Sekai Project Official Grisaia Translation?

Now I did say that it might just be a cash grab but you also have to understand that visual novels are not exactly well known in the west. Frontwing is new to the market. In a way look at it like this: the all ages/M-rated version is capable of being sold through multiple storefronts (primarily and hopefully they want Steam) where they (Front Wing) are guaranteed a greater return on their product. They can then release the 18+ version to the existing fanbase without the majority of casual users passing on it since it wasn't made available on a gaming/service platform they were a part of. But wait what does that have to do with getting it sold on steam? Well one nearly look at steam and their history with other games regarding sexual content. I take in point the game Seduce Me that was greenlit on steam and then removed for objectionable content. Steam has since gotten a slightly less strict policy on games on steam (sakura spirit for example) but even then they are weary. Too much of something they consider bad and they can lose their userbase. If Frontwing did any research on steam they would have found out Steam has a strict policy on any game containing sexual content in a pornographic way and that a game associated with another version of the game with minor differences would still not be allowed. Steam has since however come around with the recent upcoming release of huniepop, mangagamer's overdrive, sakura spirit, and sunrider they've become more lax. Frontwing probably does not yet know this as they are a japanese company and probably are not overly privy to more recent events. Currently there is no large/widely used gaming service available on the internet used by the general populace to download and play games with 18+ content (outside of DL) and thus it makes proper-ish business sense to release the M-rated version into a unknown and new market first.

By doing this Frontwing is able to gauge the reaction of the general public not just the 18+ fans. It allows them to experiment and see what works and what doesn't and what the initial reaction is to that type of game. If the 18+ version is not out when the game is initially released then it won't be given flak or criticisms for the adult content because people tend to not look back at games outside the initial release. This is a new market for them and honestly this is a bit of an experiment. In the end I believe the success of this version has a very high chance of seeing an uncut and 18+ version later or at least open in the future. The way that they do this might also be a proper method for other visual novel companies hesitant on releasing their game and getting initial bad press to actually take a risk by doing the same thing.

I at least hope this is the case. There is always the possibility of such a thing not coming to fruition (ha ha puns) but honestly I'll maintain optimism (something I never do) as I think the success of this could be nothing but good news for visual novel fans in general.

I will admit however that I still think making goal is going to be a tough fight. I mean sure they might be at 66,000 thousand right now but they still need 94,000 admittedly almost half is good. I fear though that all the people interested will donate halfway and thus it will miss it because of the hesitation and again that is Frontwing's fault for not making everything clear.

In regards to the most recent tweet by Denpa: Looks like Grisaia's off to a good start. Wish we could do something about that 18+ version though...

I am going to take this as good news and hinting that Denpa is going to be behind the 18+ release but one could also read it as a hint by Denpa that the 18+ isn't coming from them. I find that very unlikely because they posted it in their recently made 18+ off shoot company and it seems very likely that they would have no reason to post that unless they did indeed plan to do something about it.

It's quite possible that they will reveal it midway through...perhaps Frontwing themselves didn't think it would do that good and so didn't want to put money towards a project that potentially wouldn't derive them profit. I said it above but Frontwing is new to this market it is quite possible they are experimenting and taking notes. Hell if I owned a business and was about to enter into a new venue I would do the same thing.

Considering koetsl is the translator I also completely believe that if the 18+ version had no chance of happening then we would know.

Again I don't know how many of you looked at the initial prefundia page but originally it was going to be 80 dollars per game and that got switched twice once to 60 and then with the kickstarter finally down to 40. People were perfectly happy to pay 80 per game when if first went up but not that the price is lower they refuse. Hell if they sold the game at the same price it would still be about what they predicted. They didn't begin changing the prices until stuff began happening on the other hand and then possibly with new knowledge began lowering the price and eventually cut in half knowing that people might have to pay separately for the 18+ version it ends up being about the same amount.

Again I'm going to support it but I am definitely being more of an optimist than I usually am and I completely understand why people are hesitant about this. Hell I was probably the first person to begin voicing dissent about the upcoming changes and hell I might be one of the people to bring the changes to attention. I was definitely not happy in the beginning about this and even now I'm still annoyed but I'm going to be giving it a chance. If this falls through and other promises aren't made then this will probably be the last kickstarter I will do. All it takes is for one to go bad for trust in all of them to be shaken. Even now it is salvageable if it succeeds and they release an 18+ one after and possibly with a discount or free voucher. I imagine the free voucher probably would only go to those who back a certain amount while the rest would end up getting a discount. At least that's probably how I would do it in this situation.

The 18+ version will be discussed as soon as goal is reached.

woo another long post basically reiterating crap I've said previously woot.

Don't let your guard down! This project is not a success until we get the fabulous adventures of Idol Mahou Shoujo Chiruchiru Michiru!§§§

If things keep up at this pace, it'll most likely happen.  They got another $2k since my last post in this thread.  Then I'll actually get to read about how Sachi can't be a Mahou Shoujo  D:  I am disappoint.

I know, it's nuts. They're less than 7k away from the halfway point! (Well, the baseline anyway. We all know the real goal is 200k though. ;o)

Not gonna back it until they said something about the +18 and probably gonna buy the +18 if it came out, no early bid or anything for the lower tiers either... is like pre-ordering the game but we are crowd-funding it instead.

nah pre-ordering means you know exactly what you're getting there is no proof or info on the 18+ version yet except they will talk about it near the end of the All age version fundraiser

Well Koetsl the translator for the games just posted this in response to denpasoft's previous comment and then denpasoft retweeted it:

I'm sure this tweet by 18+ publisher Denpasoft means nothing in particular

I think this either is meant to troll people or that this is not quite official confirmation that the reason sekai project is not saying anything about it is because sekai project is not doing anything with it. Rather their 18+ publisher Denpasoft might in the near future or upon goal reaching announce they plan to release it. Honestly I'm more or less convinced now that 18+ is coming it's just a matter of making goal for the kickstarter.

its slowed down quite a bit from the initial start though so

Yeah, but it's still making hundreds of dollars per minute. And it's still the middle of the night. (At least here on the east coast of the Americas it is.) Gotta wonder if it's gonna pick up some more when the morning comes.

EDIT: Sorry. Forgot the crowd I was talking about for a minute there. When the afternoon comes.
