Sekai Project Official Grisaia Translation?

Kickstarter never disapproved of having 18+ Grisaia be a part of the campaign. They've allowed other eroge to be kickstarted, even stuff with no all-ages versions. I don't know how you can say it's more KS's fault than Frontwing's.

Kickstarter wouldn't even let Sekai Project have nude dakimakura as an addon, if I recall correctly.  Grisaia 18+ version has hardcore pornography.

Yeah...that's mostly why everyone was so pissed about it.  I've seen 18+ stuff get funded there; granted, it doesn't happen every day, but it seems like it mostly goes under the radar.  Several other VN projects had nude dakimakura addons as well, and even showed them directly on Kickstarter, yet they too slipped under the radar.

I'm afraid of Denpasoft only selling physical copies like they did with Nekopara.

It would really suck for me, I don't want to pay absurd shipping fees..

Oh no... :X i wasen't aware of that. That's pretty cringe worthy...

Maybe I should have backed the physical copy with the "extra slip" in the collectors box...

Dont want to, but I may have to rely on yarharfiddledeedee if it's physical only. (where I live, import and exports are "very" strict when it comes to adult content.

With Nekopara, it's an issue of Neko Works wanting to get all of the money from 18+ digital sales. Buying it from their site will still get you a version with an english translation.

This won't be an issue with Grisaia and I see no reason why they won't offer a digital edition of the 18+ version.

In all seriousness, there has been a heightened sensitivity over this in the last couple of months because of two major reasons. Firstly, people falsely associate VN's with Video Games and secondly, there has been a renewed moral panic against video games on the internet spearheaded by a few notable individuals like Anita Sarkeesian. The gist of it is that the medium is evil and misogynistic and they are rallying against any sort of depiction of women that could be construed as "sexist" - which seems to include pretty much anything of a sexual nature (I live in Australia and they had an internet petition that got GTA V pulled from the shelves of 2 major retailers here)

It's like everyone is on hyper vigilance alert because they are afraid of either having a petition launched at them, or being flamed on social media or having the press run stories about their services and damage their reputation. It's a weird form of internet slacktivism  by the type of people who spend all day on Tumblr bitching about who has the least privilege and talking about how something on Twitter "triggered" them and gave then PTSD.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty old - almost 40, so I clearly remember when guys like Jack Thompson were going around complaining that rap music and video games caused violence. Now it seems we have people from the other side of the aisle going around saying that video games cause rape culture and sexism. Unfortunately people classify VN's as "video games" in their ignorance, so they are probably an easy target because of their usually adult nature.

That's a pandoras box i've been carefully eyeing, hoping that the lid doesnt pop off. TIme will tell; esp. with the steady growth of VNs on Steam.

Some people say VNs are niche enough it won't get noticed...I'm not so sure... It's hard to "not" notice it when big breasts are in your face right on Steams store front page as a new "popular" title (Sakura series, etc).

As for Kickstarter and what they allow/don't allow, I dont think the above applies though, I suspect they just have 100 monkeys with keyboards working in a shed, and depending on the random keymashing - they approve/deny certain things in a project. I can list afew projects still ongoing that have racy posters and dakimakuras etc posted without hinderance..

This.

Not to mention the fact that they're mostly cute girls, and your goal is to go flirt with them.

Not that I have a problem with it.

I think the thing here is that people should just learn to deal with it. Just like how there are different genres of games that different types of people enjoy, visual novels are things that other people enjoy as well. It makes no sense to protest about something you don't like when you're still getting what you actually like. It's like you're attacking it for no reason.

It's just silly to go and make a movement to hurt a certain merchandise when it's not doing anything to you. I don't think zombies would protest to a game where you keep on killing them. Maybe because their brains are already rotten...

I'd also prefer it if they did not loosely associate video games, or games in general, to different crimes happening in our society mainly because they feature some kind of 'violent' gameplay or whatnot. It's not a general thing. People are different.

-Snip I'm really just trying to get your attention here-

Hey! This talk is reminding me of the 7th of Clephas' thread on the Rules of Forums! ...This is only marginally related to Grisaia anyway. Rather than getting into an argument because we appear to be on different sides of this issue, can you please possibly make a separate topic that I can safely ignore? Thanks.

On a Grisaia-related note, I'm super excited it got funded~ Looking forward to receiving the games... when they finish translating/editing them... which will probably take a while...

I'm just glad that they finally got their PSN publisher status. Now I just wonder if there will be any chance of us receiving physical copies of the Vita versions of the VNs.

It would be really interesting to see if they could push for a surprise ps3/ps4 port if they put it out on the psn store. (than again, persona 4 golden is on the psn but "only" for vita, so just because it's on a central network doesn't mean it will be all-platforms, sadly)

Which raises a question, I wonder why they restrict games to certain platforms when it can cross with minimal effort? *shrugs* Wakarimasen lol ┓(゚ペ ;)┏ -Insem, Summer '14
