speech can make it seem filthy, or blurring out an act of light violence in a video can make it seem more brutal. Unless they're sure they can get someone really talented to do some high grade penis drawings, leaving the mosaics is probably the right choice.
